"you're right. You could. However there are wolves around these areas and with the drought they will be even more dangerous than usual. There is strength in numbers plus I'm from the Solaris bloodline, you'd be safer with me than on your own."

Sanya retorted before adding

"Plus I don't think the village would take too kindly to a thief in their midst. Camping with me would probably be a better option than being flogged publicly."

The mention of flogging made Raihani's blood run cold. She tried to take a step back. The wolves she did not mind so much; in fact, she had never seen any, so the danger seemed abstract to her. She was desperate enough that she was willing to take the risk - desperate and reckless. But people were NOT abstract, and the thought of having company was almost a welcome one now. Still - this woman was as much a stranger as any of the others.
"What in the world is a . . . a Solaris?"

"I take it you don't have that much diversity in your culture? A Solaris is one who hails from an ancient family with the power of the sun, or I suppose it would be easier to say fire."

She stated, releasing the girl before smirking a bit, as one hand produced a small amount of fire.

"Don't be afraid of me. I really don't mean any harm. I am just going back to my village in the mountains."

Raihani had been prepared to laugh at the ridiculous name and its back story, which had sounded as if it could have been some old family legend connected to an ancient pagan religion or something. The sight of thr flame, however, left her tongue tied.
Well, the woman wasn't crazy, at least. This was no time to be selective; beggars couldn't be choosers. And she was so tired and so hungry and so very cold that any form ofcompany and shelter and any rest sounded good to her.

"if you want to stay in camp with me there is plenty of stew to go around and the tent is warm and doesn't leak. Just don't try to steal from me and we will get along fine."

Sanya stated as she turned to head back toward camp pausing only to call over her shoulder

"They call me Sanya by the way."


The tent was rather small though Sanya knew that would be no problem for her though her mind did turn to the girl. Her clothes were odd snd not like anything she had seen before and it was obvious that she did not know much about the local fauna either.

"I'm Raihani," the girl said at last,and, without another word, she followed Sanya into the tent.
There, she sat and hugged her knees, clutching her package between them as if it were treasure. She watched and waited for food with hungry eyes.
She had no intentions of stealing from this woman - not yet, in any case.

Filling a bowl full of a thick stew Sanya handed it to Raihana along with a large piece of hard tac.

"Here, it's not much but it's better than nothing. You can have as much as you like."

She stated calmly before adding

"So tell me about yourself."

Raihani threw herself into the stew and nearly broke her teeth on her bread in her effort to get it down.
Halfway through the food, she answered. "There's nothing to tell. I'm fourteen. My dad is dead. My mom was depressed. We were all broke. I never finished ninth grade. I took some pills one day and when I woke up I was here. And i don't have any powers."

"I see. Well since you have absolutely no idea about this land and are here alone why don't you come to my village with me?"

Sanya suggested before adding

"Some people have powers others don't. Trust me, it's no fun when you you sneeze a fireball and insinerate your homework."

"Well. . .why not?" It wasn't as though she had any other place to go.
