Caine Stellar never expected to have kids of his own as he was never one to go looking for someone to love. He never thought of adopting a child either so he surely was in for a surprise when he heard a knock on his door. It had been a rainy day and the man had just returned home from teaching when he heard the faint knocking sound followed by what appeared to be the sounds of someone running. When Caine opened the door and peered into the night he noticed a basket with a note a top of it on his doorstep. He looked down the sidewalk for any signs of someone who had dropped it and debated calling out for someone. He decided against it as he saw no one in sight and lifted the basket, finding it weighed the same as two children, most likely only six or seven years old. He found that odd but still carried the basket inside, reading the note as he closed his door.

"To whom ever lay eyes on this note, I'm sorry but I have left with you a curse that I cannot handle, please take care," he read aloud as he opened the basket and laid eyes upon two small children, both sound asleep.

One of the children started to shift hugging onto the other one before the light from the room caught their eye, opening with a slight squint before utter shock and fear took over,"Ah!! Elli!! Elli!!!", the girl said her ears going flat against her head as she shook the boy. "Em... I'm tryin to sleep....shh.. why are you screaming?",he whined looking quite irritated as he sat up before he too saw the man,"Huh?! Where's momma.... What did you do to momma?!.

Their blue eyes filled with tears looking around in confusion, the last thing they even remembered was a sweet lullaby and being tucked into bed. Now here was this strange man staring down at them, and boy did he look tall, though not like a scary man they'd see in shows or anything.

As the children awoke Caine got a better look at them and noticed they had the ears and tails of a cat. Oh, well that was strange. Before he could say anything about that the children started panicking and he set to helping them calm down. "Hey! Hey....it's alright, I won't hurt you," he spoke in a comforting and soothing, wanting to ease their fear.

The man took a step back to give them space as he explained what happened. "I'm not sure where your mother is little one, though if I were to guess she's the one who left you in my care and left this note." He showed them the piece of paper. "Does this happen to be her handwriting?"

The girl slowly sat up peering out of the basket at the note he had, looking over it in fear before tears filled her eyes once again,"M-Momma left us.... She doesn't love us..",she whimpered tears going down her face wiping at them with her hands. The boy, looked like he was trying to stay tough looking but the act soon faded as he started sniffling,"What are we supposed to do... I don't have any money..".

Caine's hurt began to ache as the kids cried and he wanted more than anything to scoop them up in his arms like he had done his students. Of course he didn't do this's seeing as they didn't know each other. "I don't think she hates you. Yes she may have left you but if she hated you she most likely wouldn't just left you to fend for yourselves....listen, you don't need money, I've got that covered. Based on the note.....if you're willing anyway, I may be able to take care of you."

"H-Huh? But she called us a curse?.... Why do you want us?", Elliott asked suddenly curious though he was still quite upset over it all. The place did look a lot nicer than the shack they lived in after all. "You won't hurt us?",Emmie asked with wide eyes, the thought seemed to blow her mind based off past experiences,"You're a nice human...".

That was one thing he couldn't defend her on and merely sighed as he sat down on the floor with them, being careful not to frighten either of them. "Well it would be wrong of me to leave you on the streets....I wouldn't feel good about myself if I did that." Caine explained before turning to the girl. "Yes I promise I won't hurt you, I would hope I'm a nice human, most say I am. And what species are you two exactly?"

Emmie climbed out the basket moving closer towards him in curiosity before sitting down in front of him,"Um... Momma said we were Nekos! An that we were special.". Elliott nodded slightly going to sit next to his sister,"We'd stay here with you? .... Wow...",he said looking around in excitement, there was so much he wanted to explore already, especially to not think about their situation.

Caine smiled a bit as they moved closer to him before listening to what they siad. "Nekos? I guess that would explain the ears and tail. I think I can agree with her there, you both are very special." He gave a nod at the boy's question and stood up. "Yes that's right....um, what are your names?" He knew they referred to each other as Eli and Em but figured those were just nicknames.

And She's my twin sister ..Mazie?.",he told the man watching him stand up before he sat up too, pouting at the size difference, not that he even had hope, clearly they could in a basket and he definitely couldn't. Emmie wiped the stray tears from her face with a soft sniffle,"Well his name is Actually Elliott Scott.. Mine is Emmie Scarlett.",she said avoiding Elliot's glare. " Em you don't even know him yet.. Why would you do that?!. Not even just the first names.. you had to do first and middle. ",He grumbled before shaking his head,"She's right...".
