The late-summer sun hung low in the sky over the multi-coloured leaves of the Spanish forest. The woods, having a large natural cliff splitting down the centre of them, made for a grand tourist destination and would usually be crowded. The forest however, was currently empty following the instructions of the many signs about that read, "Entrada Prohibida: 6:00 P.M.- 6:00 A.M." Empty except for two, that was.

Alex Nickols, current director of a field-testing team, currently stood crouched by some fallen trees near the natural cliff, his entire reason for coming to the forest. Looking down at his watch showed that it was currently about 7:15 P.M.. Beside him was his current, 'younger' employee, Nick, who'd come to Spain with him for an arranged business conference.

After an atrocious 15 hour plane ride from America, the last thing the short man had wanted was to attend the conference next morning, so.. he didn't. Today was day one, and while they should have been attending, it was Alex's lovely croon of 'Cmon, I'd rather go see the sights, nothing important happens on the first day anyways!..' that had led them to go touristing about the countryside of Spain instead. "Now admit it, touring today was better than attending some stuffy meeting, wasn't it?" Alex asked, nudging his companion in the side with his elbow softly, a satisfied smirk on his face as he looked upon the sun-orange tinted cliff facings.

Silvio, better know as Nick to his human associates, shook his head when Alex nudged him. At least the young human was likable, although he still wasn’t quite sure why he had agreed to come with him. “The view is lovely, but we could have come after the confidence.” He pointed out.

The vampire leaned against a tree as he watched the sunset, calculating how long they would have sunlight. “We should probably head back soon; I doubt we want to be lost in the woods at night.”

Not that it would matter to him, he could see perfectly by starlight, but Alex may find himself having some issues.

"Well, the conference started so early.." Alex replied with a shrug, the fact that he had wanted to sleep in going unsaid. He had never understood why some of them had to last so long anyways, it was just a bunch of boring information.. "Afraid of the dark?" He asked in response to Nick's claim of being lost at night. "I've got my phone and there's a trail, we'll be fine.. and speaking of," He reached into his pocket, pulling out his cellphone to take a few pictures as he inched closer to the cliff. "We'll go back after a few pictures." He conceded, deciding he didn't want his 'young' friend to get spooked as he leaned over the shadowy ravine with interest.

“Eight isn’t that early.” Silvio said mildly, although normally the vampire was only awake at eight if he hadn’t gone to sleep yet. He was glad that his job let him work in the evening, he could be active during the day, but he generally preferred not to be.

He watched Alex inch closer to the cliff with trepidation, “I’d rather not spend the night wandering through a forest. Be careful, Alex.” He stood up, hand half way raised towards his boss and friend.

The short brunette shook his head at Nick's worrisome tone. "Relaaax, I'm fine." Alex assured him, snapping some pictures. Standing up, he turned around and faced the other while typing on his phone. "Alright alright, we can go now.." He said, starting to take a step when suddenly, with a small crack, his foot pressed into a weak part of the cliff. Letting out a surprised yell as he fell backwards, he quickly tried to grab onto the cliff only to have the steep rock cut into his hands.

Hands loosening in pain, Alex let out cry as he tumbled down the cliff side, slamming into a ledge that jutted out about thirty feet below. Coughing weakly, he sputtered out some blood as his vision went blurry, causing him to roughly slam his eyes shut. He managed to mumble out something incoherent alongside a moan as he tasted blood in his mouth.

Silvio cursed, rushing forward when Alex tumbled down the cliff side; even with vampiric speed his fingers only managed to graze the other’s shirt as he fell. Leaning over the ledge, he saw that Alex’s fall had been stopped some twenty feet below. The smell of blood, far too much blood, rushed up to greet Silvio and the vampire shut his eyes and hissed softly; silently debating what to do.

The nearest hospital was at least an hour’s drive and it was debatable that Alex would last that long even if Silvio risked exposing himself and flew them. The incoherent plead decided it for him and he gracefully flew down to land next to Alex, brown eyes roaming over him as he knelt next to the man.

He hated to do this here, but there was no time to move the mortal so Silvio gently tilled Alex’s head back and bit his neck to drain what little blood was left.

Eyes clenched shut, Alex was on the verge of passing out when he felt something start to move his head. Moving his hand blindly, he made to grasp weakly at the other man, hand wrapping into Silvio's shirt as he attempted to keep himself awake. He barely registered the bite to his neck as he felt his body run cold. Unable to make himself move anymore, the man finally succumbed to unconsciousness after only a few more moments of fighting it.

It didn’t take Silvio long to drain Alex, most of his blood was on the ground as it was. Once he felt the man’s heart slowing, he stopped and sat up. Biting into his own wrist, the brunet held his arm above Alex’s mouth, letting the vampiric blood drip into the slightly open mouth. “Come on, Alex, I need you to drink.” He coaxed.

Now fluttering in and out of consciousness, mostly out, Alex didn't exactly register Silvio's words. When he felt the warm(?) liquid in his mouth, the brunette swallowed instinctively, though after a moment he tried to turn his head away with a groan despite being currently much too weak to actually manage more than an inch.

Silvio gently grabbed Alex’s chin and moved his wrist back over his mouth. He flexed his hand to help the blood flow as he pressed the wound to his friend’s lips. “Bevi, piccolo.” He said encouragingly. Alex only needed a little blood to start the turn, but the more he drunk the safer this would be.
