Mischal flushed and shrugged. "I was excited. I wanted to start his training right away." He mumbled as Eucerian snuffled around their feet and whined low in the back of his throat.

"Oh no the horse!" Mischal smiled at him. "Well let's get the horse hurry!" He said and took off running back to the glass maker.

"Wrong." Jared smacked him hard with his belt. "Wrong." He smacked him again. "And wrong once more." He lifted him up to lay a hard smack on the under curve. "Would you care to start over?"

"Oh no you don't." Elliot grabbed the back of Mischal's shirt and halted him in mid-run. "The horse will be fine. But you need a lesson in patience and we need to get those pants fixed." He turned his husband toward a store with a sign of needle and thread hanging over it.

When the belt came down the first time Adam screamed and stuffed his fist in his mouth. He bit down, drawing blood, to keep from howling. "Thorry...'m thorry." He sobbed.

Mischal pouted, pulling Eucerian after him. "I was being patient Ell. I don't need a lesson." He whined, pulling slightly on the other. "Let's just fix my pants and head home. All of the new staff is there and someone needs to set them to cleaning up." He twined their fingers and gave the other a bright, innocent smile.

Jared pulled him straight up, moving the others hand and pressing a kiss to the bloodied knuckles without thinking. "Uh..." He laughed nervously, pressing the other close and hugging him tightly. "It's alright Adam." He murmured.

Elliot arched his eyebrow. "I say 'Stay here and don't get into trouble'. You don't stay and you could have easily gotten into much worse trouble." He shook his head. "Non on both accounts. You do need a lesson and we have other things to buy."

He tweaked Mischal's nose with his free hand. "I still have to get you your surprise, remember?"

Between his hand and his bottom, Adam hurt too much to think about the kiss. He just buried his face into Jared's uniform and sobbed. "It's not alright. It's not!" He hiccuped and had to gasp for breath. "Nothing's alright!"

Mischal pulled himself out of his full blown pout and managed a little smile. "It had better be a really cool surprise." He said and crossed his arms. "And what about your friends here?" He asked. "Do we need to make some sort of appearance to the local bourgeois? So as not to embarrass anyone?"

"Very well then." Jared stroked down his back and crooned to him. "It will soon be alright. How does that sound to you?"

"Not today. We'll have a party or something and invite them over, make nice, and then avoid them whenever possible. But!" Elliot scowled. "You will not distract me. Pants. Lesson. Now." He pulled Mischal into the seamstresses' shop.

The pimply teenager behind the counter gave them a bored look. "No dogs allowed in the shop."

"It's a cat." Elliot lied. "Young man, we need..."

"Looks like a dog."

"It's not a dog." Elliot said through gritted teeth.

"Ten gold coins and it can be a rooster." The kid smirked.

"Zero gold coins, you let us keep our rooster with us and I won't tell the shop owner you tried to blackmail the customers." When the smirk disappeared, he nodded. "Right then. We need these pants sewn up. Darling, go into the backroom and take those off. Take the rooster with you." He shooed Mischal away then leaned forward and whispered his plans to the pimply kid behind the counter.

"How?" Adam demanded, his voice muffled by the uniform. "How are you gonna make it right when you don't even know what's wrong?"

Mischal pouted, carrying Eucerian into the back and setting him down on the floor. "This is all your fault." He muttered, shucking off his pants.

"If you would just stay put like you're supposed to." He waggled a finger at the pup. "You're a bad boy."

The Austrian giggled as the dog whined and licked at his out streched finger. "St-stop it!" He squealed.

Jared sighed gently. "I suppose I can't. Will you tell me what is the matter then? How can I make this right to you?"

Elliot scooped up the torn pants and tossed them to the pimpley kid. "Can you do it?"

"Same size and everything?" The kid held up the pants for inspection.

"Smaller and shorter please."

"Colors? Fabrics?"

"Uh...whatever's fashionable."

"How many?"

"Seven should do to start." He plunked down half the cost up front and went to the back. The sight of Mischal and Eucerian was adorable and his heart melted. And what remained was stone. Cold, unmovable stone.

"Ma petite, I love you dearly. But you've earned yourself a spanking. If I could, I would spank the dog. But alas, you must carry the blame."

Adam hiccuped and it took several false starts before he was able to speak again. "S'not fair to snap at me for calling a girl a wench. All the ones I ever talked to didn't mind being called wenches. An' it's not fair to expec' me to act like Blondie. I'm not royalty, I don' know to act like 'em or around 'em." He gestured to his ragged clothing and matted hair. "I'm a bloody pirate. D'you really think I know much 'bout civilization?"

He leaned away from Jared and wiped his nose on his sleeve. "An' even if I did, Blondie's a brat."

Mischal looked up as Elliot spoke and bit his lip. "I really don't think you need to do all that Ell." He frowned and shook his finger at Eucerian once more.

"Bad dog! That was naughty of you." He said sternly, the pup whined and lay down on the floor.

"There you see? He's been properly taught a lesson. I don't think any more lessons need to be taught today." He gave the other a bright grin. "Oh and my pants! Aren't they ready? We mustn't keep the gentleman at the front waiting!"

"It is perfectly fair to ask that you act like a civilized person." Jared sighed. "And all I really ask is that you use your head a little Adam! I mean all of those things could have been avoided with a little common sense."

He smiled softly. "Well yes, he is quite a brat. But you have been acting much like a petulant child yourself, and whose fault do you think that is? Not his at the very least."

"They're not ready and won't be for a while." Elliot sat down and pulled Mischal over his knees. "And stop blaming the dog for everything. You chose to run after him instead of coming to get me."

"I don't know how to be civilized, I don't have common sense, and I am not a child!" Adam whined.
