I saw the future...and it was sore


Professor Trewlaney opened the curtains in front of her windows to let in some fresh air. The fourth graders just finished her lesson in smoke reading and it wartime to prepare everything for the new pupils that would come in soon enough.

She was the teacher for divination and a true medium, not one of these fake ones that you often could find I streets reading your future for a few pence.
No she was a real one and even though her last real prophecy was already years ago it still filled her with pride.

Real mediums were really rare but divination wasn’t all about being a medium, not even about being a rare true medium so like herself. No there were other techniques that someone could learn and she tried her best to teach them to their pupils.

Thiswas the Second Source of her pride. Sh3 actually liked being a teacher. It was not about the stable income or the home that this job provided her with, it was also because of the kids and her hope that maybe one day she would find another medium just like her. But even if she wouldn’t find another one it was still ok. Most of her kids were really nice ones. Of course she had a few troublemakers as well but she tried to stay calm. It worked most of the time but for today she was a bit nervous. This morning she saw in her crystal ball a storm coming in form of a kid followed by two red moons. She wondered what this could mean but decided that she would know it soon enough. She cleared the room from the last bits of smoke and called the houseelfs to bring her the special cakes she had ordered yesterday. She placed them on the table and waited for her pupils to arrive

"I just say it's ridiculous" Hermione frowned, approaching the classroom. "Magic is one thing, but foresseing the future just doesn't make sence logically. I've read numerous books in which the famous wizards criticized divination and explained how it was all fake"


"Come on, Hermione, we just need to take that studying course. I am not a fan of history of magic either, but do you hear me complain every time?" Harry tried to reasone.


"Firstly - yes, I hear you complaining every time you need to do the homework and end up copying mine" the girl sarcastically responded. "And secondly, it's not the same. How can school force us to take a course in something that was debunked alraedy?! It's against everything I belive in!"


The gryffindor students took their places in the classroom, but Hermione didn't even bother to take out her books. She looked at the teacher with a clearl contempt, obviosly beliving her 13 years old self to be much smarter then professor Trewlaney.

Professor Trewlaney smiled at her pupils as one after another came into her classroom. A few looked tired, a few looked excited and one girl in particular glared at her. could she have something to do with Theatermusik? Maybe she saw a stormy temperament.

„Welcome again my dear pupils. Welcome again to another year which we will use to help you learn moreover the finer magical arts“ she welcomed them and waved her wand.her big crystal ball began to shine brightly, illuminating the room.
Normally her you her pupils loved such tricks and so she used this kind of flashy magic once in a while to satisfy them.

„Last year we focused on foreseeing trough a crystal ball like this one over there. We also learned about bone reading and tealeafs. This year we will focus on different things. One of our topic will be handreading. You can learn a lot about yourself and your body while looking at your hands. The different lines on it. The texture of your skin and the flexibility of your fingers can tell you lot of things. And I’m gonna teach you that“ she startet and like she expected it the pupils didnt look to enthusiastic. Handreading was one of the basic arts but also not a really spectacular one.

„We will also learn about making a Horoskop by using the constellation of stars during your birth and we we tryptophan activate your third eye“ sh3 told the, and now she had their attention.

„The third eye or the magic eye how some people like to call it is a specific magical ability. Everyone can learn it but only a few can really master it. But even the basics alone can be pretty useful. It can help youth see traces of magic that was used or see trough illusions. It also trains your imagination and your sixth sense how the Muggel like to call it.we will begin today with a little training session. I have ordered these chocolate cakes here from the elf’s and put a little marble in each of them. The marble is imbued with magic and your job is to try to find them without destroying the cake. If you do good you can keep the cake. Sounds like a good idea, right? But first things first let me talk about the theory behind the third eye“ she told them and startet a monologue about how someone had to focus their energy to awaken his or her eye.

Ron and Harry looked in disbelief at their female friend. For the very first time they saw Hermione not opening the books or writing anjyhing down at class. Even more so - her face expressed clear boredrom and irritation, she fidgeted and looked at the window openly. It was almost Fred and George's level of indifference to studying!



And she even commented a few times while teh professor was talking. "It was debunked, like, 100 years ago!" "Gosh, that's so fake...", "The stupidest thing I had ever heard!" Hermione was whispering, but in a kind of not-so-subtle whisper that could be heard not only by her pals nearby.


Well, she was rightfully enraged! She could be preapring to the Transfiguration seminar, and instaed she had to spend time in that cheap circus knock-off with some lunatic! Hermione was prety sure even she was more qulified then professor Trewlaney.

Sybille of course noticed the rumours from their corner butcher couldn’t understand what they were talking or who was it.

„Please be quiet a few minutes longer I still need to finish my explanation but don’t worry it will be quick. You will be able to try this technique in no time windig sou manage to do it there’s a cake for you“ she told them happily going around and give every table a cake.

„I asked for a lot of different ones. We have chocolate ones and cheesecakes, we have tarts and fruity ones. But don’t worry the third eye silkworm on all of them“ shetold them placing Auge chocolate cake on their table. .she noticed how Rons eyes grew instantly. the Black haired boy also looked interested and she smiled satisfied.

Mr. Potter, in her eyes, had a very promising aura and she was sure that he could do good, the girl on the otherhand looked like she was sad, maybe she was worried that the could not do it. She decided to calm her worries.

„Please do mit fret my Girl. Even if your talent doesn’t look as promising as Mr. Potter’s here you can still do it’s d even if not you are still allowed to takedown cake“ shepromised placing it directly in front of her and patting the girls head encouragingly like she Hänsen other teachers do it.

"My talent? Well, ma'am, I can certainly say I have no talent in fortune-telling" Hermione responded, not even angry, but rather condescendingly to the teacher. She shook Trawlaney's hand off her puffy hair. "Neither has Harry, or you, for that matter. All of that is just trickery and pretending, and nothing else. I am ashamed that the school forces us to take that course, and no cake will barb me into accepting that baloney!"

Hermione reacted rather harsh and when she shook away her professors hand she almost knocked down the cake. With a surprised yelp Sybille reached out to grap it the moment before it fell down.

„Ms. Granger I can5 believe it. How could you say such bitter things and even moreyou almost destroyed the cake which the little elves baked for us. It was hard work she scolded the girl before she crossed her arms.

„Just so that you know it. My teachings are not useless and they do exist. Fortune telling and prophecies guided mankind for centuries. Just take a look at scientists like Nostradamus and even i myself made held prophetic teachings and every one was fulfilled so far. I demand an apology in front of this class. Right here right now because you disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of my classroom“ she pointed at the front of the class.

„Oh and just for your Information the School doesn’t force you it was your own choice which led you Here. And now apologies and I will forgive you but take care of the cake. It’s a good cake“ she demanded while the other students watched in awe.

"Yeah, centuries. Dark Ages, to be more precise. And then most wizards got wizer and rejected that nonsence" Hermione frowned. "I cannot imagine why someone as edicated and intellegent as Dumbledore keeps these lessons in the program..." The girl hestitated before continueing, but the scolding, which she had almsot never recived, and the class' attention made her too prideful. She needed to have the last word in that argument!
"I guess he just pities you, since you're so dellusional and have no real skills, ma'am. I am sorry, but there is no other sensible explanation. And I doubt you had made a single real prophecy in your life. Could you name one?" Hermione barely witheld a slightly smug smile.

Sibylle gasped in shock just like most of her students. She couldn’t believe it.
„Ms. Granger i… i cannot believe what you just said. What terrible dirty words. As i said before it was your choice to choose this class so if you dont like it there’s nobody to blame except you and once this year is over you can leave us but until then i expect to be respected as your teacher and just so you know i did three so called divine prophecys while i fell in trance and i can’t remember them but i also made a lot more trough handreading, bonetelling or trough cards. I was famous in my guild before i choose to become a teacher at this school. I am more than capable to be a teacher here but for your future i dont need my powers i can promise you its a sore one. Come here“ she ordered pointing in front of her. But when Hermione didnt move she whipped her wand and the girls was lifted from the chair to fly over the table. Of course that happened with a lot of screaming and yelling and unfortunately on her way she kicked two cakes down.

„Dear pupils i have to apologise bus this gurls here needs a more physical approach of teaching. Please try to continue open your third eye ore just watch and let this be a lesson to you“ she asked them looking disappointed at the damaged cakes.

„she just wanted to do a good class but it seemed she had no choice. Usually she wasn’t the strict kind of teacher and preferred to send them to their house leaders but not now. She Still couldn’t believe what she has heard today and she would make sure this girl learnt her lesson.

The floating girl finally stood in front of her with an angry look in her dyes and a red face but she fufnt care. She pointed at a bank in front of the class.

„Ms.granger over there. Bend over and hands on the wood. Your actions have earned you a paddling and i foretell you it will be a good one with extras for the cakes you destroyed“ she told her calling for the paddle wich came to her floating from the back of the room.

Hermione couldn't wothold a chuckle then she heard that the teacher bragged about the prophecies she didn't even remember herself! That persone was really pathetic... But teh next moment Hermione's smile faded away as she was lifted in the air by the ivisible force! The 13 years old girl wiggled, but couldn't stop her movement or get back on teh floor untill she stood before Trawlaney.


And the teachers' next order made her blush even more - and clench her littel buttocks underneah her robe, skirt and cotton white panties. Being a well-behaved girl and excellent studnet meant that Hermione rarely had faced serious dicsipline - and never with such a huge scary paddle or in the presence of her classmates!


"No! Y-you cannot... I was only answering your questions... And everyone's right there!" the girl's voice trembled a bit and shifted between the protest and plead every other word.
