Messing with the wrong vault

Gert accepted payment for the supplies, which actually wasn't a bad haul on its own, but apparently not nearly as much as James was planning on getting from recovering his possessions. She wished them a nice day and walked out. She looked over at Piper and said, "Sorry, kid. If it makes you feel any better, they found your ass REALLY distracting. It did its job today!"


Meanwhile, inside, James and Heather waited for their chance to escape the crates where they were hiding when most of the guards had left the area.

“So where are we heading?.ask Heather on where they were headimg.

He whispered, "Stay quiet, there are still patrols around these halls sometimes. My family has a few boxes of things that belong to me. They should still be in my family's quarters. Keep low, and if I signal, hide."


They began to carefully creep down a few halls which James knew from his experience of time working for the vault guard, should not be heavily guarded at this time.

Heather did what she was told and stay quiet.

They snuck through the halls. James' mother had passed on a few years ago. His father was still here in the vault, along with his younger sister, Megan. Fortunately, his dad was working in the power station tonight, and Megan was already fast asleep. They snuck into his family's quarters, and he took a few boxes. He didn't take everything of value, he had no intentions of robbing his father and sister, but he worried they were too content with life in the vault, and might raise the alarms if he let them know he was back.


He took just a few boxes from that apartment, all things which had belonged to him or he had claim to. There were precious metals, ammo for guns, adhesives (which were very valuable outside the vault), some jewelry, and a few other things which should probably sell for a good price outside the vault.


"One more thing," he whispered as he quickly began to change into a fresh vault soon they had there in the room. He tossed another one to Heather. "Put this on. From here on out, your name is Megan. Call me dad." Heather actually had a similar hair color to Megan, and James could bear a passing resemblance to his father. They would almost certainly be discovered if anyone looked closely, but if they kept moving, they could probably pass as James' father and sister
