The Princesses of Ice

"Will do!" She said as she quickly ducked back inside. The other two were mostly compliant with their timeout, and soon after Makayla had ensured that the full 5 minutes had elapsed, the three of them emerged. Makayla and Lucy were now fully dressed. It seemed Keysi hadn't bothered to redress yet.

Michael watched her go and went to sit down. He needed rest, at least for a few minutes before he was ready to continue on with the day. The sun was still up, but it was getting late into the afternoon which meant it would be dinner time in a few hours. As he pondered on what they would eat he heard the girls walk out of the bedroom and looked over to see Keysi was still walking around without anything covering her butt.

“are you gonna put your shorts back on?” he asked her.

She said, "Well, my butt is really hot right now, and so it might feel nice to be in the snow without many clothes for a few hours."


Makayla rolled her eyes and said, "You know that mom wants you to be well covered up to go out and spend much time in the snow. Just put on some appropriate clothing."


Keysi was getting annoyed with her sister again, but she said, "Fine..." And began to walk down the hall to get more clothes.


"Can we play in the snow now?" Lucy asked.

Michael was thankful Makayla had handled that for him and gave a nod. “Yes you can, let me just get my coat,” he replied as he headed to grab his coat and scarf. Afterwards he’d return. They could spend a few hours out in the snow, and probably just until the girls got bored and wanted to come back inside. They seemed to bounce back pretty fast despite what just happened, which he was a little thankful fo.

They all went outside to play in the snow for a while. Lucy was thrilled to finally be in the snow! She had been dreaming about this for months! In her dreams, there had been less sting in her butt, but that seemed to be a minor detail compared with everything good. Building a snowman was taking a bit more effort than she had imagined, though. Makayla went over to help her.


Keysi was also pleased to be in the snow, even though she was wearing more clothing than she'd been anticipating. Still, she quickly put a bit of snow down the back of her pants to cool things off back there. Soon though, she was starting to ask more questions about when they might go skiing or do something else more adventurous. She was hardly content to just sit and play in the snow for very long!

Michael would watch them play and rolled his eyes when he saw Keysi place snow down her pants. he didn’t question her though and simply took a seat on one of the benches. When she asked him about skiing, he figured that tomorrow would be a good time.

“Tomorrow we can,” he answered. “Its a bit late right now, and I’d still have to get the skis anyway. We’ll get them first thing in the morning and plan a time to ski. Just remember to be careful when we do. Wouldn’t want to return you to my sister with a broken arm or something like that.”

She was a bit disappointed, but she knew that he was right. Besides, she wanted to get some pictures of herself in skiis zipping down the slopes to make all of her friends jealous, and it would be far better to take pictures in the day time! She said, "OK... If I do break an arm or a leg, I'll let you sign it, but only in small letters because I wanna make sure all of my friends have room to sign it, too!" It seemed she was severely underestimating the pain and inconvenience of breaking a bone, as she was just imagining showing off her cast to all of her friends. Still, she wasn't about to do anything that would DIRECTLY result in her breaking a bone.


Makayla was as usual, dressed in mostly dark colors, but as she and Lucy finished up making a snowman, an unusually mischievous smile crossed her face, and she remembered a few snowball fights she'd had with her dad when she was younger. She missed those days. She bent down and carefully made a snowball, and flung it at her uncle! Lucy was a bit shocked to see her big sister to do that, but Makayla was, for the first time in a while, beaming with pride as she did so!

Michael wanted to tell her that a broken bone wasn’t fun, but he didn’t want to ruin her little fantasy and decided to let her keep that thought for now. Hopefully nobody would get hurt, but one couldn’t be sure. While he continued to watch her he didn’t notice a white projectile coming towards him until it had hit in him in the face. He blinked a few times, confused by the cold before looking over to see Makayla smiling at him.

He wiped off his face before picking up some snow and running after her, tossing the snow ball at her. “Do start a war you can’t continue,” he chuckled while getting ready to throw another snow ball.

Makayla let out a good, genuine laugh as she ran away from her uncle and tried to hide behind some trees and make a few more snow balls. Keysi suddenly realized that in her desire to seek out adventure, she'd missed some fun right under her nose, and she quickly makes a small snow ball to fling at her uncle.


Lucy looks over at the small snowman she and Makayla had just built, and she whispers, "I'll be back to build you more later!" And she quickly picks up a snowball and flings it at Keysi who is still flinging them at her uncle.

The snowballs continued to fly through the air. While Michael had good aim, the girls were smaller than he was so they ended up getting hit much less than he did. He wasn’t sure how long they had gone on like this, but it was fun and certainly helped to ease tensions. When they started to end, the sky had already begun turning dark. Michael finally noticed the time and paused. “Alright girls, its time to head inside.”
