And yes it would be a fair question if it had not been asked at least 5 times before and been answered by those that make these games many times over already. A "Game Jam" is a fast paced short term event that ONLY lasts 2 weeks, and is not meant to produce a full on masterpiece. Though occasionally something extra special is born in them, but takes a long time to grow. Actually making a full on polished, multi partner creation is NOT happening in 2 weeks, much less 2 years on a site like this for free. If you want to think I am just being cranky, then keep right on being wrong. MMM'KAY? SMH

Correct but cranky. Reading this felt like listening to my late grandfather who had retired in 1995 and was an electrician. You do NOT mess with electric current and you do not beat about the bush else you die! Thank you for this.
Btw, it feels like some people never did team project in their life or cooperated with complete strangers via internet. As you said, this will not work on such a short timescale.

Idea for my entry: "Fee fo fae flogged" - The protagonist is a teenager living in the micronation of Bunisia (from Birthday Cards). They get teased about their looks and go to the forest to cry. A faery shows up in front of them, tells them "Hey there, good looking" and offers them a deal. The protagonist is never teased about their looks again! A year and a day later, a visitor comes to stay in your parent's house (because Bunisia doesn't have a hotel). They are delighted to have found a person who tricked them and stole their money. Its payback time!
The protagonist is spanked. They set out on a quest to find the faery who is making mischief in the form and name of the protagonist and get spanked multiple times for all the misdeeds. End game: the protagonist finds the faery, spanks them and returns all the things the faery has stolen / makes amends.

the internet is also riddled with people screaming into the void complaining that people don't research questions before asking them. I mean, don't get me wrong, I wish people would do so, but you say you're being realistic but you're fighting against human nature in an ineffective and pointless way. all you succeeded in doing is making one person feel bad for asking a question
also, this isn't even a particularly easy question to search for. it's subjective, not factual, you can't just google 'should i find buddies to gamejam with'... also doing so doesn't come up with the answer you gave (although I do personally agree with your answer, just not your attitude.)

It's extremely common for teams to form for game jams and this is a particularly long one, they're usually 2 days.
The issue here is the scale of the site and the experience of those involved, if you're working across time zones the devs need to have enough experience to work separately towards a common goal, there aren't really enough people involved to form cohesive teams as you would have in the GGJ or Ludum Dare for example.

I can't blame anyone in this situation. I, too, am cranky about how tough it is to collaborate on a spanking game.
Maybe someday, though. I'll forever be an optimist!!

I am working on one, but I haven't finished the maps and have half done events. And clock is ticking...

Hm, I may extend the deadline. How about one more week? After all, not much point in a game jam with no games

Next year we should probably pitch a reward or something for the best game, doesnt need to be a big one just something to get eyes on it and all that stuff
