To me a nice spanking should be intimate and romantic, and standing in a dumb corner either before or after is NEITHER. When he had me do it before, I just wanted him to get on with it. I've only experienced the corner as sort of a half-time situation. It usually signals some transition in spanking implement or just gives my spanker time to talk to me when it's actually easier for me to pay attention.

On one hand, being made to stand in the corner (and not rub) would definitely emphasize the D/S element, which is a major turn on. On the other, it seems like it could also break up the flow of things. I guess if it was only for a minute or two, it could be okay.

Personally, if I sent a sub to the corner, I don't think I would have the self control to not jump her after a mere few seconds of seeing her red bottom on display.

I've heard it said that sometimes the spanker will put the spankee in cornertime before the spanking in order to allow the spanker a moment to cool their temper a bit.

I would love to be put in a corner--particularly beforehand or in between phases of a spanking. The closest I've ever come was during an enema when I headed for the toilet before I was given permission. I was told to stand up against the door and not move. I stood there for a few minutes while my husband found our leather paddle and proceeded to use it on me while I stood against the door. I'm not sure if that counts as corner time.

For me the idea of it builds anticipation. Afterward, I think I would enjoy it only if I were being watched or expecting another round.

After a "real" discipline spanking (though nothing we do is non-consensual), my knees are usually too weak for me to stand still.

If it is about RL, then cornertime is used INSTEAD of spanking for minor offences (being noisy, etc), and is never with a bare butt (YES! This is a pure kinko invention, just as gradual clothes removal during spanking, warmups, punishment logs etc, etc - that does not really happen anywhere except in fantasy and roleplaying). It is used for 'calming down' the child, like naughty step or similar things, and lasts several minutes. This is 'boringness' punishment. It is often used in those countries which are not rich enough and where parents don't shout 'go to your room!' because kids don't have such a luxury as their own whole room at all and have to stand in a corner. Most psychologist find it useful and non-abusive method for younger kids.

As for kinky games we all like here, cornertime is near to useless in this realm...
