With increasing impatience, Moira waited, cross legged in her chair by the large bay window of their home. She expected Luna thought she'd be in bed by now, but this wasn't the case. How could she sleep knowing that her gorgeous, precious girl was out there by herself at such an hour when perverts and drunks were about?

Oh, Luna was going to catch it alright.

As soon as the door closed, the older woman leaned over and tugged on the string to the floor lamp beside the chair. Her expression was flat, betraying no emotion as she eyed the latecomer.

"Waiting to ask you the same question," she said evenly, "And I should like a clear, honest answer from you. You know how I despise lying, gorgeous." That and she could always tell when Luna wasn't telling the complete truth.

"I told you I was going to be out with some of my friends. Besides, me coming home a couple hours late isn't that big of a deal," Luna said sassily, tossing her long, black hair over her shoulder.

"Isn't that big a deal?" The words came out I such a way that one would almost swear that the temperature dropped. And now sass on top of that? This would never do.

"Luna, dear, a few minutes late would be breaking a promise and pushing it, but coming home four hours later than I expected you to?" Moira was standing up now and advancing towards the smaller girl. "And what about the next time? Will it be six hours late? Ten?"

She shook her head, as though already picturing Luna deciding that this would be alright. "I don't have to tolerate this kind of behavior and I intend to show you that I don't. You may fetch the hairbrush from your room. The cherry wood hairbrush," she added.

But Moira was serious. She didn't speak again, only stared on in straight-mouthed silence. Once an order was given, it was not going to be repeated. Oh, Luna could protest all she wanted, but that would make the punishment so much worse in the end. She should know that by now, Moira believed.

Luna sighed. "Fine," she muttered. She then went and fetched the hairbrush and brought it back to Moira. She reluctantly handed it over.

A small smile played on her lips as Moira accepted the hairbrush. She then took Luna by the wrist and lead her to the large chair where, after smoothing out her long velvet skirt, she pulled the smaller girl down and across her lap.

"I ought to give you extra for that cheek of yours," she said.
