Appearance: You'll usually find Sphynx wearing his favorite black Baltimore Ravens hoodie and his pants are almost never pulled all the way up. His hair is typically an unkempt mop that's overdue for a haircut - your traditional tween boy hairstyle. He's VERY tall and broad for his age and is constantly mistaken as a much older teen. He has a powerful build from serious daily exercise and his love of physical sports.
History: Sphynx doesn't know his father and all he's known is abuse (physical, emotional, drug, and alcohol-related) from his mother. He has a younger brother named Gordon (10) whom he has spent more time raising than his own mother has. Gordon has Down Syndrome and has constantly needed Sphynx's protection while they were growing up.
Everything changed once Sphynx turned 12 and was big enough to fight back, instead of just taking the brunt of his mother's anger. It only happened once, and that was they day that his mother chose to move without letting either of her boys know - abandoning them. Sphynx and Gordon just figured it was simply one more time where mom would be gone for a day or two, but by the third day they were out of food. So Sphynx went down to the convenience store to steal a loaf of bread and some milk for his brother, but he got caught and arrested. After the boy's situation was revealed, he was released with minimum punitive measures and both he and Gordon were placed in foster care. Gordon lives separately, in a place where his special needs can be more adequately catered to.
Personality: Sphynx is still adjusting to living someplace where he doesn't know from where or when his next meal is coming. He sees himself as a protector, of sorts, of people who are smaller than him (even if they're older) and is somewhat suspicious of female authority figures. He's very physically active and loves sports and competition of all kinds. He's prone to acting impulsively and loves to have a good time. Though sometimes his thoughtlessness can result in (unintentional) hurt feelings.
School: Sphynx attends the local middle school where he receives resource help for a minor behavioral disorder. He plays on the 8th grade boys football team (he played on it in 6th and 7th grade as well). He's an adequate student who usually gets Cs and Ds. Given what they know of his previous home life, his teachers haven't pushed him too hard in the past.
Current Report Card:
Sphynx isn't the best student. He just doesn't get a lot of the concepts and it hasn't been until recently that he's gotten any help with school work at home. As such, his grades tend to be average at best. So far this year his progress report looks like this:

Interests/Hobbies: Sphynx loves playing (American) football. This year he's playing quarterback on offense and on defense prefers linebacker or D-line - any position where he can "punch someone in the mouth!" His favorite NFL player is a linebacker for the Ravens who is hailed as one of the best to ever play the game. His second favorite sport is Sumo, which he excels at since he's always been bigger and stronger than the rest of the kids his age! He also plays basketball, just because he's tall, but in his mind it isn't physical enough of a sport for Sphynx.
Miscellaneous: The person Sphynx trusts most is his football coach. At first he noticed Sphynx due to his size, but he also realized Sphynx has great talent and football intelligence. It was also him who tried to see to it Sphynx got what he wasn't getting at home, whether it was clothing (where his favorite hoodie came from), food (double breakfast/lunch whenever nobody was looking), or the occasional
responsible discipline.
Ever since coming to the Faust's, he has made almost daily use of the workout room in the basement. Since his lifetime dream is to become an NFL football player he takes fitness and weight training very seriously. It's not enough that he's naturally the biggest and strongest kid in his grade, he works out to put himself that much further over the top.
Occasionally he gets teased in school because children think he
must be older and was held back a grade, but in fact it's almost the opposite - he's one of the the youngest kids in his grade.
Sphynx has been given permission to spank the younger kids - whom he is almost daily caring for. Since he's spent so much of his life taking care of his biological brother, he feels out of place unless he's taking care of someone - and there's plenty of someones here. With the Faust's permission, he even helped develop an incentive system to get the lil' kids organized into getting their daily chores and responsibilities completed (resulting in a raise in his allowance!). When left to his own devices he can get into trouble, but when he's watching the kiddies he becomes a completely different person.
Relationships:
Oliver: At first he was indifferent to the mouse, then furious when Ollie blabbed a secret of his! However since then the two of them worked the issue out between themselves and Sphynx looks at Oliver as someone who needs his protection. He loves the fact that even though Ollie is older, Sphynx is way bigger - and that in and of itself triggers his "protector" instincts. He's probably the first friend Sphynx has ever made.
Jeremy: He's just about the same age as Sphynx's biological brother so whenever Jer is around he feels like he's gotta keep an eye on him. It's kinda weird for him though, since Jeremy seems pretty competent to take care of himself. He's glad that Jeremy's just as cuddly as Gordon though, so if he needs a hug himself, he can probably count on Jeremy needing one too (because big kids like Sphynx don't
need hugs y'know...).
Margaret: She was one of the first people to administer any manner of discipline to Sphynx and he didn't trust her in the least! He was pretty surprised when Maggie respected the fact that he didn't want to be held, touched, coddled, or comforted after a punishment even though she didn't quite understand it. As time's gone on he's pretty much come to trust her - and several of the other women in the house by extension.
Jack: Sphynx is pretty sure he likes her. Sure she's a female authority figure (so that's a strike against her) but she seems kinda low-key instead of overly bossy, affectionate, talkative, or nosy. To him she's more like "one of the guys" than anything else. In fact, he finds it rather fun and risk-free to mess with her in ways that the other kids find suicidal.
Eddy: He's like that brainy kid that always gets picked on in school. As far as Sphynx is concerned, Eddy is another person who needs his protection - mainly since he pretty much asked for it while talking about PE class in school next year. Having never used a computer or the internet outside of school, and not very often inside school, Sphynx was grateful for Eddy giving him a basic education. He seems like a nice kid.
Whisper: Sphynx feels like he has a lot in common with Whisper, from having a less-than-traditional first name down to the reasons why they ended up at the Fausts. He felt like fate brought them together and everything couldn't be better once they started going out together. However, everything came crashing down when she broke up with him, something he is convinced is all his fault, and he doesn't know what to do anymore - totally heartbroken. He's been holding up the slimmest of hopes that she'll give him another chance.
Evelyn: His initial opinion of her has been rather negative since it seems the only times he's seen her has been when she's been teasing Whisper. He had a nice, firm(handed) conversation with her about being respectful to Whisper, so he figures everything should be cool between the two of them.
Tempo: T-kun is another case of someone who he was ticked-off by at first. Ultimately he's not sure WHAT to think of him because sometimes he seems so helpless and other times he can be an insufferable brat with a mouth that needs to be slapped clean off his face. Tempo eventually started bothering Sphynx to the point he hauled off and punched him in the face. Tempo's asked for the opportunity to start over which Sphynx has granted him - though he doesn't expect anything to change.
