Haha, same here. That's an awesome way to put it. ^_^
I've been startled before, quite a bit, when playing games or reading books or even watching television (which I so rarely do). I love running across the references to a spanking, or even a threat of one, in entertainment. In real life, I prefer not to run across convos about it since usually those convos go in a direction that's far from my cup of tea. But in games and stuff, it's usually pretty fun.
Like when I played
Tales of Eternia/Tales of Destiny II (US version's name). I'm so glad I got a sermon after doing the confessional thing in Mintche, because I confessed first. I didn't know what it was, but I thought it would be fun. I went back and talked to him after the silly confession scene (which was cute) and asked for a sermon - which I was happy about being able to still do. And when I got the sermon, I got a nice little gem of a story about Farah releasing chickens because she didn't want them eaten and Reid mentions, "I felt bad for her, so I told everyone that I did it and got spanked for it."
There's two other scenes - one is a skit though, and they cut those out of the American version =( - that suggest spanking threats/events. That game seems to be the motherload, and I wonder how many skits I haven't seen that were cut from the English version that might have had more?!
To be quite honest,
Tales of games are filled to the brim with threats of spankings and of course everyone is pretty familiar with Raine's use of corporal punishment - but I was not surprised nor startled because I knew about the scene in the first
Tales of Symphonia game before I even had the game! Haha, it's the reason I got the game.
Still, I was pretty startled, and I have been in more Tales of games than just
Tales of Eternia. ^^;
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology has an itty bitty mention of it but it's pretty...vague considering I think it's just Harold being...well, Harold. o_O Haha. She was threatened to have her hide tanned by another character in the game and my brain went, "ohh...probably not spanking, huh?" (the spanko in me of course) Mormo says, all shocked, "She was going to skin you alive?!" and Harold goes, "No, spank me, you dolt!" xDD
Harold is full of win.
Also, Reid and Lloyd get cuffed on the head by Raine in that game in a skit.
And I got a shock during the beginning of
Tales of Vesperia when Yuri talks to someone in the lower quarter and you find out there's a lady there who is apparently very spank-happy...or so says her husband.
