Alice in Underland (for CP2000)
Alice Little was a 7 year old girl living with her father. He mother had died when she had been just three so it had just been the two of them. Well the two of them with Nanny. Alice didn't like her nanny, too much. Nanny said her father spoiled her. Alice thought Daddy treated her like a little princess which was just right.
Today Alice was sitting under a tree reading about her namesake. Alice Liddel -- the name sounded almost exactly like hers. That Alice had had a marvelous adventure in Wonderland and a second one through the looking glass. Daddy had read her those stories many times in many forms, but today Alice was looking through the book with the wonderful Tenniel illustrations. She was supposed to be doing her French lessons so Nanny could quiz her, and she wasn't supposed to have this book outside, but she'd be careful. Besides even if nanny caught her, she woldn't be spanked. Daddy didn't believe in that, though she'd heard Nanny try to convince him.
Just then a rabbit hopped by. Alice looked up. Well he wasn't dressed, he didn't have a watch, and he didn't say he was late, but he surely was hurrying.
She put her book down and raced after the rabbit. The rabbit ran back towards Alice's house. Alice couldn't keep up, but she'd mistakenly left the door open though she didn't think she had, but there it was open. Perhaps the rabbit had gone inside. Alice did as well.
Alice looked briefly until she heard her father call, "Alice, did you take the book? It should be right here." Daddy was in his study standing and pointing at an empty spot in the shelf.
"Oh, Alice said. "Um I'll help you look, Daddy."
Just then Nanny appeared holding the book. "She took it outside, Sir."
"Alice Little, what have I told you about that? Well I know some little girl who needs a good spanking."
Alice stared. "But Daddy you don't believe in spankings." she said. But that was when she noticed. Daddy's study was all wrong. And she'd turned left from the front door to get there not right. Somehow she must be in Looking Glass land and everything was opposite -- and the opposite Daddy did believe in spankings.
Alice backed away. "Daddy, you don't. I mean my daddy doesn't. You must be looking glass Daddy." She backed towards the door ready to run when Nanny grabbed her arm.
Nanny scolded. "Now now Alice. You mustn't tell fibs.
