What do you look for in a spanking game?
What do people look for when playing a spanking game?
Like, how many of you actually care about a game with a solid story, worldbuilding, character development, etc?
And how many would just prefer an interactive spanking simulator, either as a top or bottom?
A lot of the RPGMaker games, visual novels, text based adventures, have pretty decent story threads, characters, etc., which I do appreciate, but I'll admit, there are times where I'm there for the spanking scenes only.
What's the general consensus? Game makers, feel free to speak up as well.

I DO care about having a storyline and reason for the spanking scenes that happen. For me what I like to see in spanking games is:
- Scenes with visuals (whether animated or not; art can be simple too as something is usually better than nothing)
- Various appropriate sound effects
- Some kind of reasoning behind what's happening
- Mutiple outcomes to choices/actions (even if only for "important" ones)
I'm cool with both story/event-based games as well as interactive spanking simulators. I like both styles.

The question is interesting. I definitely want to get a game that is a real game. With an interesting plot, and with game mechanics that will be interesting in their own right, even if spanking scenes are completely removed from the game. Because if I just wanted to enjoy erotic scenes, I would turn to videos, not games.
Secondly, spanking scenes should be as interactive as possible, because, again, otherwise they are not much different from watching a video. Interactivity in the game gives immersion, which can only be obtained in games, when you control something yourself, make decisions.
Thirdly, I want to get more well-written, filled characters, because it gives the spanking scenes a more personal, intimate atmosphere. Something that you can only get in a story-heavy game where you interact and get to know the character for a long time before moving on to an spanking scene, and not "here's the girl you see for the first time, spank her!"
Summing up the above, the ideal spanking game I imagine is some kind of party RPG in which there is an interesting plot, and a group of heroes, overcoming certain difficulties together, gradually approach each other, and between them a spanking-based romantic relationship is established, or some situational spanking scenes simply arise.
And here the quality of the illustrations even fades into the background, for example, in many of my favorite games here, the illustrations are very simple, or the scenes generally take place on a dark screen.

the question is very interesting. I also think that the story and the interaction between characters is essential. for me it is very important that there is a reason that leads to a punishment. so for this the interaction between characters and the knowledge of these is important. if you want to look only at the scene you can watch a video. therefore a game must give the possibility of interaction and choice. for this reason in my opinion RPG games are the ones that best adapt to this mechanic.

Options, I love games that give a lot of options. I even like the text-based ones as long as you can enjoy playing it through again with entirely different results. It's a bit more daunting of a task than a well-crafted, linear sort of story and very set characters, but I'm always happy to dive into something with that kind of depth and variety.

I like rpg games with solid story and worldbuilding, character development is less important, but if a change happens to character, it must be justified and explained.
I don't care much if the scene has CG's, pixel art or textless, but sounds would be appreciated.
The spanking scenes should obviously be justified, because too much "brainless" spankings will make the game bland.
Multiple outcomes take a lot of time to develop, so shortening it to 2 choices will do the job: who will get spanked or will spank.
except for the endings, more choices would be appreciated

Personally, the reason I turn to games over videos and stuff, is that most other kinds of NSFW material gets boring to me.
Here I can focus on gameplay or story on the side while enjoying the spanking parts, that way my brain stays more engaged, and you get to know the characters more which makes the scenes feel more special.
There does need to be a good balance between the two, but I would prefer too much spanking over too much story/world building. It's still the part I'm here for, and on the opposite side I have found NSFW games (though not really spanking related) where the story is so good and in focus that the 'other' scenes become unwanted interruptions.
I also prefer text based games because they give the characters more personality and just more detail to spanking scenes in general. Visuals are nice too, but not necessary.
My ideal game would be similar to the style of Scarlet Moon: text based, some combat, focused on a small cast of characters and with a mix of romance options and bratty enemies.

It's always hard to define a "solid story" or good "word building". I think it's an important part of a spanking game but it shouldn't overshadow the theme in a significant way.
The best world building for me sets up a framework where the most spankings can take place in.
I'm also interested in the characters and how the spankings come to be, this is often half the fun of the spanking itself.
If I decide to play a "spanking game" I'm not interested in long sequences where nothing but set up happens,
the balance between setting up characters and situations needs to be balanced with spanking scenarios.
Otherwise why should I play a spanking game, when spanking doesn't play the main role?
Like others already said, I'm not particularly interested in a spanking simulator, because if I'm not in the mood for a game/story at the moment I watch videos/pictures about it.

This is a great question, and I've often seen quoted "make the game you want to see."
For my part the most important thing is the writing. SpankFantasy-2 should be right up my alley. Wisked into a magical world abound with spanking? Yes, please. Unfortunately, the broken writing really distracts from the experience. It's no-ones fault they weren't born in an English speaking country (neither was I), but it easily becomes a nuicance.
The characters should matter and what you do/choose should matter. The world is important. It can be fantasy or magical or western or sci-fi, I don't care, but the fact there are spankings happening everywhere changes how the world works. Take that into account. SpanQuest DX is probably the best example. A medieval world with kingdoms and magic and races, but everywhere there's just an acceptance of spanking as a tool for conflict resolution.
No game over. Generally, there should be no real danger to our heroes. Imagine playing a game for hours and then you're underpowered to take on a boss, or your character just dies from an enemy encounter. I don't want to risk a game over. This is supposed to be an escape from reality and game over states stress me out. Here Scarlett Moon is an amazing example of "no real danger". The MC can lose fights and get tied up by the villains, but for some reason they'll never take his/her mask off. The illusion lives! And you can skip fights completely.
Customisation. I'm a male switch, only interested in playing with women. Most videos and most games and frankly most people are geared towards the M/f dynamic. Great, me too! But at least half the time I want to see F/m. There's no reason really not to have the option of choosing your gender. There are plenty of plugins to make that transition easier, and for text games it should be obligatory. There are games where the MC is female, and even if all the rest is great I just can't get into it. The fantasy is to imagine I'm really there. Silkfang Respite, looking at you. Objectively an amazing game!
I don't care about graphics in RPGs and most of the time the sounds grow stale pretty quickly. A black screen with scolding works plenty. That being said, I would absolutely love a visual novel/CYOA with great graphics. Something like "Cure My Addiction" or "Headmaster" but with a plotline longer than a wank fantasy.
In summary, it should be a normalish game with no game over state, customisation of characters, a coherent world and lots of justified spankings.

For me the important thing is the set-up. Story and world building are great and all, but there does need to be a reason for a spanking. I'm a subby little slut so getting told why I'm being spanked the the severity are a huge part of scene along with the spanking itself.
That said if someone built a spanking simulator that let me input the reason, severity, position, implement and played a scene for me to enjoy I'd probably spend hours on it.
