My part of a for-fun Arttrade with Lady Shiroi

I do love F/M, needs moar to be drawn~ Especially by me and others~
Its a bit simplistic because its a bit quick, I'll let anyone fill in the gaps as to how Montrose's Disciplinary meeting went. I'm sure I don't need to say, it didn't go well.

New OCs, I may use them again in the future. I did actually name the doctor - who is head of the department by the way - but for the life of me I don't remember what it was.

I've occasionally been told "Hey, you use brash colours, and your pallete isn't japanese at all! Your stuff isn't anime style - not even a tiny bit. Never! Your art will never be japanese or manga style ever." so I did wonder what, in a printed page, my stuff might look.

Playing around, I've come up with this Printed Tone style for a picture I've been working on.
There's a colourised version which is the original, but I'll upload that another time.

The doctors thigh is a bit thick and I really think her thumb gripping the hairbrush isn't right but I couldn't find anything that helped me visualise it. I kinda made up his legs in the leglock and they're alright. I had a screenie for the arm-lock beacuse I couldn't figure that out at all.

Comments, as always, very welcome~

Truth be told, so are several other artists around here. I see no big problem there.

I don't even think that there really is one set "anime/manga style" You have CLAMP, Miyazaki, Tezuka, Toriyama. They all have different styles. I'll bet if you showed someone who has only seen new anime an old Astroboy comic, sans Japanese dialog, they wouldn't call it manga-style.

Yup, I can see what you are talking about, RobM. That is a difficult pose for pinning the arm back, in terms of drawing it. If you have a camera phone you could take a few pics of your own hand in that pose and use the pics as makeshift references. But again, it's a tough viewpoint to draw, I'll admit that I would prolly have some difficulty with it too. V_V

Huhuhu.....I just noticed that your male character is barefoot. So he's TOTALLY naked from the waist down, all the ways to his pink toes ! ^////^
I'm assuming then, since you are allowing fill in the blanks, that there was or will be an "examination" of some sort during this Disciplinary meeting ? I wonder if one of her plaques on the wall has a Corrective Therapy diploma on display. ;p

@ spankingfemfatale;
Its always welcome when it eventually does come though~

@Kyrapixie;
Thanks~ A powerful, confident woman is always sexy in her own right, but it doesn't help to push the issue a tad~ I know I like the NHS enough without having to fetishise them, but it certainly improves the image~

@ Circe;
I was going to draw him totally nude, but I cannot draw bare shoulders with it looking right. His arm was like a drumstick, so I sleeved him. Nurses scrubs and slipshoes aren't exactly the toughest thing to tug off and while stuff tangled around the ankles is cool, I didn't want anything in the way of the leglock, in fact with the suspender-slip I wanted to highlight the doctors strong leg as much as I could and draw the eye to it.

@ Collegeboy; Leonid;
My point exactly. I'm not good at detailing to just do plain lineart, I think. It'd look a little tedious and blank. But I'm more than satisfied with this halftone print-friendly look. After all, I need to keep up with my competition, _CF's art is so good, he's been PRINTED IN A FUCKING BOOK.

Hi Rob, You've done a phenomenal job with the toning - congrats. If you don't mind me asking, what software do you use? I've been test piloting Manga Studio for about a week now, and it's a great piece of software for creating manga and comics (loads of tones). I still like Paintshop Pro for many things though. Always curious to know what others are using.

Heh, haters gonna hate, don't pay too much attention to criticism if it isn't constructive

All in all, it came out rather well, the toning is excellent, gives it a very nice feel. Since you are aware that you need to work on your hands... Get at it, draw a bunch of them, it'll help.

Never be shy in taking reference when you're drawing, especially for tricky perspective or positions. It's the only way to learn, and truth be told, no professional illustrator, no matter how good, will tell you he or she never uses ref, it's part of the process.

Anyway, it's good to see you posting pics again

@ Reks;
Its a technique I found playing around with bitmap settings on photoshop. Increase the picture to a high DPI then convert from greyscale to bitmap with a half-tone screen, round-dots @ 250+ lines with DPI scaled to final image size.
I overlayed the resultant image with transparency on a monochrome base.

@ Rak;
This is about the pace I post at~ I'm glad you like the toning, I might actually use this again in the future, or even produce a short, actiony comic-set with this style.

My my, I didn't expect this to come out this good. The only thing I could complain about are the nurses legs.
The doctors legs are perfect, however, the nurses left foot, it looks a bit broken. I think you made the knee crook too low. It should be right under the doctors leg, otherwise it appears as if the leg would have two knees, or bent at an impossible angle.
As for the second leg... it's missing. We see the foot, but it's like it would be hanging in midair. I am missing the leg all together.
I admit this is not an easy pose to draw, and I don't want to be a smart ass, given I have never tried to draw something like that myself
Legs apart, the pic is great. I love the way you colored it, and the shading. And that is a one big brush. Did that woman bring it especially for the hearing, or does she keep it in that closed, you left open
