Hi there!! This is actually my first time posting something here, I'm very excited :P

So, i've noticed there seem to be no pictures of Professor Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective here - and that's a shame, so I thought I'd start with this one :P

In this picture you can see Professor Padraic Ratigan being a, well, professor, to Niky (my OC, on the right) and Samantha (my friend's OC, on the left).
They both live with him as he's their guardian, but he found himself teaching the class his two little mice attend. So, when the two missbehave in class, even after several warnings, the daddy and teacher has no other choice than to spank some good behaviour into his two little raskals :P

This comes from a request of the great and awesome Samantha, whom I thank and adore

I hope you guys liked it ^^ Let me know what you think! ^^

Ps: I know my name here does not correspond to the one in the picture, but don't worry: Niky94 is myaccount on Deviantart

great contribution, but you should probably scale the next one down a little when you submit it. Otherwise, love this one!

A little big, but a very nice pic!

This is absurdly sized: it's ridiculous to expect someone to view an image greater than 3500px.
Are you aware it's over a meter tall? That's more than 3 feet for those who don't do metric. I don't have a monitor this big. If I lived in Tokyo, Rome or New York I probably wouldn't have an apartment this big.
This isn't "a little big" - it's practically broken, you can't appreciate the image as a whole without resizing it yourself.

It honestly needs to be less than a quarter this size to be viewable comfortably. Unfortunately the replace function is busted on the site so you're stuck with it for now but resizing images is something you can do with websites in your browser these days.

Appreciate that you're not the artist and may not know all about image sizing and pixels but in future, keep posting single images to around 1000px wide or so. This one is fine at around 700px or so.

guys, first of all, thank you for commenting the pic. It's been nice of you to take interest in it, and I very much appreciate the compliments you have so kindly left.

But I have something to say as well.
First of all, the pic is NOT over 1 meter tall ( ~Sweet British Cyanide~ learn how to count before you say snappy things, please), it's barely 21 x 29 CENTIMETERS, which is the dimention of a regular piece of paper.

The reason it's so big, it's because I've used the same image I've posted on Deviantart, and the image looks perfect there. As I've said in the description, this was my FIRST TIME using this site, so I had no idea how this would have turned out.
So if you'd be so kind to tell me how to replace the image and what a optimal resolution would be, I'd be happy to change it for a smaller version, and be forever grateful for your help ^^

Unfortunately the replace function is boned so you're stuck with it. It's a known issue AotK is trying to find a work-around for but hopefully following the next software upgrade it's a problem that goes away.
In the mean time, if you want to reupload a new version, please feel free - although we don't have duplicates so you'd lose the comments you've already received... considering two of them are mine that's probably no great loss.

As noted, I appreciated you aren't the artist and may not know this stuff, there's no blame attached... unless you stick to your guns and try to defend it. As you said, until you uploaded it you had no idea, that's more than fair and again something I took into account the first time.

If you want to correct someone, however, please pick a topic you're informed on. It's so not 29 cm - if it was it'd be much better - it's well over a meter at this resolution, my mental maths says around 120cm (175x7, it's roughly 175mm per 500px @72 DPI which I assume this is) although I'm prepared to admit that might be off by a few percent. Just try scrolling through it, it takes ages, it is at least 3x bigger than you're saying.
Fake edit, after writing that I just opened it on my graphics software which tells me it's 123.74cm tall, seems my counting is just fine for four seconds of mental arithmetic. Phew!

The argument 'It looks okay on dA' is one that's come up before by people trying to contradict me and it's fundamentally flawed: dA automatically resizes peoples pictures. It looks okay there because their website has already done it for you and is making my point for me - that the image has to be resized to display properly. Our site displays the exact one you upload without changes.

As to the reason why I'm making a thing out of it - please believe it isn't because I'm a snappy tart who loves picking fights with people, that's about as far from the truth as it gets - it's because as noted this upload in this format is broken and you need to know that it's a bad thing.

The number one reason is obviously the comfort of viewing. As you can see it's impossible to get a complete picture when it's full-size as it will be in most browsers. You can imagine someone on their phone or a laptop will only be able to see a postage-stamp and even on my widescreen its several times longer than my monitor is deep so I can see a hand, an arm, a body, the top-half of the spankee, the bottom half of the spankee and the desk. I can't see any of those components together on the vertical it's the same in the horizontal. I honestly get more pleasure looking at the thumbnail version on the main screen.

The next reason (going to make it my last, this isn't about berating anyone, I mean that) is the colouring and hesitation marks.
This isn't a slur on the artist, if you go through the scores of pictures I've drawn and posted with a fine toothed comb and a magnifying glass you'll see marks where my colouring overspills the black lines, shading that doesn't fit, wobbles and hesitations in the lineart... I'm sure some will say you can see those quite clearly anyway.
Here, by having such a massive picture, they're thrown into sharp relief. I refer for example to the blots around the left-hand spankee character. It's totally normal to have those, I have those on my drawings, it's just something shrinking the image is designed to fade out and make unnoticeable.

At the risk of sounding patronising, I'm assuming these are things you don't/didn't know, which is why I'm telling you. I don't attach any negativity for not being aware of artistic tricks to suit an image someone else drew.

If I've come across as snappy I apologise. You've misread my tone and it's not my intention to cause offence or sound like it's personal. I do know what I'm writing about though.
