A little something for Nelson1977.
Andy was in trouble again. He'd been left under the care of the infamous "brat whisperer" babysitter, Clair, who had caught him playing with his ball indoors. Clair had warned him it wasn't safe to throw it around, as it risked breaking something...but he just didn't listen. The ball ended up hitting his mother's favourite wall clock, dislodging it from the wall and breaking it.
This wasn't the first time that Andy's reckless playing had broken a time-piece. Not too long ago, a game between him and his friend, Rodrigo, resulted in breaking his sister Angie's watch. Clair had learnt of this story from Angie and had said "If I had been there, I certainly would have a way of making sure he remembered." But her chance to demonstrated what that way was came sooner than expected.
And so, Clair quickly sprung into action, giving Andy's bare bottom a firm spanking with her hairbrush. After 30 solid smacks, she told him he would have to stand in the corner for five minutes. But as she ushered him to the corner, she took off her watch and gave it to him, along with some simple instructions.
"Hold my watch to your ear for the full five minutes you are in cornertime. Hopefully, the sound of its ticking will remind you to be a little more careful around other people's clocks and watches. Keep your other hand on your head, and I do not want to see them move from where they are...and don't you dare drop my watch and break it."
And so, Andy stood in the corner, sobbing to himself, one hand on his head, the other holding the watch steady. The ticking was relaxing, but it was constant...four times every second...it was starting to get on his nerves, and the smooth face of the watch was making his ear feel tingly.
After the five minutes passed, Clair took her watch back and gave him a great big cuddle, assuring Andy that he was forgiven and that she'd tell his mother not to punish him further. He was relieved...although the tingling sensation on his ear and the sound of the ticking in his head still lingered.....
