Level 2: (A user with 10 or more posts who has been a member over two weeks) have vastly reduced advertising (including removal of the large full screen closable adverts) Level 3: (A member who has been registered over a month and has over 50 posts, or has a special account like "artist" or "writer" sees minimal advertising. Level 4: (VIP Donators) receive no advertising.

To a masked Luchador a mask is part of the mythos of their persona. It's as much a part of them as it is for any superhero to maintain their secret identity.
As part of a regular match you'd have to be a real evil villain to target a Luchador's mask or try to remove it.
There's decades of cultural implications tying in with many aspirational figures, folk-heroes and celebrities in Mexico and other regions.
You could associate it with other masked figures such as Scarlet Pimpernel, Robin Hood or Zorro (with the exception that professional wresting is real) in pop culture.
In Lucha libre the ultimate match stipulation is to have a match in which the loser removes their mask. Moreso than a 'loser leaves town' match - it's effectively a Luchador putting their entire career up as the stakes for the match. If they lose they're effectively out forever.
To be driven to put their mask at risk in a match is something done only when the prize for winning is so great its worth it or if the person they're trying to get to agree to a match is such a weaselly dirtbag that it takes a stipulation like that to get them to enter the ring.
It should be noted that spanking is *very* common in professional wrestling where things like humiliating and degrading your opponent or showing your superiority in strength or a disparity in reach is entirely normal. It can range from a good, loud, open-handed slap over the rear or thighs to actually hanging your opponent over/between the ropes for a few smacks through to actual otk spanking.
I'm not aware its legit been used as a submission move - even when I saw it with a RL mother and daughter wrestling in east London - but it is a delightful part of the repertoire for mens, womens or inter-gender matches.
I think the most recent I saw was Her Highness Emi Sakura giving Toni Storm one helluva slap over her tight briefs on youtube show AEW Dark.

As for someone tapping out to a spanking, afaik it has only ever happened in custom matches, where a customer will pay the wrestlers to have a match scipted by them. I've heard it has happened once in a "real" match to a wrestler called MJ Payne(who was the victim of plenty of other spankings btw), but sadly i never saw any evidence of it.
