In a lot of ways, Kurenai saw Hinata as her own daughter. Which was why she wanted nothing but the best for her student and wants Hinata to become a better shinobi. Which includes her being more confident in herself.
So, one day, Kurenai pulled Hinata along and told the fresh Chuunin that in this mission, she'd be in charge.
"W-what?!"
"Yes, Hinata; you will lead me on this mission." Kurenai would explain, "I am your Genin pupil. So I will be in your hands this time."
"B-but Kurenai-Sensei-"
"Ah ah ah, no. This mission, you're the sensei. I think that this will help you gain some confidence."
Kurenai knows that Hinata is a competent shinobi. It's just that she's also a follower and a wall flower, typically leaning back and letting Kiba and Shino take point, if not some other teammate. And she knows Hinata has so much more potential if she just forced it out. Thankfully, this mission wasn't a 'too dangerous' mission and this would give Hinata a chance to try and gain a little confidence.
Inevitably, however, Hinata was her usual, meek self. She supposed she couldn't blame Hinata; even with full permission, the idea of bossing around your teacher was probably very daunting. So, Kurenai decided to...force Hinata's hand a bit.
PINCH!
"ACK! K-Kurenai!"
"Oops, sorry, Sensei~" Kurenai would tease after pinching the young Hyuga's butt.
They had been walking for an hour now and Kurenai had sure been playing the role of a bratty Genin. And Hinata was reaching her boiling point.
Suddenly, Hinata had grabed Kurenai and began to drag her along.
"H-huh?! H-Hinata?" The silence was murder. Despite Kurenai prodding, Hinata didn't respond. She just took a seat on a stump and hauled her sensei across her lap! "H-Hinata?!"
SMACK!
In seconds, her butt was bare and Hinata was spanking her!
"You've been acting like a brat this entire time." Hinata said, with a certain tranquil calm that made Kurenai shudder. "And I won't put up with it."
The spanking sure did hurt, but in a way, Kurenai was beaming with pride. After all, Hinata was finally putting her foot down!
As well as her hand. Kurenai never imagined getting spanked by a Gentle Fist user would hurt so much...
