crossover-discipline

I finally caved in and got a drawing tablet. It will probably take a while to get used to it properly, so drawing quality will have to suffer in the meantime. I can't really say it makes drawing faster or easier for me, but it becomes more fun, which instantly makes it worth it.

This scene is based on some Second Life stuff. Just the two most lewded characters from Digimon and Pokemon joining forces to give proper ass whoopings to a couple of boys.

Spankers: Renamon (Digimon) & Lopunny (Pokemon)
Spankees: human Sedric (me) & human femboy Lex (LexToonDog)

Well well, It seems like Sedric keeps getting his butt whacked together with the friends he makes in the way as usual~

Also congrats on your tablet! It will take some time to get accuetomed to but your wrist will thank you later!

@LexToonDog We might have defeated them, but it didn't make our butts any less sore, and it's not gonna be the last time it happens either :3
@Georm Thank you! I was hoping it would speed up the process, but now I'm sturggling with lineart with my shaky hands where I was struggling with uncomfortable mouse. Sketching is way more pleasant now though!

i wish i had one honestly,

i draw so much better when i can actuualy see what i am drawing without having to look up..

same with typing honestly

my original medium was note books and mechanical pencils and black sharpies...

the only big problem with that is that it is surprisingly difficult to transfer my physical art to digital format without having to redraw it all..

its very frustrating

I didn't get a fancy expensive tablet, so I still have to look up at the screen while trusting my hand to do something useful without supervision lol, but it's not that big of a deal to get used to it.

You could scan traditional art with high dpi and post it without any edits.

I know you dislike the idea of trying different drawing software, but I really believe you'd have better time with something that supports layers and mouse smoothing.

I never made the jump to tablet drawing, but this looks solid for a first attempt! I'm sure you'll gain speed quickly. Making the art process fun and streamlined is the big thing.

edit: Looking at your older art - this honestly doesn't look that different, besides a bit lighter line weight - what was your process before?

Regarding worldpeaceful's quandary - I've had decent results scanning physical line art and then editing and coloring with a mouse... lines with a mouse is fucking hard but coloring isn't so bad. Even a phone picture of B/W line art is doable with appropriate post processing. Many ways to skin a cat, continuing experimentation is key.

The process didn't change at all, I just use a tablet instead of a mouse for it. Without going into much detail, it's just doodling and sketching small pictures until I figure out the poses and such, then I enlarge them and draw over them to make nice lineart. Then color, draw background, etc.

Initially I just used mouse with no assists, then I discovered mouse smoothing and things started going much better. Still, sometimes it took dozens of attempts to draw a single line just the way I wanted it. I was hoping to solve this issue with a tablet, but I still struggle because I don't have any experience doing traditional art with a pencil. If you look closely you'll notice that lines aren't as smooth compared to my older drawings I did with a mouse. My hand is just not steady enough while holding a tablet pen (yeah I guess you can enable smoothing even with the tablet, but apparently it's the 'wrong' way to do it so I don't use it).

I think I'm slowly getting a bit better at it though. The picture I'm working on currently is coming out easier than this one.

Wow, so you were even thumbnail sketching with a mouse before? Never would have guessed... respect! Your composition and anatomy are shockingly good given that fact.

Thank you! Instead of studying anatomy properly, I just make edits until the picture stops looking too weird. Happy to know it works at least on some level hehe)
