"Where are your grocery bags, then?" Miles asked, amused by the poor attempt at deception.
"We were just, uh, window shopping. Over there. At the grocery store," Erica fumbled.
"And you went nowhere else tonight?" Miles asked.
Erica shook her head and looked down. She was nervously sweating now. He was on to her. He was definitely on to her. But, being the foolish girl that she was, she decided to double down on her lies, hoping against all odds that he would just believe their lies and leave it alone, that he didn't have any hard evidence of where they actually were.
"Quick question for you," Miles said. Erica looked up. "Yes, what is it?"
Miles pulled out his phone and showed them the screen. "Did you forget that you have your location turned on" he asked, smiling with a menacing sweetness. Erica's heart sunk into her stomach.
On his screen she could see a little pink dot with the name "princess" on a map, currently at their home. But beneath the map was a list titled 'recent locations,' with all the previous addresses she had been at, and at which times. The third item on the list read "STATIC PULSE NIGHTCLUB 2:39 AM."
She looked at him. She opened her mouth to argue, to lie, but the look on his face told her there was no getting out of this. She sighed. "Can it at least not be in front of Alyssa?" she begged. He wasn't in a mood to negotiate. "On the bed. Bottom up. Now," he demanded.
