This the same dad who spoiled her all her life and never disciplined her, leaving her on poor Maka's mom's doorstep when his past catches up to him? If so, I suppose I could see this if she comes back to Europe after a few years with mom, or comes to Europe to visit (either one) and puts herself in danger because she loves her dad. Meanwhile dad heard her mother has spanked her, more than once, and she said it seems to work. Since he loves her this spanking is severe because a) all the spankings he should have given her but didn't leading her to be a spoiled brat until she was 15 and b) she did something extraordinarily stupid and/or dangerous and he wants to make sure she never puts herself in such danger again. So now both momma and dad have shown her they love her enough to actually discipline or punish her when she needs it.
