Sure, no problem. I really recommend skipping Paint and Gimp, which were the two most popular beginner digital art programs when I was starting out, and just going for SAI. Technically, it's not free, but if you search for it cracked, you can get it for free. An older, cheaper version of Photoshop elements (9 is good) will be fine for coloring too.

Depends. I use a lot of different programs. I prefer to sketch on paper, but I also have a Wacom tablet. If I do it on paper, then I either scan or take a picture with my phone. Then I do the line work in Paint Tool SAI (by far the best and smoothest program for lines). It looks like this when done: https://beta-static.photobucket.com/...080&fit=bounds


Then, you do the coloring. You can use SAI for that too, but I prefer Photoshop CS for serious projects. For drawings I'm not posting to promote myself or make money (like the ones of our characters that I sketch when I have the time,) I just use SAI. If you color in an outside program, you'll probably need to go back into SAI when you're done and redo the lines because they get frayed.

Yeah, that's why I do digital coloring. It's a lot easier.

That's good! Facial symmetry in particular took a long time for me to get, and I'm still not perfect.
