That's it; I hope these messages answer your questions. I'm sorry I've sent so many VM's, but I'm notorious for that, also I thought my reply would be brief. One more thing: what are your feelings re. nudity, at least with Pat? He has to be bathed, and his sitter does it. A lot of times he's paddled with a scrubbrush for any misbehavior or disobedience. Likewise, he's stripped at night for his sitter to put on his PJs, but she hairbrushes him totally bare before she does it. Anyway, I've said enough, and I welcome your character Amy, for all kinds of reasons! Bye for now---

The main reason for Pat's general exclusion of family affairs, and his gradual relegation to the care of a babysitter--a nanny was under an ethical code to CARE for her charge, a babysitter was not --the reason for all this was his parents' general disappointment in his performance at school and, well, the streak of naughtiness he showed now was basic laziness, so when his parents began to "give up" on him.. But even though Pat passed 9th grade with average marks his parents totally yanked him out of school, and to teach him a further lesson they made him work to pay his rent, and to pay his 16-year-old sister her fee to give him a bath--for "disciplinary reasons." As I said no one in the family spanks him, except that one occasion in which his sister gives him a very hard smack on the bottom. Everyone else is pretty much allowed their privacy.

The foster parents of Pat, when they first meet him, are charmed by his speech, politeness-respect, and physical appearance, and, as with Dox's parents, Pat's foster parents are allotted 2000 dollars a month for Pat's support. At first they spend a little bit on him but later his foster mom lies to him and tells him, "your father has lost his job, and I'm afraid we're all going to have to tighten our belts." The parents' two daughters are let in on the lie, and their parents each give them $500. a month, to spend as they wish, from Pat's child support, while the parents spent the rest on all sorts of fine things, still having enough left over to put in the bank. Pat is 13 when he arrives at the orphanage--I've already told you why. He is in fact a little mischievous, but he is so charming and cute that he always talks his way out of trouble. But Pat becomes a little bit more blatantly naughty when the orphanage deems he can't go to the regular high school class at the orphanage, even though it only goes through the 9th grade--5 being the legal age for a kid to be out of school. So he does get into some trouble at the orphanage, and in fact is suspended twice, one for out-and-out fist fighting, which Pat was not responsible for, and again for being involved in a minor scuffle. His effervescent personality wins him only one day of suspension--instead of more. Corporal punishment is banned at the orphanage. If it were allowed it's certain that Pat would be way too smart to misbehave, no matter what the circumstances. [cont. above.]

His foster parents do kinda "give him a chance," a period of "behavioral response" to his family; they do give him some chores, but not that many, and at first treat him pretty well. But maybe you thin Rox does not respond well to this; maybe you want him to be a "problem child"--of course it's all up to you--and over the next few weeks of their discovery of these things, they add to his chores and familial-restrictions--till he's virtually a live-in "chore-boy," paddled with a hairbrush everytime the baby sitter has trouble with him.. . . . I hope I've answered that uestion. But I have added that his parents are paid 2,ooo dollars a month child support for Dox, but they put this either in trust funds for their own kids, bonuses in their allowance, and stuff for themselves. They don't ever spend a penny of it on Dox, and neither the government or the agency where dad works ever check up on this. . . . As to Dox's response to this injustice, i'll let you decide. Dox is yours.

Anyway, I don't think the state obligates Dox's new parents ever to formally adopt him as a son, to become his Legal Guardians (formal), or (informal); if he's a foster child and nothing more, his "parents" have the right to return him to the orphanage at anytime with any or no reason; the also can foster him out to another family at anytime to another qualified family. He may not be "thrown out" of his foster parents' home till age 18, and if he runs away before that they need only to give relevant information once, then forget it--but they lose their 2,ooo dollar stipend until the kid is found. Finally, if Dox is arrested, and thrown in juvie, or if "old enough" into jail, his foster parents legally are under no obligation to help him, and if he's sent either to reform school or prison, all legal ties to the foster parents are cut off from Rox. He's on his own when released. [cont. above]

I think I've told you the rest regarding Dox, but let me repeat: the position of the parents as fosters of Dox, as laid out by the dad'd work place, was the obligation to provide him with food and shelter, and he has to be allowed to attend school up to a certain age (15, almost nationally recognized). Naturally, Dox needs to be free from "abuse"--not specified, but his parents think it only refers to sexual and physical abuse)> Thus they themselves never spank him, but the babysitter, a high school cheerleader, for example, has to drag him to his bedroom to go to bed, at 8 PM, the others staying up, etc. The babysitter whips his butt after stripping him to his underwear, often bare with a hairbrush. [cont. from below] Likewise they ask him how well he does in school--if the orphanage has one, and what his work ethic is. You decide what Rox's answers are, but the dad insists that he should "not be afraid of chores, since all of my kids do them." This is a lie. They had a housekeeper, but she was dismissed as soon as the foster parents found out they would be taking in a boy.

You may not like or agree with my analysis of Rox's foster parents, and if you don't like it you can change it. But it seems, at least to me, that this couple is, first, concerned about the dad's recent promotion, and they hope for, and later receive, an increase in his salary; the 2,000 a month the parents receive for child support; and finally, so they can save on maid service by making Dox do a substantial bit of work around the house, and outside, free service for the parents. Also, you can if you want show advantages kids get from Dox. [cont. above.]
