Adopting michief

[Shadowlight]

twenty six year old Lane Sinclair made her way toward the orphanage, wondering just what child she would end up adopting. She had wanted to adopt for a long time but had just gotten the nerve to do it.
As she walked however she was suddenly caught off guard by a cascade of water pouring down upon her.

"What the hell?"

She yelped, looking up before just shaking her head and walking into the building.

Cass smirked,the 13 year old had managed to hit a couple targets with a bucket of ice water she had snuck out of the kitchen when the workers weren't pay attention. She had gotten bored and restless when she turned 13,usually the point of no return for most people in the system so she figured might as well cause as much chaos as she could to make others share in her suffering.

Lane sighed as she was lead upstairs to where the older residents were housed, perfering not to tell the headmistress about the water coming from a child of that building since it was harmless and she had been caned for less while growing up.

"This is the oldest girl here, Cass...come here and introduce yourself."

The headmistress ordered

"Why?" Cass asked with a raised brow,unable to contain the smirk at her wet clothing

Lane knew instantly that this was the culprit and narrowed her eyes slightly though she wasn't exactly angry.

"let me talk with her alone, she's around the age I was thinking of."

She stated, waiting until the headmistress was out of earshot that she spoke again to Cass

"That boring here that you try to drown people on the street?"

She grumbled before adding


"You wouldn't mind living with a single parent would you?"

She asked, jumping right to the point.

Cass smirk grew a bit "Look like you needed a bath is all" she said with a shrug "Dad was a single parent before he ran off when I was 7 so no,why?"

"I was thinking about adopting you. The head said you were one of the oldest here." Lane answered, smiling slightly.

She could take a joke, when it was harmless and water was just that, harmless.

[Chris]

"You'd want the oldest one here?" Cass asked a bit surprised "Not one of the cute little ones you can dress up?" she continued "Hey,it's your call. A roofs a roof"

Lane chuckled
"I'd rather have an older kid. Besides that, I was in the system. I remember all too well how it felt."


She stated then added

"Get your stuff together while I go get the papers drawn up. And don't try to drown anyone else."

She grinned slightly as she said this, teasing obvious in her tone.

Cass blinked a few times then nodded,gathering what little she had into a backpack and headed into the foyer
