Well, this first one is a little obvious...
Sakura Haruno! There's just a little something about her. Everything. I really love Sakura in many ways, she's strong but weak, vulnerable but powerful. Possessing a strange destiny and fate...
None of this post intends to refer to my OOC sp art. I just have such strong feelings about this odd pink haired girl. She is an object lesson as well for people who let themselves be comsumed by something - her love for Sasuke, which verges more on an imfatuiation sometimes is her greatest problem - and she can't seem to shake it. At least, not in the short term.
I do like so many things about her, not least that she IS just so vulnerable, but has this
Fire in her eyes. Sakura is just an interesting character and even when I'm screaming at the screen for her to DO something rather than just rush about Emo'ing at people then I still can forgive her.
It's just who she is. She broke up her freindship with Ino and she turned two best friends into rivals (I blame her far more than Ino who it is my belief only turned to her rivalry in the face of such opposition and rivalry from her best friend, a caring which during the forst saga and their fight in the chuunin exams really comes through again).
Sakura is a wonderful character to my eyes and I could wax lyrical about her for ages... but I want to spare some thread space for my real love and my real Idol.

Mylene Maxamillian Flair Jenious (various spellings) or alternately Mylene Sterling.
She is my Number ONE Idol.
Mylene is daughter of Myria (various spellings) or alternately Millia Flair Jenious from Robotech and Macross.
I ADOREall Macross and Robotech. I own the DVDs and I've seen my favourite series in which Mylene is the main character - Macross7 - maybe a dozen times. All 52 epsiodes, 4 specials, movie and 4 OVAs. I've seen them Dozens of times beacuse it's my number-1 favourite anime (with Azumanga Daioh and number-2 spot).
The series itself is, like all Macross/Roboteches a musical series, with mecha fights in which thousands of fighters and hundreds of aircraft carriers and battleships engage in spiralling fights across hundreds of thousands of cubic kilometres of space.
Mylene herself is just a pink haired 14 year old (who is about 40 in sarcasm and cynacism) plays the base guitar and is a member of the rock group "
Fire Bomber" on the colony ship
City-Seven, searching the far reaches of the Galaxy looking for somewhere to colonise and call home. This series is set just after the OVA
Macross Plus which in turn follows the first series of Robotech and the film
Macross: Do you remember love. Music from both
Fire Bomber and the
Macross Plus singer
Sharon Apple can be heard in both series in the background. Despite being made years after, this is all before the Masters Saga or the Invid invasion (for those who follow the incredibly long saga's of Macross... it's longer than DragonBall and new series are still being made).
Mylene is half-human and half-Zentradi and what I adore about her, is her complete usefulness. She occasionally screams when in danger but for 90% of the series she gets up and makes herself useful, when the city was breached and attacked she even jumps - without hesitation - into a crashed mech and engages the foe to save her friends. She has such pace and energy, shes the most genki character I'm aware of, shes just a really down-to-earth character. What's more - her personality is perfect. She's a real minx most of the time, without being even slightly bratty.
I can't put into words what a great character I think she is, I've held her up as my favourite character in all anime since the first episode I saw of macross7 back in 2002.
The most recent Macross made was
Macross Zero and that is freely available on fansub and I highly recomend you get it as while it's harder to watch, its an easier start point than the 50 odd episodes of
Macross7.
I've not mentioned a lot about her co-star, Basara, who is the best male anime character EVER. It's a shame I can't go into him without making this thread almost a mile long - but Macross7 is the best series I've ever seen. It's just beyond amazing and the music it has just blows me away. I love the mix of action, romance, emotion, humour and Rock Music.
I've only done a few Sp pics with Mylene and they were a long time ago, she and her mum are almost an excellent couple... but I don't fancy adding them anymore, I love Mylene too much to see her punished~
For me, what makes Mylene great is that she just wants to have fun. It's what she's about really, she's a caring and genki girl, with a base guitar, a cute Pikachuu style pet named Gubaba who sits on her shoulder, a cool outlook on life and is just so much fun to be around and to watch.
