Michael followed him into the mead hall where there was plenty eat and drink. He got himself some water and some meat from a wild boar that a kings huntsman had killed and prepared.

Cain yelped and whined. "Ow!! I know, I'm sorry!" He said, whimpering as he kicked his legs and felt the hot tears sting his eyes. "Please stop!!"

Richard smiled at his squire and ruffled his hair. He got some meat and some ale. Nothing like a good meal.

Brutus seeing that he learned his lesson landed a few more smacks before stopping and pulling him into his arms for a tight hug.

Michael looked at his mentors drink,"Ooh can I try?" He asked.

Jared smiled,"Good boy." He praised and pulled his pants back up,"Now then lets go get something to eat."

Cain cried sadly, hiding his face in the man's large chest. "I'm sorry..." He said softly, but not for the reason Brutus thought. He was sorry for lying and allowing himself to be picked on by bullies.

"Ale? Oh no boy, not yet. You're far too young." He said, patting his head as he began to eat his food. "Hmm...how old are you Michael?"

Hoaris nodded, rubbing his bum some before they walked out into the mead hall.

Brutus ran his hand through the boys hair to soothe him,"Shh its okay." He said and noticed the sad look,"Cain..is there something you arenot telling me?" He asked worriedly.

Michael gave a pout,"Aww just a sip?" He asked and smiled,"I am fourteen." He told him.

Jared lead him inside,"Get whatever you like but stay away from the ale."

Cain looked at Brutus before shaking his head. "No...it's nothing to worry about, I have a few coins from before that you gave me...we can go buy the fruit together..." That way the boys wouldn't harass him again.

"Fourteen? Definitely not. Not until you're eighteen. I don't want you even going near ale, let alone drinking it."

Hoaris nodded and went to get some food. He filled his plate before carefully sitting down to eat."

Brutus thought about it and smiled,"Alright then." He said and helped him stand before grabbing his coat and put his boots on.

Michael sulked,"Thats too long!" He bemoaned and squirmed in his seat.

Jared got some ale and meat and veggies before sitting down beside his squire.

Cain sniffled a bit as he made sure his boots were on right, fixed his pants and put on his jacket.

"It will be worth the wait...now, I mean it. No going near the ale." He told him firmly as he ate.

Hoaris looked over at the knight as he ate his food and looked over at his drink. "Why can't I have some ale?"

Michael sighed,"Yes sir." He said and sipped his water.

"Because you are too young." Jared answered simply,"You can have it when you are eighteen."

Cain nodded. "Yes, I just want to quickly get the fruit." He said as he headed out of the shop and towards the fruit stand. The woman who had been at the stand before looked over and smiled. "Oh you're back. Did you finish all that fruit already?"

Richard nodded. "Good lad. Now I'll be back in a moment. You stay put." He said as he stood up and left the mead hall for a moment.

Hoaris huffed a bit and looked down some. Being young was so unfair when you were young. "But we're learning to fight like knights, why can't we drink like them?"
