Michael smiled, looking proud of himself when he saw his mentor fall to one knee and even say that he was learning. He nodded and got back to his postion when told to see how well he can dodge,"Ready!" He said getting into a stance. Being sure to keep his self steady like he was told to do.

Brutus looked back to see he had already finished setting the table,"Good boy." He praised. Then, looked in the oven,"The beef won't be done cooking for awhile. Go get some vegetables from the storage room and I can wash and cut them up while were waiting for this to cook.

"Now, just like a foe wouldn't hold back on you, neither will I. It is your job to be sure that you can dodge, no one will have be easy on you." He said as he rushed the boy, moving to knock him down to the ground.

"Yes sir, I'll get it right away." He said as he hurried to the storage room. He looked around, grabbing some of his favorite vegetables, broccoli and cabbage and hurried to Brutus. "Here you are, Are these good?" He asked, doing his best to keep on his good side.

"Yes sir." Michael replied showing he understood and prepared himself as Richard charged. He moved quickly to the side to dodge the older.

Brutus looked down,"Yes these are good." He chuckled as he took them,"But I may need more than just these vegetables..Perhaps some carrots and some peas?"

Richard was proud as Michael dodged, but Richard quickly turned and got the boy in the chest. "Sometimes your opponent will have something ready, you have to learn to expect the unexpected.

Cain pouted a bit, he wasn't much of a fan of carrots, but he was in no place to argue. He hurried back to the storage room and grabbed the carrots and peas and presented them to Brutus. "Here you go." He said with a small smile.

Michael let out a grunt of surprise as he was got in the chest, but quickly recovered,"Oh okay..so does that mean I have to be ready to dodge a second time?" He asked curiously.

Brutus smiled when he obeyed and patted the boys head,"Good boy." He praised and started to wash the vegetables before chopping them up. Then putting each into an individual bowl,"Well I better go check on the beef." he said as he set the bowls of veggies on the table.

"That is exactly right. I want you to be prepared for anything once you are a knight." Richard said with a soft smile. "Well then, it's starting to get late, that is enough training for today, Michael." He said, patting his head softly.

Cain smiled softly as he headed towards the table since dinner would be ready, however he stood by the chair and stared at it, not sure if he would even want to sit down. His bottom was sore and he didn't want to sit there and squirm around.

"Okay sir I will I promise." He said happily, and while he smiled at having his hair patted he was still sad to see that training was over,"Already? But I am still full of energy sir."

Brutus looked over and smiled in sympathy,"Would you like to get s cushion to make sitting more comfortable?" He asked as he searched for an old pillow he had from when he was an apprentice and had trouble sitting comfortably.

"Well perhaps you can save that energy for tomorrow and perhaps show up on time?" He asked, gently patting his shoulder. "Now you go on and hurry home. Get some rest for tomorrow because that's when your real training begins."

Cain quickly looked over at Brutus when he asked him if he wanted a pillow. He blushed deeply and quickly looked away. "I don't really think I deserve it..." He said softly as he rubbed his bum softly.

Michael smiled at that,"Okay sir and I will try my best." He promised when told to try and show up on time before scampering off down the path toward his home.

"Now you have already been punished and you were sorry for what you did." Brutus told the boy,"You should have a pillow." He handed it to him.

(I got an idea. What if Jared gets an apprentice too and him and Michael become rivals like Richard and Jared were? )

Richard chuckled and watched Michael go. He mounted his horse and headed off to his own home to prepare for tomorrow.

Cain took the pillow and nodded as he put it on his seat and slowly sat down. "Thank you sir." He smiled softly and waited for the beast.

(Good idea. Would you like to be Jared, I'd be his squire and then we got ourselves a rivalry?)
