Avatar: The New Legend (For Wheels)

Once she left, Zuko clutched his head. He knew that he had done something stupid. She wanted to comfort him, and he reacted with scorn...he sighed to himself, wondering if this was his future. Sailing on a boat, for a myth? No, he had to find the avatar, he had to. That way he could regain his honor. Meanwhile, Iroh knocked on Katie's door. "Are you in there/' he asked hopefully, hoping that Zuko didn't spank her.

Katie felt sad for Zuko, but he needed time to process this and she did not want to stand in his way Katie would be there for him when he was ready, but would try not to force herself to be around him either. She saw Iroh in the doorway. “Yes, everything is fine. Zuko is just very stressed right now,” Katie said. She felt bad for the boy.

Iroh sighed to himself. "He is very stressed," he said. "I hope he will calm down soon," he noted, knowing that it wasn't likely. Then he gave a warm smile as he beckoned Katie to his room. "Would you care for some tea," he asked politely, figuring that the best solution was to let Zuko stew for now.

Katie knee that Zuko would calm down eventually, but she was getting inpatient and annoyed. She had been nice earlier, but she was not the most patient type. “I know, but he was extremely rude and so very much thinking his life is over. He acts like his dad’s approval is who he is, but that’s not true. He’s Zuko, not some puppet meant to find the Avatar for the rest of his life,” Katie said.

Iroh sighed. Katie was right, but of course Zuko wouldn't see it that way. "You are looking at this from the view of an outsider," Iroh gently reminded her. "Remember that it normally takes a great deal for a son to hate their parents. Even I am not sure how much I hate my brother," he pointed out, knowing that Ozai was horrible. "And Zuko went through something horrible, from a man he loved. He is not going to understand, yet."

Katie understood she did not understand what it was like to have parents that did not want her or were disappointed in that sense. Her father was dead and had always loved her when she was alive. However, she had a mother still alive that had left her because Katie looked like her father. Her mother hated him. “I do in a sense. My mother is alive somewhere, but wants nothing to do with me just because I look like my father,” She said.

Iron looked apologetic as he poured her a cup of tea. "Here, I think that this will help," he said kindly as he took a sip of his own cup. "I am sorry to ask that, but i ask that you be sympathetic to Zuko. You have had years to get used to your circumstance and grow strong. Zuko has yet to have a week," Iron explained to her. "I think he will figure it out, eventually," he admitted.

Katie did not really know how to be sympathetic to people as she always usually had worse circumstances. Especially, living isn’t he capital the children were much more lucky than children living in the districts or other towns. The war took its toll on poor fire nation families as most men were drafted into these. Zuko always had everything given to him, even though his mom was taken. She took a deep breath and nodded. “I will give him some time and not piss him off,” She said.

Iroh nodded. Having served with many of the drafted soldiers himself, he understood their plight. However, what Katie didn't know was that Ozai scarred Zuko when Zuko tried to protect those Fire Nation soldiers from being slaughtered. "That is all I ask," he said. "And I cannot promise that if you annoy Zuko that he might not punish you," Iroh warned as he took a sip of his tea. "He will probably try to enforce discipline," he explained to Katie.

Katie sighed very familiar with how Zuko handled younger people or even his own soldiers. Being a part of the fire nation the girl had been punished several times as it was a very strict country. Her adopted father was very strict after all. “Yes I’m aware. Now, I’m going to bed. Thank you for your advice. I’ll see you tommorow,” She said.
