Reed took a moment to think. "Well...it will take nine months for it to be born, then three years before the power would work. So unless you know father of time, it will take a long time." he told the Joker. Turning the lap top off and letting out a yawn. "Now I need a cup of joe." he said, standing up.

As they sat infront of the fire. She didn't take one sip of her hot coco, she just stare intot he flames. Hearing the crackle and feeling the warmth, was both smoothing and painful. It was painful for her becasue the crackle reminds her of the sound when she brakes someone's bones and the warmth is like blood on her targets is all over her body. She curled up into a ball and layher head on her knees.

The Joker looked disappointed. He'd known it would take a long time, but he hated waiting. He moaned miserably and sat on a chair, drumming his fingers on a nearby desk.

"What should I do until then...?" He moaned, trying to think of a project that would keep him occupied for such a long time.

Ulysses took a few minutes to notice the girl's bad reaction, he was too busy enjoying the pleasant warmth and taste he was having. When he did notice though, the boy seemed concerned.

"Are you alright?" He asked her.

Well...you can always do a puzzle." he said as a joke. For Joker may have free time, but Reed was going to be busy. He had to make sure that the birth goes right and the woman that he put the gene in wouldn't do anything stupid.

She looked at the boy with melancholy eyes. She nods her head, meaning that she was alright and not to worry. She then did something really stupid. she went a little closer to the fire and stick her hand in. But pulled it back in a second. It was hot, and tries for it again.

Ulysses panicked and grabbed her wrist, "What?! Oh my God!You can't do that! You'll get so badly burned!" He was nearly in tears at the sight of her shoving her hand in the fireplace.

Alfred came running intot he room when he heard Ulysses yelled. "What on earth is going on?!" he asked. Then he noitce that the girl's hand was a little red from sticking in the fire from the firstt ime. "My word!" he said. Coming closer them them. The girl looked sad and scared. Seeing the teary look on the boy face, brough ther into tears. "Are you two alright? What did she do?" he asked.

Ulysses shrugged, "I, I don't know! She must have put it in the fire by mistake!"

His voice sounded really distressed, "Are you hurt?" He asked her, trying to act calm so he wouldn't worry her, but he was a bad actor.

The girl was trembling and tears rolled down her cheeks. Alfred quickly walked out of the room, only to return with a cold washcolth. He then wrapped it around her hand. "Just keep thos on for awhile anf the burn will go away." he said. But the girl was still upset, becasue she made Ulysses upset. She nodded her head yed that she was okay, but she was still crying. She looked at him with teay eyes. Loooking like she was deeply sorry and hope that he didn't hate her.

Ulysses gulped and looked at her hand worridly, "I'm sorry I scared you, but I thought you were really, really hurt."

Just as that was happening the Joker had gone out. He took a sneaky route that Batman wouldn't know about, he had thought of a way to amuse himself, at least for a while.

She sniffled and wiped the tears out of her eyes. She was okay, but now she learned the fire was dangerous and it makes Ulysses worry. She put her burnt hand on top of his and looked at him. Looking for forgivness.

Batman was standing on top of a roof of a lab. With the bat-jet right next to him. He looked over the city to see if anything was going on. He had heard that the was a riot at Arkham Asylum. Knowing that during the riot, some had gotten out. He cought most of them, but all he had left was the Joker.

Ulysses could tell she looked scared of him being angry at her, which was unusual.

"I'm not angry at you. I was just worried you were hurt." He explained. He sounded relieved she was alright.

The Joker snuck up upstairs and found the flat he was looking for.

Within an hour Gotham News was reporting, Commisioner Gordon's neice, Debbie Gordon, had been found dead in her apartment with a grotesque grin on her sixteen year old face.

A note in the Joker's insane handwriting was written to Batman.

I have a lot of free time on my hands, so have fun trying to catch me.
