Cafe Crossplay : Matthew Nikki Tobin Book club
: Nikki: Nikki has been working pretty hard as Matthew's assistant in the cafe for a week or so now, but it hasn't been exactly easy. Matthew can be rather demanding for the charming gentleman that he is and Nikki is almost always on his feet doing one thing or another. It's even worse when he messes something up and has to re-do it... and re-do it... and re-do it... until he gets it perfect. : Nikki: His new job certainly had its aggravating moments, but it was worth it, at least for now. Business was rather slow at the moment, however, as the day started to drag on into the later hours and there weren't as many customers coming in. Having done all that he could, Nikki stood around in the kitchen, leaning up against one of the counters, just idly examining his nails, petting his
: Nikki: tail, and whatever else a person does when they're a very bored busybody.
: Matthew: Matthew swatted Nikki's pert little rear which was sticking out with a cutting board he was had just emptied off and was on his way to wash it up. "Don't lean on the kitchen surface areas." Matthew put the board away and did one more glance over the kitchen as he went to tend to the delectable meal he was just about finishing off. He set each plate on the tray and smiled at Nikki . "Alright I think that should just about do it for today. "
: Tobin: Unaware that he was about to ruin those relaxing words, Tobin pushed open the front door, making the little jingly bells on top tinkle loudly. Tugging at his sleeves anxiously, he looked about, wondering if Matthew would be waiting for him in any specific place... When he caught sight of the decorative wall clock, he cringed. An hour and a half wasn't so late, was it? His reading chair
: Tobin: was just so cozy, and that book was so peaceful... Matthew would definitely understand. u.u; probably.
: Nikki: Nikki let out a yelp as his butt got smacked by the man and the kitty-boy hopped forward one or two steps, his hands going back to rub his rear as he shot Matthew a tiny indignant look for the stingy swat. The neko then grumbled out an apology. That look changed the moment that Matthew said those wonderful words that he'd been waiting to hear for a while. "Really?" Nikki said, excitedly, : Nikki: but then he heard the bells ringing that told of a newcomer and Nikki let out a groan. "Ugh. Another customer."
: Matthew: Matthew couldn't suppress a chuckle knowing that many of their waitresses had slipped out by this time. He curiously poked his head out of the kitchen doors and raised an eyebrow. He had the boy pegged at not coming at all; but he did say some time near closing so he supposed that would do. "Alright Nikki you and I are going to have a nice little isn't down." Matthew said as he walked over to the boy to help him removed his pink cupcake fashioned apron. Matthew picked up the covered tray and looked to Nikki. "I would appreciate it if you brought out three drinks... But first perhaps come on out and introduce yourself." Matthew instructed. as he set his hat aside and moved towards the kitchen doors with a tray in hand. : Tobin: That left just enough time for Tobin to look around, becoming a bit more distressed by the second. Was this the right cafe? Were they closed? The one or two waitresses left seemed to be cleaning up, not paying attention to the door... Maybe he was too late. How would he explain that he just fell asleep? D; that seemed so... irresponsable! Taking a few steps into the main room, he
: Tobin: glanced about, anxiously tapping his fingers on a nearby table. "I ... I'm sorry if it's an inconvenience, but does anybody know where M-" He began in an unsure tone, but stopped short, seeing a familiar face, and sighing with relief.
: Nikki: Nikki's pouty demeanor lightened somewhat as he was still going to get his break, but what really changed his mood was that there was going to be someone else there. Curiosity sparked Nikki's interest in a flash and he wondered just who it was that they were going to meet. Nikki beamed up at Matthew and nodded his head as he said, "Sure thing, Sir!" Nikki wiped his hands on his apron,
: Nikki: purely out of habit at this point, and then walked out of the kitchen to meet whoever it was that he was supposed to be introducing himself to - perhaps the person who just came in? When he got out, though, he saw a short-statured elf-looking boy. Nikki blinked a few times and then looked over to Matthew to make sure that this was the person.
: Matthew: Matthew smiled as he walked over and took to a nice little booth like table area that was cleaned and ready. He set the tray down and gestured for the two to come over. He straightened out his white and black Teflon coated chef's coat and looked to Tobin. "I was beginning to think you hadn't made it.. I'm glad to see you here safe and sound." Matthew was just about insinuating that he worried poor Tobin had gotten himself in to a dangerous accident with his particular tone. "This here is Nikki, Nikki this is Tobin. " He introduced the two of them. "I believe Nikki here is the perfect candidate for our little club. In fact I think it could do him some good." He said speaking to Tobin.
: Tobin: Oh... He was the chef! That made perfect sense! That job suited Matthew much better, in Tobin's opinion. "Oh... I'm sorry, I got sort of caught up in things, and I lost track of time. I didn't mean to make you wait around." Clearly, he knew what Matthew was insinuating, as he suddenly looked fidgety all over again. How did he keep doing that? u///u; Holding out a hand for Nikki to : Tobin: shake, he continued their pleasant banter. "It's a pleasure to meet you." The boy displayed his impecable manners again. "Oh, do you like reading?" He brightened up visibly at the news. "Are you a... chef as well?" His eyes darted to the difference in uniform on the two.
: Nikki: Nikki blinked at the mention of a club and that it would do him some good as well. All sorts of things began to race in Nikki's mind, wondering just what sort of 'clubs' Matthew was talking about. Given that this was Kinklynn, that could mean an innumerable amount of things. Still, Nikki wore that wide, confident smile that he was known for and he took Tobin's hand, giving it a shake. : Nikki: "Reading?" Nikki asked, giving Tobin a weird look. Then, he laughed cheerfully as he relaxed, thinking that this must be some sort of book club thing. "I love reading! Honestly, it's hard to imagine why people wouldn't like reading." Nikki's cheeks turned red at the next question, however. "I... well... I'm not a chef, persay... I'm a chef's assistant." Nikki then leaned in towards
: Nikki: Tobin and stage-whispered loud enough so that Matthew could hear, "But that means I do most of the work anyways."
: Matthew: Matthew shook his head and chuckled. "Well you have to do a lot of work if I am apprenticing you; But first you need to learn that doing a job wrong simply isn't right. =w=" Matthew explained and he looked to Tobin. "Can I get you anything to drink?"
: * Tobin brought a sleeve-covered hand to his mouth and giggled behind it at Nikki's antics, and again at Matthew's response. He could tell easy enough that they got along well behind closed doors. "Oh, I suppose if you're getting yourself something, I'd like some tea, but don't trouble yourself if it's just for me." The elfling shrugged. "Nikki... is that short for something?" He asked,
: * Tobin looking curious "I can't imagine it's nicole..."
: * Nikki 's cheeks reddened a little bit more at Matthew's remark and then even more as Tobin, in some form, asked if his name was Nicole. Nikki gave a small pout, but quickly let it fall into an amused smile, not wanting to get off to a bad start with the new boy. "It's short for Nikias, but everyone calls me Nikki. I like it a lot better. Nikias makes me think I'm in trouble or something."
: Matthew: With a small nod Matthew headed away to fetch them some drinks. He brought back iced tea as for himself and Tobin and a nice tall glass of strawberry milk for Nikki. " He brought them back and set them out at the table before shooing to two over. "I think a book club would be a grand way for all these new faces I've been seeing help make new friends. " He offered. : Tobin: "Oh, I see... People in my family call me Tobi, so I kinda know how that goes." He didn't say so, but he imagined Tobin sounded more mature, so he made himself get used to it out in the real world. Scooting off to the table, he sat and took his iced tea, idly stirring it with it's straw. He'd have preffered hot tea, but much like he tended to do, the elf didn't complain. "Have you been
: Tobin: seeing alot of new faces lately?"
: Nikki: Nikki took a seat in the booth and grinned at his strawberry milk, one of the most delicious beverages there were. "Thanks, Matthew! So, Tobi, huh? That's pretty cute. You don't mind if I call you that?" Nikki smiled over at Tobin and then took a big sip from his milk, a happy and content kitten. Nikki looked on over to Matthew as he took a few more sips and when he pulled his mouth away : Nikki: from the straw, he said, "A book club's not a half bad idea, Sir. I'd join one."
: Matthew: Matthew nodded. "Quite a few actually." He assured. "I seems like more and more people are moving out here." He smiled as he dished out each dish. A simple lunch of Panini sandwiches and a berry medley. "In fact I'd say your both pretty new to myself." Matthew offered. "Wouldn't you think Oliver would be a good candidate for a member in our little club Nikki?" He asked gently.
: Tobin: "Well, I suppose I don't mind." Tobin replied, after a moment's consideration. Nodding to Matthew, he replied, "That is strange... I wonder why so many are suddenly popping up all at once? ... Maybe someone is handing out travel brouchures to kinklynn." He giggled at the idea, as he tried to pull back the bread of his sandwich and look inside as discretely as possible. He was generally : Tobin: a slightly picky eater, but when it came to meat, he wouldn't touch the stuff.
: Nikki: Nikki nodded his head and took one of the sandwiches. "Yeah, I'm fairly new to Kinklynn. Barely a month, if even that, really! I love it here, though. It's been a blast and I've had quite a bit of fun already." Nikki took a few bites out of his sandwich, very hungry after a long work day even though he had a lunch break. After he swallowed, he laughed a little bit. "Maybe they are! I
: Nikki: wouldn't be surprised. Or, can you imagine, missionaries in every major city pronouncing the 'glory' of Kinklynn, and all the deviants making their pilgrimage to the 'holy land.'" Nikki rambled on a bit, amused by his own thoughts.
: Matthew: The sandwich contained Japanese eggplants, zucchini, red onion salt, freshly ground black pepper, Basil Pesto, fresh water-packed mozzarella cheese, Sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, basil leaves, baguettes and some sort of creamed cheese based paste. "It's not that different than normal towns." Matthew offered. "Though it seem easy to find one night stands." : Tobin: Tobin seemed pleasantly surprised by what was inside, and for perhaps the first time -ever-, he didn't pick anything out of a meal that he didn't personally make. Taking a bite, he listened to the pair, nodding. Though he wrinkled his nose at the mention of 'one night stands'. "I don't see what's so appealing about that sort of thing anyhow." Mumbled the prudish elfling~
: Nikki: "Now, perhaps this may be my fault since I lack experience, but I don't think there are many 'normal' towns where you can go into a cafe full of crossdressing boys and find that to be a perfectly every-day occurance." Nikki stuck his tongue out at Matthew and then finished off the rest of his sandwich, the ravenous kitten that he was. Nikki quickly finished off his strawberry milk after : Nikki: that.
: Matthew: "Then perhaps you;d like a trip to Japan." Matthew offered. "I'm sure there are some places in America and England thay perhaps do the same." He added as he starte don his own mean anxious to get to it. : Tobin: Tobin always had been a bit of a dainty eater. He took his time, and didn't tend to shovel anything into his mouth, and often left quite a bit on his plate once he got distracted by another thought, and wandered off to do so. "I'd love to visit japan, or england! I hear worrying things about America though.."
: * Tobin is now known as Almond|brb
: Nikki: Nikki beamed brightly at Matthew, "I wouldn't mind taking a trip to Japan! Although, I've heard they're rather crazy there. I wouldn't mind taking a trip to another country, though; it would be a lot of fun." Nikki took his napkin up and cleaned off his hands when he was all done with his food and then he spoke up again, "So, about this book club... What're we all going to do?"
: Matthew: "We will read books discuss them and trade books and suggest titles to each outher meeting sya once a week?" he half asked with agentle smile. "Just a friendly little get togethe rof friends. " : Nikki: "That sounds like it could be fun, just as long as you don't make me write a book report for each week. I'm always so bad with my homework." Nikki said, an amused grin on his face. "But it does sound like it could be nice and relaxing, and a good way to meet new people and get to know them."
: Matthew: "Now why do you think I would give you book work? Do you think I shoudl be a teacher~?" Matthew asked gently. : Nikki: Nikki laughed loudly, "Well, in a way, you already are my teacher! Just... with food stuff. You certainly seem the kind of guy who should be a teacher, though. You've got the personality down. You practically resonate the aura, even!"
: Matthew: "Alright then I should grade you on your prefromace =w=" Matthew concluded. "That way we can see if your passing or failing your culinary studies mister." : Nikki: Nikki's eyes widened in shock at this new announcement and when the realization struck him, Nikki shook his head. "N-no! You can't do that! You can't! This... this isn't a school or something!"
: Matthew: "It is now =w=" Matthew chuckled. "A school for you to be a yong aspiering little chef." Matthew set a hand atop Nikki's head and ruffled his hair.
: Nikki: Nikki pouted at Matthew as his hair was ruffled by the man. "But... you can't..." The neko-jin whined, his tone quickly deflating. He found it hard to be a brat around Matthew unless he was in that sort of mood or if he felt prodded and poked enough.
: Matthew: "Sure I can~ I'll make a grad ebook just for you~ And when you do really well I'll give you a golden star!" He chuckled being playful.
: * Almond|brb is now known as Tobin
: Tobin: "I think you'd make a great teacher." Tobin offered. He'd thought the very thing yesterday in the library, in fact. Giggling at their antics, he mostly stayed quiet as they did a little chatter back and fourth, nibbling on his late lunch. It was really the first time he'd been his usual quiet self around the other since he and Matthew met.
: Nikki: Nikki opened his mouth to say something to Matthew and then quickly closed it, clearly not as amused by this as the man was. Then, Nikki gave Tobin a pouty glare as if to say that the boy wasn't helping this, and then he looked back to Matthew and said, "You're not... serious are you, sir?"
: Matthew: "With the way you keep calling me Sir I may as well be~" He responded. "I think being a teacher would be wounderful. I supposse I could be a private tutor for collage students." he smiled.
: * Tobin lowered those pointed ears a bit at that pouty glare. "He sort of is a teacher already... In a loose sense of the term..." He offered, absent-mindedly poking with his straw at the ice floating in his glass. "I'd hire you if I needed homework help."
: Nikki: Nikki pouted again, but simmered down and finally consented, "Yeah. He is. And if I needed homework help, not that I'd need any, I'd hire him, too. Matthew's kind of awesome." Nikki grinned over at Matthew. "But that's only sometimes, of course."
: Matthew: Matthew laughed shaking his head gently. "How old are you Tobin? Have you been to collage before? Or are you planning on it?" he asked quirking a curious eyebrow. : Tobin: "I'm seventeen." He replied, resting his folded arms on top of the table. "I haven't been yet, but I plan to... hopefully soon, too." Truthfully, he hadn't ever been to any public school, and was decidedly nervous about the whole thing.
: Nikki: Nikki blinked a few times. Then, he blinked a few more times. Then, he blinked even more! It was quite the blinking show. "You're... you're older than me? But... you're like... I'm like almost a foot taller than you!" Nikki said, perhaps a bit insensitively, in an amazed tone.
: Matthew: "Annnnnnd Just how much taller than you am I Nikki?" Matthew asked and gently 'bopped' Nikki's nose with the tip of his index finger. Session Time: Wed Jan ::
: Tobin: This time it was Tobi's turn to pout, and boy did he. Even his lower lip stuck out a bit. He sat up taller in his seat, tempted to pull his legs up and sit on his knees. "Most people tend to respect their elders." He replied, a bit hautily.
: Nikki: Nikki wiggled his nose a bit as it was bopped by the man and he said, rather plainly for added effect, "Well, you're much older than both of us." Nikki then scooted away a few inches and added, "And are much more mature. Plus, you're just a teensy bit weird, but that's why we, or at least I, love you!" Nikki grinned while watching Tobin try to pull himself up a bit. "You're only a year
: Nikki: older than me. That doesn't make you my elder." =w=
: Matthew: I think you look handsome if not adorable just the way you are Tobi~" Matthew said in a good natured tone using the little nick for the boy. "Nikki is a good stirrer... it's the best thing he can do and he just loves stirring up all sorts of trouble. I've seen some other around your height." Matthew offered. "At least you don't have to worry about ceiling fans like me. "
: Tobin: "It makes me one year your elder." Tobin insisted, and this time he did pull his feet up and sit on them, boosting him a little above Nikki's height. And as Matthew complimented him, he suddenly felt more like sinking down under the table, blushing faintly pink. "Oh, well thank you... And I agree. u///u; Nikki is very good at stirring. I can see why he decided to work in a kitchen."
: Nikki: Nikki beamed at Matthew, as if that was a great compliment that he had just been paid. "I can't help it. It's that tiny mischievous kitten inside me. Trouble -is- my middle name after all." Nikki leaned back into the seat, trying to look cool. "Actually, that's a lie. I don't have a middle name. I can agree with Tobi being adorable, though. He is. I very much want to lean over and pinch : Nikki: his cheeks." Nikki leaned in just a bit, making as though he was about to do just that.
: Matthew: Matthew grabbed Nikki's tail and yoinked him away from Tobin and wrapped and arm around Nikki's shoulders and pulled him in with a wicked hgrin and pressed his knuckles to Nikki's head and rubbbed a little tiny bit roughly. "You're not a kitten you're what most of teh world classifys as a brat." Matthew sai dbefore releasing him.
: Tobin: Tobi promptly let out a small worried noise, pushing Nikki's hands away from his face, fully believing his bluff. "Uah, don't!" o n Only to giggle as Matthew pulled him away and teased him so cartoonishly. "I dunno, kittens can sometimes be brats too. Maybe he's both."
: Nikki: Nikki squeaked when his tail was yanked on by Matthew and the man wrapped his arms around him. "N-no! I wasn't going to do it, Matthew! I swear!" Nikki whined out loudly as he was noogied by the older man and then he huffed out with a tone of playful indignation about him, "If I'm a brat, then you are, too!" Nikki whined and wiggled about in Matthew's arms, but he was trying hard not to : Nikki: giggle.
: Matthew: Matthew fake gasped and released Nikki. "No... Not I... I was always the angel~" He laughed and took a sip of tea. "Tobi dear- would you like a rid ehome?" Matthew asked gently.
: Tobin: "Me? I'll have you know, I've never done a bratty thing in my life. Even in the terrible twos, I was calm, and quiet and angelic!" Smirking, he changed his tone. "Oh, you mean Matthew. Yes, I'm sure I've never seen such a brat." n_n The idea seemed to amuse him to no end. "Oh, well I'd love one, if it's not too much trouble..."
: Nikki: Nikki ruffled up and tousled his hair for a few moments to get it back to its normal messiness and not crazed messiness that Matthew had made it. "Oh, sure. Don't offer me a ride at all." Nikki sniffled so dramatically, his ears laying flat and his posture deflating. He was only acting, though, and considering how much he'd been around Matthew recently, the man could probably tell right : Nikki: away.
