At Harley's pronouncement, Lance dropped his handful of nightshirt and caught Harley's arm.

"Stay with me Harley! Read us a story please?"

He wanted his big brother to stay with him for longer, as he had seen that Harley had been sad earlier, and wanted to make sure he was happy. The quickest way to get him to stay in Lance's room was to get him to read a story. Lance was rather proud of his little plan.

The Doctor smoothed down his nightshirt, smirking slightly as he realised what Lance's plan was. The little boy was a lot more devious than both himself and Harley realised sometimes, even though he was so young.

Harley looked down at the boy and smiled some, wrapping an arm around him. "Alright, alright." he answered and then scooped him up, going over and choosing a story to read before settling back down on the bed with the child in his lap. "Nothing too long though, it's late." he told Lance firmly and then opened the book to begin reading, changing his voice for the different characters of the story.

Once he finished it, he looked down at Lance and decided to just stay in his bed with him tonight. "Come on, let's get under these covers." he smiled, laying down and hugging Lance to his chest. "Night. And Night to you, Doc."

The Doctor was unable to stop the smile creeping onto his face as Harley curled up in the bed with Lance cuddled to his chest. They may not be brothers in terms of blood, by they were brothers in every other way, and would always remain so. He moved over to the bed, brushing a hand through their hair as he had done before. Hesitating for a moment, he leaned further over and kissed both of them on the forehead. He stood up, murmuring softly:

"Goodnight my boys."

He smiled as the TARDIS materialised an armchair from the library. Because of his Time Lord biology, he only needed sleep for an hour in every twenty-four, and decided to take that hour of sleep now, then he could watch over the boys afterwards. Folding his long frame into the armchair, he closed his eyes, allowing himself to sleep.

Harley didn't have to make a long decision about whether or not he wanted to cuddle with Lance. He laid down in the bed with him and held him close, telling him goodnight and smiling as The Doctor ran his hands through their hair like he'd always done. "Night Doc." he smiled and then smiled wider as he leaned down and kissed them on the forehead. "Love ya." he said softly before pulling Harley a little bit closer and then rubbing his back gently.

He stayed awake for a little bit and then after a short while, his blue eyes closed and he fell asleep there with the lad in his arms.

The Doctor uncurled himself from his armchair after his hour of sleep, his gaze settling on his boys. He hoped to do a little sight-seeing with them when they woke, something new and outside the TARDIS. While they had not exactly been bored while inside, he felt it was time for a change of scenery, to relax and rid themselves of the lingering tension and anguish they had experienced for the last couple of days.

The Doctor remained in Lance's room for the remainder of the night, keeping watch over his boys. Ordinarily, he would not have stayed for so long, as it was incredibly boring watching humans sleep, however much he loved them. The restless energy that fizzed within him prevented him from sitting still in his armchair, causing him to pace around the room and reorganise the contents of the room repeatedly and silently. At last, he realised that Harley was stirring, and settled in his armchair once more.

Harley eventually stirred after about seven hours of sleep, the man yawning and stretching some but being careful not to wake Lance. He sat up and looked over at the Doctor who was curled up in the armchair. "Morning." he said through a yawn and then grabbed a blanket. "It's freezing." he felt the need to point out before going over and snuggling up with The Doctor on his lap. He was sure he wouldn't push him away.

"Did you stay in here all night?" he asked, laying his head on his chest.

The Doctor grunted slightly as Harley settled himself onto his lap. While he was used to Lance doing this, Harley was a lot heavier. It was lucky the armchair he was sitting in was so very sturdy. He chuckled slightly at Harley's typical complaining, relishing the weight of Harley's head on his chest. He had never really experienced Harley being this affectionate with him before. It seemed that what he had said to the lad yesterday had caused him to relax completely. Placing an arm around Harley, he grumbled good-naturedly, knowing that Harley would understand that he wasn't being serious, it was just his way.

"I did stay here all night, and a very boring night it was too! I don't know how you humans do it, staying still and doing nothing for hours on end, allowing your brains to shut down. It's a wonder you even function when you wake up, your brain must need such a reboot!"

Harley wasn't heavy enough to crush the Doctor or anything, and half his weight was on the arm of the chair anyway since he didn't want to put his full weight on the Doctor. He laid his head on his chest and smiled as the Timelord put an arm around him, he felt warm and comforted in his hold. He chuckled a bit when he went on to mention that last night was boring and he didn't understand how humans could sleep for so long. "Magic." he teased and listened to his two hearts beating. "Our brains don't shut down Doc, they get even more active and that's sort of what leads us on to dream, it's our minds running wild without us being awake to control it."

He snuggled closer. "Why is it so cold in here?"

The Doctor smiled as Harley defended humans sleeping for so long, knowing very well the pull of wonderful dreams. As a Time Lord his dreams could become very intense, a result of the combination of a very short time asleep and many more physic abilities than humans typically had access to. He then frowned, as Harley mentioned how cold it was. His body temperature was a lot cooler than the human body temperature, so he usually took longer to recognise when the temperature was quite low.

Normally, he wouldn't share with anyone that there was anything wrong with the TARDIS, but Harley was old enough to be told thing like that, and he would doubtless prefer to know. Frowning slightly, the Doctor replied to Harley in a tone that was both annoyed and faintly preoccupied.

"The point is that it should not be this cold. The TARDIS is very found of both of ye, and always tries to maintain a comfortable temperature when ye are inside. Ideally I want to land somewhere I know is safe to check the old girl over which is not in the time vortex, and possibly make repairs. So as wonderful as it is having ye here, I need ye to wake up Lance and get him ready for the day. If we land where I plan to, we can get breakfast there."

Harley nodded his head, "Yeah usually it's not so cold." he answered and looked around some, "Maybe she needs an upgrade or something?" he suggested before whimpering some when he told him he needed to wake Lance up, he didn't much want to move because he was warm and he enjoyed the time spent cuddled up with the Doctor because The Doctor was hardly ever affectionate with him.

"Fine..." he answered and got to his feet, shuffling over, "Lance, c'mon buddy, time to get up."
