Default Character Creation Guidelines 2.0

NO magical powers without a damn good reason, expect to be squashed. This is anything from otherworldly foresight to freaky super martial arts.

Special talents, like an aptitude for something, being EXCEEDINGLY good at something or other even, are okay, but there are limits. No six year olds hacking governmental agencies, or preteens with college degrees. The watchword here is ‘reasonable.’ This isn't to say you can't be better than any real world person could be expected to be at something, but don't go overboard with it.

Non spanking fetishes: This is a foster family setting spanking role play. For other interests, there are other venues these days to explore it. Flavor is fine, but the focus is spanking, not rectal thermometers, shots, enemas, diapers, or whatever. While these things might come up, especially the medical ones, they are more part of the story than the focus of it. Others such as crossdressing are allowed if not the main focus and we request you do not take it to obnoxious levels. Above all else check with other players before trying to get them involved in anything that might be outside their comfort zone.

General Wankerness: Please don't do it. Please. Getting in trouble for the same thing over and over will end up with you being banned, or at very least getting put on probation, which involves you not being able to roleplay if Almond or I (Nikki/Ciel) am not here and if you do not ask us first. If your character has a hard time overcoming something, at least show some progress. Swearing problem? Try starting to say the word, and aborting, i.e. “shi-oot. Shoot. I said shoot!” until they slip, but slip less and less frequently. That sort of thing. The truly unrepentant characters that are totally unwilling to show progress will be sent away to a special boarding school, and out of the RP, until such time as those of us that run it are convinced you have changed. This is even harder to do than it sounds.

Not only this, but your character should act roughly their age. A seven year old should talk and act someone roughly around their age. A ten year old shouldn't have ungodly pain tolerance. In fact, just avoid ungodly pain tolerance at all. I know that common sense isn't exactly common, but unless the kids are from a crazy abusive household, they should know to ask for things, what is acceptable and not acceptable, how to address adults, and things along that line. A kid would know to not make a huge mess without making a huge mess.

Also, when making a character, I'd love to heavily stress and impress upon you to give your character room to grow. Stagnating characters gets boring to play with, if it doesn't get boring for you to play with. I like to see when characters grow and develop.

Teens CAN be caregivers as well as charges, but this is not a requirement. See household guidelines and rules for details.

Adult Characters are a bit looser, but not a lot. Kakashi need not apply. Try to keep it within sanity, and make sure your idea is someone a person in their right mind would actually allow near their kids. Patience and firmness are both suggested virtues, but not absolute.

Bios: One thing to keep in mind is you can add to it later. In fact, you will probably have to in order to keep it accurate as you get to know your character. It is bits of data, not a stone tablet, and the first few weeks or months of playing a character can really gel things in your mind concerning background, personality, interests, and everything else.

Additionally, I can be a resource for helping flesh out a notion. Given a starting point, I will launch possibilities at you till one of them suits you or I inspire you to think of your own scenario.

Also, while the Bio is a perfectly fine place to put everything, if one is feeling more secretive, you can send me a PM with additional details that would be found in the file that floats around with every kid in the system. It will be shared with the other adult character players, but it has to stop there. And over the topness is just as deniable there as elsewhere, though I am even more likely to work with someone to tweak possible problems out of the way than I am with basic concepts. If the concept is good, it is worth saving.

Your bio should contain, at the minimum, the following bits of information: age, gender, height, weight, hair and eye color, skin tone, whether the character is a homo sapien or a mimi – specifying the type of mimi if applicable, academic aptitudes and/or placement for kids, field of expertise/role in the household for adults, basic history, and a basic outline of their personality. Helpful, both to you and to other players, and definitely stuff likely to change as the character gets played: Interests, hobbies, pet peeves, goals – long or short term, relationship with any surviving relatives or other non player characters, especially important possessions, and any other little quirks you can think of.

Also, some of you may recall last spring when I tried to keep notes on the chat room and its happenings, back in the wild, woolly days before the bios section was up. I'm going to try to revive that practice, after a fashion. When Mr. Faust has notes or observations about a given resident, I will post those notes as a reply on your bio. These notes won't be for everyday things; these will be for when your character slowly progresses from that bud into a flower. I encourage the players of the other adults to do the same, as it is, among other things, a handy way to track who has gotten in trouble for what before, and simulates the conversations about the kids that would happen between the caregivers of the household.

Look at other bios for ideas of formatting conventions, and if uncertain about anything, please ask. Just remember that it is not a competition for who has the weirdest character, but a cooperative venture between us all. To put it another way, all the freaky plastic surgery in the world, or strange little oddities cannot make up for a poorly thought out character. No worries. That part about cooperation applies here too. This also applies to background stories, too.
