It was late and eighteen year old Crevan knew that he should be sleeping...but he was still trying to study for an exam that he probably didn't actually need to study for. With a genius level IQ he pretty much aced every test that he took but with an anxiety disorder to go along with it he was always worried that he was going to fail. and that was the reason why he pushed himself so hard.

Well that and a desire to prove to his bastard father that he wasn't a failure and could succeed on his own.

That was the driving thought that was going through his head as he poured over the book, the pre-med student flicking one of his fox ears as his fluffy tail swayed from side to side. He was currently wearing just a long t-shirt, which went down to his mid thighs and pretty well obscured his lithe little body. His bright and intelligent blue eyes were focused on the text on the page as his tail swished in time to the ticking clock, which was pretty much the only noise in the room.

Before too long, the silence was broken however, as footsteps entered the room.

"Crevan... What are you doing? You need sleep. Come to bed." Tyler said, worried about the lad he shared his apartment with. And his bed. He was... Very fond of Crevan. "You're overstudying, Crevvy. You'll do great."

Crevan's ears twitched in the direction that the voice was coming from a moment before he shifted his gaze, blue eyes meeting with green ones as he focused his gaze on Tyler. "I'm not...I'll come to bed when I finish this chapter," the smaller fox said as he once again focused his gaze on the textbook that was in front of him. He really was sort of pushing it, and had been for awhile, but his determination to do well was what was fueling him.

"I have to prove I'm not a failure..." he murmured, more to himself than to Tyler though he said it loud enough for the other fox to hear him.

Tyler frowned softly, and walked over. Unceremoniously, he reached in, and closed the book, making Crevan look him in the eyes. "If you ever even think of yourself as a failure, I'll tan your backside. You're beyond a success, Crevan. You're smart, and kind, and wonderful." he scolded him gently.

Crevan was sort of startled by the thunking noise that the book made when it was closed, his blue eyes going to meet with Tyler's green ones again as he was scolded. His ears sort of pinned back slightly in response to this, that look of uncertainty playing out across his expressive eyes. "I didn't mean to upset you but..." But the part that he didn't add was that he had heard that so much growing up that it couldn't really help but stick.

Tyler placed his finger gently to Crevan's lips to shush him. "But nothing." he told him, before silencing him with a soft kiss. "I love you. And you know that I understand where you're coming from. But you're worth more than he ever could have imagined. Forget him, and focus on you. I know I can't stop focusing on you, afterall." he told him, smiling softly.

Crevan blushed a deep red in response to Tyler's words, wondering not for the first time how it was that the other fox always seemed to know what to say to him. "...how do you always know the right words?" he asked as he got up from the chair that he had figuratively been glued to for the past several hours.

"I've been through a lot too, Crev. And I've known you forever, it feels like." he said, and hugged him gently. "I love you. You're going to do fine. I know you will."

"I know," Crevan said softly when Tyler reminded him that he had been through a lot. "Sometimes I marvel at how much better you came out of it than I did." They had been friends practically forever and Crevan felt that on some level he had always loved Tyler, it had just taken him a bit of time to realize that since he was sort of dense when it came to feelings and relationships.

"Hey, I'm screwed in the head too." Tyler chuckled, and rubbed Crevvy's back. "C'mon. Let's go cuddle up in bed. Unless you really want me to take your mind off things." he said, happy to playfully flirt with his love.
