Rafe arched a brow when the man said that it was hard to stay organized in his job, the teen not sure if that was really the case or if this guy just didn't want to put forth the effort. "Maybe you need to develop a little OCD, I bet that would help," the teen said with a smirk appearing on his face.

The young man went on to make it clear that he didn't like being called 'young man' only to have David immediately do it again while at the same time explaining to him why it was that the feds had decided to keep him as a pet rather than shipping his butt off to prison or something. Which he thought was a bit extreme since his hacking hadn't caused any harm, he'd only did it to prove that he could.

And he'd succeeded.

"If I had been the one to do something like that then you wouldn't have caught me," Rafe said in an arrogant tone. "Only reason I was caught was because I was careless...because I wasn't doing anything other than breaking into the site. If theft was really my goal I would have been a lot more careful."

He couldn't resist adding that in his own defense before walking over and taking a look at the notes that David had on the issue. "I'm going to hazard a guess that i don't have a choice and have to do it whether I want to or not," Rafe said quietly, his blue eyes skimming the notes as he spoke at an almost unreal pace.

"Excuses." David said, waving his hand at Rafe's statements, as if brushing aside his words. "It's easy to claim 'could have's, but the result of it was that you were caught, regardless of your reasons." He said this casually, almost coldly. To him, it was a matter that had already been found and dealt with. Rafe telling him this and that wasn't going to change what had happened or his situation. Perhaps he knew how cold he was coming off as, perhaps not.

David never was exactly a people person.
But that was a matter for another time.

"You don't have to do it." David said, still keeping that same tone in his voice. "You do have to work here to pay off your crimes, but if you don't think you can handle it, you don't have to. It's just the biggest priority we have. If you'd rather, we can have you look through the coding of several important websites and see if there is any holes we need to patch up in those, we can have you do some research on some old cases and see if you can come up with an answer for those, or...something. I'm sure we can find something for you. "
