Alan hanged his head with a deep sigh issuing forth from his lungs. He was truly in a bind. He couldn't give away free aid, he simply couldn't, not at this level of the healing arts. It would ruin him and the guild would have his head for starting a dangerous trend. "What...what sort of skills does the girl posses?" He asked, sounding horribly dissapointed with the whole situation.

The woman closed her eyes for a few seconds, taking a deep breath. "Well... She is a amazing cook, and she is good with cleaning" She told him. "She really is a good little girl, sir, and she is a quick learner, what ever you want her to do I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem"

Alan shook his head slowly. He had to admit that it would be nice to have some more help on the trail, and the wagon was always dusty with him and his apprentice constantly deep in study, the cooking would free up more time for them as well. "I... can't promise you that i'llalways be gentle with her. She wont be made a harlot or anything of the sort, but I have minimal tolerance for misbehavior." He said rather plainly, when the differnece between a deadly poison and a cough supressent was a matter of dose and timing perfectionism became a trait whether you wished it to or not.

The woman nodded, she had expected this. "Do you mind... Do you mind being a little more specific?" She asked, looking at the man.

Susan hadn't moved since they got there. She was still sitting curled up in the chair, looking down and listening to what the two was talking about.

Alan glanced across to Susan, takeing a deep breath and slowly turning in his seat to face her. Reaching out he pulled her chin up, wanting her to be included. He'd give her to option to argue with her mother of course, he couldn't take her away without so much as a word of concent.

"She'll be expected to perform her tasks well, she will be punished if she fails to keep their standards up. Are you used to being spanked darling? Is that how your parents run the home?" He said to the mother and asked the daughter. He had a feeling she would involve herself unless she was forced to.

The woman sighed in relief at this. He was planing on spanking her, not beating her. This was defiantly good news.

"Yes sir" the girl whispered as she was forced to look at him and blushed heavily. He was right, she wouldn't involve herself unless she had to.

Alan sighs softly, tenting his fingers and touching the tips to his lips. This was a large decision, but it truly wasn't. He had to be payed and they had only one form of payment that would be sufficiant for the services being renderd. "Very well, the girl is acceptable." He said, neutraly as it was quite difficult to sound enthused."

Slowly his eyes flitttedback to the mother, quickly takeing in her reaction before diverting back to the girl. "I'll release her from her contract in ten years time, and see to it that she has enough to see her safely back. Though I may add time to that if she proves to be difficult." He said quite heavily, he wasn't going to keep her forever of course. And he could always make the trip back here and hire her on if he grew acustomed to her presence.

Sarah just stood there, but couldn't hold back anymore: "You approve?!", she asked stunned. "Alan, are you sure you can...afford two of us?", she wanted to know. She rarely called him Alan, she was just upset and afraid that he would drop her off in the next town because of the girl.

The woman only nodded, relived that he accepted her, but in the same time so sad about loosing her girl. It was the only way though.

Turning his head sharply he gazed at Sarah in astonishment. He'd been so involved he hadn't even noticed her listening in. Twisting in his seat he fixed her with an uncertain gaze, it felt as though the money wasn't her true concern but he couldn't place the genuine source. "I'm certain, and the more time we have away from mundane chores the more you and I can acomplish....for instance, you could use to time to explain why you're not with your patient." He said finely, looking her over in obviouse disaproval.
