Martin whined tearfully when he was moved and buried his face in his patron’s shoulder as he tried to stop crying. Once he calmed down he would feel embarrassed by clinging to Ida like this, but right now he needed the comfort. “That hurt…”

“Ida…” Martin whined, embarrassed as he wiped away his tears, “No, I won’t, but do you have to call me that? I’m not a pup anymore.” At least, he wanted to believe that.

"Now then. It's off to bed, you need sleep." Her tone was gentle though not to be argued with.

Ida pulled back the covers so that the younger wolf could shuffle inside, and then folded them back over him, the blanket patted a couple times to ensure Martin was nice and tucked in.

She offered a light smile at him afterwards and sat by his side a moment as she whispered, "Goodnight," before shutting out the light and letting her son get some well-needed rest. It had been an exhausting night for them all.
