John bit his lip and sighed when his friend mentioned being at the top of the class. "Thanks..." he sighed sarcastically but then quickly nodded, "Yep! Second top!" he answered, but it was pretty obvious he was lying.

Charles frowned and helped John to his feet before looking at his son, "Are you lying, Canton?"

"No, of course I'm not," Canton said, giving another lie easily, though he did feel a little guilty doing it.

Christian sighed, "Let's get you to the med centre," he said, leading John away, "Now, John, did you just lie to me?" he asked in a calm, measured voice that didn't betray anything.

Charles frowned and looked his son dead in the eyes. "Son, tell me now, and you wont be in any trouble." he said firmly.

John nodded his head at the suggestion of going to the med bay and when asked if he lied, he decided to just say nothing.

"I told you, I'm not lying," Canton persisted, the little feeling of guilt growing a little larger.

Christian sighed, "Fine, we'll talk after you've been checked up," he said, leading him to the med bay.

"Alright son, but if I find out you have, it'll be over my knee that you go." Charles answered, wrapping an arm around him.

John nodded his head and sat down on the medical table. "It doesn't hurt that much Dad...." he explained softly.

Canton gulped and gave his dad a somewhat timid smile, "Well, I've got nothing to worry about then," he murmured.

"I still want you checked over. That was some shock you had. Had you even handled that type of gun before?" Christian asked, eyebrows raised.

"Yeah." Charles answered and frowned a little at the gulp but shrugged it off.

"Not that type of gun..." John answered, when it was any gun really, he didn't have much experience with them even if he said he had.

"So, what no then, dad?" Canton asked, hoping to divert his dad from the situation.

"Oh, I see," Christian murmured. Once the nurse had checked him over and given him the all clear, he gripped his son by the upper arm and led him to their quarters, "Now, I ask you again: did you lie to me?"

"Hm, we'll go and make sure that John is alright." Charles answered and followed Christian, listening when he asked if John had lied.

John looked up at him and then nodded his head, "Y-Yes....I lied about having experience....and about being top of the class...." he answered sadly.

"And that means you also lied." Charles said, turning to face his son.

Christian sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "And why, pray, did you do that?" he asked, sounding disappointed.

Canton sighed, wishing he could pull his dad the other way, but he was concerned for his friend. He did get electrocuted, after all. Colour rushed to his face as he felt his dad's eyes on him. He stared down at his feet, his cheeks glowing, "Yes," he mumbled.
