Liam couldn't tell that his dad wasn't quite as irate as he might have been when he got home, since to the kid Ian sounded plenty pissed off. He of course didn't want to further piss the man off so when he was ordered into the kitchen he was quick to obey though he hovered near the doorway since he didn't want to walk over to his dad. Apparently that was a mistake though and his eyes flicked up to Ian's irritated face when the man added the 'over. here.' order and he of course picked up on the emphasis in those two words that made it a very clear order and he was quick to obey, walking over to the spot that his father had pointed to and stopping again. He was staring at the floor at that point, listening to Ian but when the man told him he was starting school tomorrow his eyes shot up to him again and the child gaped a little before getting control of himself and nodding at the bit at the end, paling a little since he really did know what 'or else' meant and he didn't want to try his dad on that one. "Yes, sir." he said simply, acknowledging the order and the fact that he was going to start school tomorrow morning. He didnt' say anything further unless he was prompted to and just stood there silently as Ian got the rest of his things in order and left, and once the man was gone he waited another ten minutes to see if he was going to come back and then relaxed and headed into his bedroom. He sat on the bed and thought about his situation and was actually happy that he was going to school since that meant more time away from Ian and he might be able to escape into his room at night and claim he was studying or working on homework since he thought Ian might buy that and leave him alone. "You guys here right now?" he asked softly, sort of on a whim since he was wondering if either of his guardian angels were here but when he didnt' get an answer he decided he was going to go for a walk. Which was a bad decision on his part since he just made it into the town when he was yanked into an alley and faced with very angry teenagers who had gone past the store and seen a repairman already measuring the broken window. He lied and told them that the alarm scared him off before he could get the money from the register, and they didn't really like that. He ended up getting another beating at their hands but since they didn't want him dead they were actually not hitting him all that hard, but that didn't really make him feel better in the moment. When they finally stopped he staggered away to a local park that he and Crevan used to hide at when they were injured by their dads and he sank down to the ground under the relative safety of the jungle gym, where there was a plastic cube meant to play house in but they'd used it as a temporary shelter when they needed it. He was breathing heavily from the pain and the exertion of coming out here and he was pretty sure he had a few cracked ribs but aside from those he was just sporting bruises. It was the ones on his face he was most worried about, since he knew Ian would see those and he doubted he would be happy about it when Liam was supposed to start school the next day and that sort of terrified him since he didn't know what his dad would do to him when he went home, so he was thinking he wasn't going to until just before he had to head to school so Ian would have to wait to beat on him until he got home. He didn't even think of Kai or think to go there and see if the man could help him, since he wasn't used to having someone he could rely on like that.

Ian was used to obedience from his son so when the boy came into the kitchen and stopped just inside the door it irritated him since he felt that the boy should have known that he meant for him to come all the way over to him. He didn't lose his temper for once, though he was as usual irked that he had to repeat an order, so he put emphasis on each word when he ordered Liam over to him and it was really a good thing that the kid got the hint and came over to him since he wouldn't have been at all pleased if he'd had to grab the kid and pull him over and that likely would have earned him a few smacks at the least. Once Liam was standing in front of him Ian told him that he was going to be starting public school the following day and he only waited long enough for the kid to acknowledge what he'd said before deciding that he needed to leave to meet his clients. "I'll be home late tonight, you're on your own for dinner," he told his kid before setting his coffee cup down on the counter and leaving the kitchen. Ian made his way to the den where he grabbed the suit coat he'd left there before he grabbed the keys to his car and then left.
Malakai wasn't following the boy when he went home though he left the house where he and Crevan were going to be staying not long after Liam did since he had a bad feeling. He ordered Crevan to stay there even though he could tell that the angel child wanted to accompany him. The angel didn't get to the house before Liam left so that meant that he had to go in search of the kid but luckily he had a sort of homing beacon to follow so that made it easier. When he came upon the jungle gym he was a little surprised by this however when he actually found Liam it all made sense. Sighing softly he gently gathered the child up into his arms, holding him carefully so that he didn't hurt him. "Poor child," he murmured as he cradled the injured boy against his chest, able to tell from the way that he was breathing if nothing else that the little boy's ribs were injured. "I'll help you," he said quietly before taking the boy back to the house where he was staying, using his supernatural abilities so it would seem nearly instantaneous to the child. Once he had Liam back there he gently placed the boy on the bed and then placed a hand over the spot where his broken ribs were, a warming sensation radiating from that spot outward.

Liam was actually sort of surprised that Ian didn't smack him when he walked over to the man, since he was well aware of the fact that his dad hated when he forced the man to repeat himself so he had been expecting at least a backhand for it or something. He was relieved when that didn't happen of course and just listened as his dad told him the 'news' and he acknowledge it before nodding when Ian added that he was on his own for dinner, "Yes sir" He said again, since he knew that nodding wasn't a good enough answer on its own either. After that he just waited for the man to leave and washed his coffee cup just in case he returned home later and thought that was something Liam should have done. Then he went to sit in his room for a while before getting bored and going for a walk. Which he was soon made to regret as he was jumped by his new gang 'brothers' and had to creep off to the park to lick his wounds. He was sort of out of it from the pain at that point since hew as injured more than just his ribs, they were just the only part that was seriously injured so he was a bit disoriented when Kai arrived not too long after he got there before calling him a poor child and cradling him in his arms, "Kai?" he asked blearily, showing he at least knew who was holding him and then he actually leaned against the mans chest and nodded slightly when he was told that Kai would help him. He was breathing a bit shallowly at that point since breathing harder hurt and he really wanted to sleep which probably meant he had a mild concussion. He whimpered when he was placed on the bed when they got back to Kai's apartment, the child a bit confused how that happened so fast but he figured he must have passed out or something and forgot about it. He looked over at the man as Kai put a hand over his ribs and he felt the warming sensation but it didnt' hurt so he didn't try to move away from the touch he just lay there as Kai healed him and breathed a sigh of relief when the man was done since his ribs didn't hut anymore. "My head hurts" he complained then, since he had a splitting headache which must have really been hurting to get him to complain about it but he looked over at Kai trustingly anyway as he fully expected the angel to help him with that too, even if it was as simple as getting him some aspirin or something.

Even though he wasn't technically allowed to interfere Malakai was going to be kicking himself for allowing this to happen to Liam later, once he had a little time to sit down and process the situation for what it was. For the moment all he was focused on was helping the child so after finding Liam at the playground he gently scooped the child up into his arms, calling him a poor child and looking down at the boy as Liam used that nickname that Crevan had given to him. "Malakai," he corrected though his tone was gentle none the less since there was no way that he was going to be harsh with an obviously injured child. He was a bit surprised that Liam leaned against his chest the way that he did but he was chalking that up to the little guy being injured so he didn't question it. Instead he used his supernatural speed to get the two of them back to the house where he was going to be staying for awhile and once there he placed Liam gently on the bed. His gaze briefly swept over the boy and the he placed a hand over the spot where he had cracked ribs, a warming sensation radiating from his hand as he healed the wounds. He looked to Liam's face when the child complained that his head hurt and seeing the bruises on the little guy's face he knew that he had to do something about that as well. It wasn't as though he could get into further trouble seeing as he had already interfered but he felt that he had a good reason for doing so. Moving his head he placed it gently on the top of the child's head, healing both the concussion as well as the bruising though this was a bit draining so he wasn't able to fully heal the child, he could only take care of the worst of it. "How's that?" he asked softly once he'd taken care of that for the little boy, knowing that he was likely still sore but that should have taken care of the worst of his pain at any rate. Malakai had taken care of any injuries that could prove dangerous for the child, leaving only the minor ones that would cause pain but weren't really anything to be concerned about. He was a bit surprised that Crevan hadn't joined them but he'd left the little boy upstairs occupied with a bit of studying and had taken Liam to the downstairs bedroom that he was planning on using so he was guessing that the angel child just hadn't heard them or else he would probably have came to see what was going on.

Liam heard Malakai correcting him but he didn't really react to it, he just leaned against the mans chest since he actually did trust Malakai not to hurt hi and he was currently in a lot of pain and had a mild concussion so he was more likely to accept what gentleness he could from wherever he could get it. When he felt better he might be more wary of Kai but right now the angel was a welcome sight. He whimpered when he was set down on the bed but aside from that he didnt' protest as Malakai healed him. He was breathing a lot easier when Malakai was done and he relaxed as he complained about his head hurting him and he actually didn't tense up again when Kai touched his head, he just laid there and waited as Kai healed the concussion and the bruises from his face. He felt a lot better at that point, not caring about the bruises to his body that he could still feel aching since they were a mild thing for him compared to the pains that Kai took away. When Kai asked him how it was he actually gave him a small smile, "Lot better now...thanks" He said, a little confused about why Kai had gone through all that effort but he appreciated it. He pushed himself up to a sitting position and sort of shifted uncomfortably now that he was more coherent and alone with Kai it felt a bit awkward to him. "Where's Crevan?" he asked then, thinking that if his friend was here then the boy could serve as a sort of buffer between him and Kai and he was a little bit embarrassed that he'd needed Kai's help to begin with at this point but he didn't say anything about that he just asked about Crevan and wondered why his friend hadn't come to see what was up.

Malakai knew that he was going to have some explaining to do about this one but he was trying his best not to think about that right now and it really wasn't a factor in his choice. He knew that he had to help the boy even if he wasn't supposed to interfere. So he carried the little boy back to his house and then healed the more serious wounds that Liam had suffered though he didn't take away all of the pain. Once he had finished healing Liam he asked the child how he was feeling and he smiled when the little boy told him that he felt better now and then went on to think him and that caused the small smile on the guardian angel's face to grow a bit wider. "You're welcome child." He noticed that the little boy seemed confused but since Liam didn't ask him anything he wasn't sure what was causing that confusion so he couldn't really address that. He watched as Liam pushed himself to a sitting position but since there didn't seem to be any adverse effects he didn't try to get the child to lay back down. When Liam asked where Crevan was Malakai looked up and replied, "I left him up in his room studying." He thought that maybe Liam wanted his friend there so after a moment he called out, "Crevan, can you come here?" He had been careful to be quiet when he brought Liam back so that Crevan wouldn't see his friend in that shape but now that he'd healed the child he didn't think that it was a problem now. A few minutes passed and Crevan entered the room, the angel child sort of confused when he saw Liam in bed but he walked over and climbed up to sit beside him. "Something happen?" he asked with a look of concern in his blue eyes.

Liam was just confused about Kai because he wasn't used to people going out of their way to do something nice for him, so he didn't really understand why Kai would but he did appreciate it and he knew that Kai hadn't had to do it so he offered up a word of thanks after Kai finished healing him. He was a bit surprised by the way Kai's smile grew wider in response to that one and the man genuinely looked happy that he'd thanked him, which was sort of weird to Liam but again he chose not to say anything about it and asked about Crevan instead. He looked over at his friend when the younger boy came into the room, mildly curious what Crevan had been studying but he didn't ask he just shook his head when Crevan asked if something happened. "Not a big deal, guess what? Ian's sending me to public school, starting tomorrow" he said, actually sounding happy about it since he was seeing public school as a chance for him to get awya from Ian and perhaps as a way to avoid getting his ass beat when he was forced to stay home since he could retreat to his room to do homework or something and hope that Ian would leave him alone. Of course he could also end up getting into trouble and getting his ass beat for 'embarrassing' his father by misbehaving at school or getting a bad grade, but he wasn't thinking of the negatives right now he was just happy about the fact that he had a bona-fide reason to avoid his dad for a good seven to nine hours a day depending on how long he could claim to be doing homework. He waited then to see what Crevan was going to say, sort of forgetting that Kai was there at this point since the man wasn't really imposing so Liam tended to forget he was there until he talked or moved.

Crevan hadn't really been expecting for Liam to come back so soon after leaving so when Malakai called for him to come downstairs and he realized that his friend was there once again the little boy was both confused as well as concerned since he was afraid that something had happened. Luckily Malakai had healed all of the visible bruising from the 'fight' with the gang members so to Crevan he looked more or less okay so the child didn't have to worry too much about him. Even so Crevan asked if something had happened since it was a bit weird that Liam was there and in bed though when the other boy said that it wasn't anything that was a big deal before going on to say that Ian was going to send him to public school Crevan offered him a smile. "That's great, means you can get away from him even when he doesn't have clients," the little guy said, glad that his friend was going to have a way to escape his father. Crevan hadn't really had the same luxury since Keegan had tended to drag him along to work with him but the boy knew that Ian at least didn't do that but it was probably more because he couldn't really given his job. "You might make some new friends," Crevan added, knowing that Liam didn't really have any aside from him and while it sort of hurt him to think about the other boy 'replacing' him Crevan genuinely hoped that Liam would make new friends so that he'd have someone to talk to. Malakai stood by and watched the two of them, not hinting at the fact that he'd already known that Liam was going to be going to public school nor that he'd sort of 'helped' that one along. Not directly but with a bit of hinting and persuasion since his powers allowed him to do that even without revealing himself to the mortals. He wasn't going to tell Liam about that however since he didn't think that the boy needed to know.

Liam didn't want Crevan worrying about him and about what happened to him so that was why he played it off as no big deal before quickly changing the topic to him going to school, which he really was excited about and he smiled when Crevan told him that it was great and he nodded at what the other boy had to say. "Yeah that's what I was thinking. Even better is he's not gonna be home till late so I dont have to worry 'bout him tonight either 'cause I'll be in bed by the time he gets back most likely." he said, though there had been a few rare times that hsi dad had woken him up to beat on him for something but he didn't think that would be the case today when the man was clearly distracted by whatever work he had to do that suddenly made him not have enough time to homeschool Liam. When Crevan added that he could make more friends the child sort of shrugged at that one and got a guarded look in his eyes, "Dont want new friends. they wont understand and I dont wanna explain it to them when I suddenly cant sit still or something" he said, referring to when his dad beat him but it could also be taken as Kai spanking him and making him squirm during school but he wasn't really thinking that when he said it. He of course had no idea that Kai had encouraged Ian to sign him up for school or he probably would have been happy about that one and might have thanked kai again. "What were you studying?" He asked then, almost as an afterthought and he shifted to get into a more comfortable position and ended up wincing as his bruised body protested but he barely seemed to notice since he was used to being bruised, they were just usually located on his back.

Crevan could tell that Liam was happy about starting public school and he was happy for his friend and showed that by saying that he was glad and pointing out that it would give Liam an escape from his dad. He also added that Liam could maybe make new friends though he couldn't help but notice the guarded look that appeared in the other boy's eyes as Liam said that he didn't want new friends because they wouldn't understand and the other stuff. "They don't have to understand to be your friend Liam," Crevan said quietly even though he honestly didn't know if that was the case because he'd never had another friend aside from Liam so this was purely speculation on his part. He did know that it wouldn't be easy to explain to others why he couldn't sit still but Crevan had the thought that Ian might go easier on Liam now that he wouldn't have to see him as much plus there was the fact that he wouldn't want anyone to know that he beat his son. That hadn't worked in Crevan's case because his dad had just convinced everyone that he caused his own accidents and hurt himself for attention but Ian didn't do that with his own son so Crevan could be hopeful on his behalf. When the topic shifted to what he was studying Crevan just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I was just reading some boring stuff that Kai told me to study." Malakai looked over at his young charge and said, "I've told you not to call me that Crevan." He was scolding his young charge since he had repeatedly told Crevan not to use the nickname but he didn't go farther than that with it. Crevan looked sort of sheepish for a minute but then he noticed that his friend was wincing and he asked, "Are you hurt?" Reaching out he placed a hand on his friend and it had the same warm feeling that Malakai's did though with Crevan it was weaker since he hadn't figured out how to use his powers and they weren't nearly as strong as Malakai's since he wasn't a full fledged guardian angel by any stretch of the imagination.
