Liam really would not have reacted at all well to hearing that Malakai was his friends guardian angel if Crevan told him that right now, and it really wouldn't not have given him any confidence that the weird looking guy could help him at all even if he had wanted that help, which he didn't. So it was probably best that Crevan didn't say anything to him about that and instead just went on to tell him why he'd killed himself and when he heard the story he hugged his friend and said he dnd't blame him, and he really didn't, he could forgive Crevan for doing it now that he knew what the younger boy had gone through and it made him want to hurt Keegan the way Keegan had hurt Crevan but he knew he was too small and doing so would just make him a target since his dad wouldn't care if Keegan beat him bloody over something like that. He attempted to make an excuse for their fathers behavior, like all abused children he wanted to try and justify what had happened and he got a bit teary when Crevan told him that nothing he did caused it but he didn't believe it, he just wasn't in a place where he could. He was distracted from his thoughts when Malakai walked over and spoke to them and when he heard the 'we'll discuss it later' and saw Crevan's reaction he frowned, "What the fuck is that supposed to mean? You better not hurt him!" he said, getting defensive since in his and Crevan's world words like that usually meant a beating or something equally painful. When the man went on to tell him that they were there to make sure he didn't travel the wrong bath he scowled, "Well you can just go then 'cause I dont need anyone telling me how to live my life and I'm not gonna listen to you." He snapped, aiming the words just at Malakai not at Crevan, and in the process he sort of accepted that Malakai really was his guardian angel since he was saying that he wasn't going ot listen to his guidance. This still felt a bit unreal to him but thanks to his young age it was a little easier for him to accept it than it might have otherwise been.

Crevan couldn't help but feel that he was failing abysmally at this whole guardian angel thing and even though he was not by all technical standpoints Liam's guardian angel he still felt a responsibility to his friend and he desperately wanted to help him right now. So after he tried to justify what he'd done, and feeling as though he failed in that as well, the child went on to try and convince Liam that he hadn't done anything to deserve the treatment that he suffered at the hands of his father. Not that he'd had any illusions that Liam was going to believe him in that regard because he'd been there and had always thought that it was something he'd done that caused his father to treat him that way. Crevan was trying to figure out what else he could say to his friend when Malakai saved him from having to by walking over and informing him that they were going to discuss what had happened later and that sort of made him nervous since he'd been in Malakai's care long enough to know what kind of discussion that was likely to be. HOwever although it had freaked him out at first he now knew that the angel wouldn't genuinely hurt him so he wasn't really scared, just nervous. His blue eyes shifted to Liam when the other boy stood up for him and he opened his mouth to tell his friend that it was okay but he wasn't given the opportunity.

Malakai had never expected that Liam would believe what he was saying or just willingly accept the help that he was offering, things like that just didn't happen. He was a little surprised when he was ordered not to hurt Crevan by the little punk kid and that would have upset him if he didn't have such a tight rein on his emotions right now since he really did have a soft spot for the little angel boy that he'd failed to save. "Crevan, I think it's time for you to go home now," he said in a firm tone as he gazed at the boy, seeing the way that he opened his mouth to protest and frowning. "Now," he added and was pleased when Crevan nodded before the little boy turned to Liam. "I've gotta go but I'll be back," Crevan told his friend, giving the bigger boy a tight hug before he turned and seemed to vanish. Malakai waited until he was sure that his apprentice was gone since he didn't want to traumatize the boy by having him be around for what he figured was going to be the end result of this conversation. "Now," he said as he turned back to Liam. "You and I have a few things that we need to talk abut." His voice was just as firm with Liam as it had been with Crevan, that just being the tone he'd learned to take with children to get their attention, and after he said that he paused to see what the boy would have to say in reply.

Liam would calm down eventually and he would be happy that Crevan was here and that he was able to speak to the other boy again, it was just a huge shock for him right now that was why he was reacting so badly, so ti really wasn't Crevan doing a bad job that was the problem it was just the whole situation. He was already sort of processing it, even if he was also a bit shocked still he was dealing with it so when Malakai came over and told him he was here to help the child reverted back to his usual attitude. He basically told Malakai he could go fuck himself and he would have been happy if the man got angry and left but that wasn't what happened. Instead Malakai told Crevan to go, adding a 'now' when his friend tried to protest and Liam shook his head when Crevan told him he had to go. "No, stay here" He pleaded as Crevan gave him the tight hug, the child holding onto his friend hard as if he let Crevan go then the other boy would never come back and this would all be some crazy dream brought on from a head injury or something. Eventually Crevan obeyed his mentor though and Liam found himself alone with Malakai, the child standing and backing away from the angel when he spoke in that firm tone that he'd used with Crevan and it did get his attention, just not in a good way since it made him wary of the man. He scowled when he heard what Malakai had to say and shook his head, "No we dont." He snapped before turning and bolting away from the man, intending on running back to the place he was supposed to meet the Warriors, he was already late and didn't want to be later and piss them off. Plus, he wanted to get away from Malakai and actually thought that he could since he didn't realize the angel could probably move way faster than him and that the man could sense him no matter where he went so the cover of night that he was counting on to hide him really wasn't going to be that helpful.

Crevan wasn't any happier than Liam when Malakai told him to leave but he'd spent the last year in the angel's care so it had sort of become natural for him to obey the man when he spoke, at least when he was using that firm tone of voice with him. So when Malakai got stern and added the now Crevan moved to hug his friend, telling Liam goodbye and that he would be back later. Of course when Liam clung to him and told him to stay that was nearly enough to bring the small angel boy to tears and he looked back at Malakai in that instance and said quietly, "Please don't make me go Kai." Of course Malakai was already a bit frustrated with the way that things were going so when Crevan decided to once again try to avoid doing as he was told the angel narrowed his eyes a bit and said, "You're already in trouble, it would be wise not to make it worse. And I have told you before about that nickname, I do not like it. Now, do as you were told Crevan." The little boy didn't want to leave his friend but in the end he couldn't obey his mentor so when Malakai made it clear that it was non-negotiable the little boy turned back to Liam, whom he was still holding in a hug, and whispered, "I gotta go." He looked so much like a much younger child as he turned and took a few steps from his friend before vanishing, a forlorn look in his blue eyes. Malakai actually felt bad for the child but he didn't want Crevan around for this part of the confrontation so he reminded himself that it was necessary. Once the angel boy was gone he turned back to Liam and was not the least bit surprised with what the kid had to say, short and to the point as it was. "I am not taking no for an answer on this," Malakai said in a quiet and yet at the same time forceful tone of voice, the angel realizing that the kid was on the verge of running. Not something that he was going to allow to happen so before Liam really got the chance to go anywhere he used his supernatural speed to more or less appear behind the boy, reaching out and grasping him by the upper arm before he had the chance to register what was happening. "So, to the point; what you did tonight was reckless, dangerous and definitely not something that an eleven year old child should be doing," he lectured the boy that he was holding in his grasp, trying to think of the way to best convey the gravity of the situation to this little juvenile delinquent.

Liam couldn't help but ask Crevan to stay with him when he heard that the younger boy had to go, but if he'd paused to think about how that might hurt Crevan's feelings he probably wouldnt' have done it, he'd always been the stronger of the two and he tried to shelter Crevan as much as he could since he knew that Crevan's home life was a lot worse than his. He looked up at the guardian angel when Crevan pleaded to be allowed to stay and when Malakai glared at Crevan and sent him away again Liam got angry "Why're you such an ass hole?" He asked, his eyes flashing as he looked back at his friend when he said he had to go and nodding as he reluctantly let go of Crevan since he didn't want to get the kid in worse trouble when apparently he was alredy in trouble. Then he was alone with Malakai and the man said they had to talk and he said they didn't and rolled his eyes when Malakai said he wasn't taking no for an answer. "Tough luck for you then cause you don't have a choice" He snapped before bolting, thinking his dark clothes and the dark graveyard would let him get away and he was started when he felt Malakai's firm hand clamp onto his arm only a few seconds after he ran and he yelped even though it didn't hurt. He glared up at the angel when Malakai lectured him and rolled his eyes again when he heard what the angel had to say, "Whatever. Let go of me you bastard!" he shouted, starting to fight for all he was worth and trying to kick Malakai hard in the leg to distract him enough to loosen his grip so Liam coudl slip away. Why the child thought that would actually work he had no idea it just seemed like a good idea to him at the time.

Malakai watched his little charge reluctantly follow his orders to leave, knowing that this was hard for Crevan but he was just trying to shelter him from what he knew was going to be an unpleasant exchange between himself and Liam considering the attitude that he was showing. He'd been trying his best to keep from Crevan just how far down the wrong path his best friend had already traveled. That was the main reason why he sent the child away and he didn't address Liam until Creavn was gone. Of course the boy wasn't happy with this turn of events and Malakai frowned when Liam asked why he was an asshole. "Oh, so you wanted him to see what a little delinquent you've turned into? He already feels guilty for leaving you, how do you think that would effect him?" Malakai said in a calm tone of voice, sort of challenging the boy on exactly which of them was the asshole though of course he didn't say that. It became pretty evident that this child wasn't going to be receptive to what he had to say but that wasn't a surprise nor was Liam's attempt to run after the little brat told him that he didn't have a choice other than to take no for an answer. Shaking his head at the kid's audacity Malakai moved to grab the boy before he could run off and the kicks that the kid aimed at him even as he shouted out obscenities just got the angel to roll his eyes seeing as they were merely an annoyance. "You cannot harm me child so I would advise saving your energy," Malakai told him before sighing a bit and picking the boy up, holding him under one arm and delivering a firm smack to his backside that was meant to get his attention. "This is a wake up call," he told the boy in a firm tone of voice, holding him firmly and waiting for the explosion that he was expecting in response to this.

Liam contented himself with Crevan's promise that he would be back and let his friend go after Malakai scolded him, since the child didn't want his friend in trouble and Crevan had never not done something he said he was going to so there was that reassurance as well. Soon enough he was alone with Malakai and he asked him why he was an asshole and was actually hurt by what Malakai said, a sort of stricken look on his face at that for a few seconds before he was able to push it away and feign indifference. "I'm not a delinquent, you dont know anything about me so back the fuck off!" he shouted, ignoring the comment about Crevan since he did't have a comeback for that one he just went on to tell Malakai he had no choice before running off and promptly being caught again. That startled him of course since he didn't think Kai should be that fast but then he started fighting hard and he ignored Malakai when the man told him to save his energy. "Fuck you!" he yelled and continued to struggle but then the angel grabbed him and Liam was beyond shocked to find himself tucked under one arm and smacked on the rear hard enough to get a yelp out of the little guy since Malakai was easily strong enough to make that sting even through his clothes. He actually went still for a few seconds as he process what the man had just done to him but then Malakai told him it was a wake up call and he got pissed all over again and started struggling. "Go to hell! Let go of me you mother fucker!" He screamed as he struggled hard, hitting whatever he could reach of Malakai's back as he kicked and thrashed around in an attempt to get away even though it hadn't worked before he was a stubborn child so he was going to try.

Malakai was watching Liam closely as he scolded the little boy for calling him an asshole because he ordered Crevan away so he knew that his words had affected the child but that faded quickly and Liam once again decided to verbally attack him, going so far as to say that he didn't know anything about him. "Correction, I know everything there is to know about you. I know that your father is abusive to you and that he was abusive to your mother and I also know that she ran off and left you with him a week before your best friend slit both of his arms from wrist to elbow and killed himself," Malakai pointed out, his voice calm despite the heat of the situation. He knew that getting angry at Liam was not going to help the situation and he also knew that it wasn't really the boy's fault. Children were inherently innocent and it was only circumstances beyond their control that led them down the darker paths in life so he was not going to take that out on what was an innocent child, even if he was trying his best to change that fact. However at the same time he was not going to allow him to get away with the way that he was behaving right now. So when Liam tried to run he was quick to catch the boy and he tried once again to lecture him but it was pretty clear that wasn't going to work right now, the child just wasn't receptive of it. So rather than argue with the kid until he was blue in the face Malakai decided to take a more hands on approach to the situation, picking the boy up and tucking Liam under his arm before delivering a firm smack to his bottom. He didn't strike anywhere near as hard as he could however he was hitting firmly enough that it would definitely sting. When that ended up getting the boy to fight like someone possessed Malakai sighed and the fact that the child had told him to go to hell got yet another sigh out of him as he said, "I'd rather not if it's all the same to you." He could have told the child that he should concern himself with his own soul but that would have been mean and he wasn't out to be mean to his little charge. So rather than saying that he simply raised his hand and delivered a few more firm swats to the struggling child's backside, thinking about what a spectacle they made and vaguely wondering if any passersby were going to hear the boy's screams since Liam wasn't exactly being quiet right now.

Malakai was not doing much to get on the kids good side at this point, and if the man wanted to even attempt to get there he was likely going to have to re-think his tactics since guilting a child that already blamed himself for everything really wasn't effective for anything but making him feel bad and possibly pushing him towards hurting himself again, which he'd done a few times before when he was really stressed. For now he just fought the man, announcing that Malakai didn't know anything about him and he actually got teary eyed when Kai made the comments about his mom running off before Crevan killed himself, the words opening up barely scabbed over wounds and seriously upsetting him. "Fuck you." he bit out before bolting, wiping at his face to get rid of the few tears that slipped free and he was seriously pissed and startled when the man caught him as he tried to escape. He of course screamed bloody murder when Malakai tucked him under his arm and smacked him, telling the man to go to hell and he actually snorted when Malakai calmly told him he'd rather not but before he got the chance to say anything else the man continued to swat him and he yelped loudly for each one, his struggles increasing but he actually stopped screaming since it had dawned on him that he might attract attention and he didn't want to be seen like this. It took about fifteen swats before he finally started to drop the attitude as his eyes pricked with tears he wouldn't let fall. "Knock it off already! That hurts you know!" he snapped then, pushing against Malakai but he sounded more like a kid desperate to stop being spanked before he started to cry than the pissed off little delinquent he'd been before Malakai caught him.

The fact that he'd rarely ever played guardian angel to children was starting to make itself evident once again and the angel actually had to fight back some self doubts when his scolding words caused the boy to start to cry before he tried to run away. Knowing that he couldn't leave things as they were Malakai was quick to catch Liam before he could really manage to get anywhere and when attempts at resolving this the diplomatic way and just talking about it failed, as predicted, he ended up going with his original plan of action and tucking the child under his arm. He delivered a firm swat to Liam's backside and that just caused the little brat to start screaming bloody murder, which caused Malakai to wonder what would happen if someone happened to hear the boy's screams and come to see what was going on since the kid was making enough fuss that anyone who overheard would probably think that the child was being murdered rather than spanked. After the kid told him to go to hell he calmly said he'd rather not and then just resumed swatting the boy's backside, pausing every so often to gauge the boy's reaction and he was a little upset that it took fifteen swats to sort of get through to the little boy. He had to resist the urge to snort when Liam told him that the spanking hurt but he managed and just said quietly, "That's the idea Liam, if it didn't hurt then it wouldn't really teach you anything. It's different from the abuse your father directs at you though, I have no plans to cause you any actual harm, just a bit of sting so hopefully you won't repeat your mistake." He felt that he needed to differentiate the spanking he'd just given the child with the beatings he experienced at home. "Now, I think that you and I should get out of the cold. You can either go home or else you can come back with me and see Crevan again, I leave that choice to you," Malakai told him. He wasn't really expecting Liam to go along with his second suggestion or his first either for that matter but he did know that it wasn't a good idea to linger around since the cops were going to be looking for the one responsible for robbing the convenience store.
