Divine Punishment

Dionysus had to admit, he had never really been in control of things. Being the younger of the siblings, he just did as he was told and followed most of his siblings around like a little puppy. That is, until they all grew up. That was when most of his brothers and sisters got sick of him, so to speak. Taking in a deep breath he walked toward his brother, putting a gentle hand on his head.

"Oh come on Apollo. I'm sure things could be worse." he responded, pinching the child's cheeks and trying to get his brother to smile. Though he suspected his brother wouldn't smile for him. "Please don't be upset" he nudged, trying to cheer the boy up.

Apollo took a deep breath. He'd always been closer to Dionysus and Hermes then his other siblings, and the other Olympians. But right now, he didn't like the situation, or why he'd gotten into it. Then again, he regretted that he'd gotten Hephestus grounded for a few weeks. He'd taken the brunt of the punishment as it was his idea, but Zeus wouldn't allow the God of the Forge to get away with the prank, either.

He turned to look up at his brother.
"I don't like this, Dionysus," he said, softly.

The God of Wine gave a large smile. He was happy that his brother wasn't trying to run away. He walked up to him, putting his hand on his head, running a hand through his blonde locks. "I know brother. But you won't be like this forever, eventually father will forgive you. Then you'll be back to normal. But for now, we need to listen to him, otherwise he'll get angry. We don't want that." He replied, running gentle fingers through the messy locks. "Trust me." He smiled, setting his chin on the other's head.

Apollo sighed, and leaned back against his brother, drawing comfort from the gentle embrace.
"I know he'll forgive me, but I wish he hadn't chosen this. How's he even come up with something like this?" he wanted to know, frowning slightly.

"I'm not sure. Maybe he wants you to feel powerless for a little while. At least until your punishment is over." he smiled, playing with the other's golden locks. "Besides, it can't be that bad." He replied, knowing that Dionysus, himself, would never do anything horrible to harm his brother. He would never harm him...too much. That would just be cruel. However, the occasional punishment when the other misbehaved would be just fine.

Apollo sighed again. He knew his brother wouldn't harm him, and he'd have to think of a way to avoid being punished by his brother.
"You know, I don't think you should actually punish me. I'm already being punished. That would be like rubbing salt in the wound," he said.

Dionysus thought about it for a moment. "Well I suppose. But what if father wants me to rub salt in the wound?" he questioned. He had spoken to their father alone. He had been told that if Apollo was to act up Dionysus was suppose to do what he saw fit to punish the boy. However, he also didn't want his brother angry at him.

Apollo frowned and said, "I wish he didn't want you to. But I won't get another of my brother's in trouble."
He looked up at his brother.
"Do you think Hephestus will forgive me?"

Dionysus smiled at his brother, nodding. "I'm sure Hephestus will forgive you." he replied, looking down at his brother. "And don't worry, your punishments won't be that bad. I'll just think of how I had been punished by our brothers and father. And that's how I'll punish you." He said, trying to make his older brother feel better.

Apollo groaned and pushed at Dionysus.
"Get out, if you're going to say that!" he ordered, glaring at his brother.
