Dragon Ball: Family Reunion (for JASTYLES)

With a giant explosion, Planet Vegeta was no more, completely vaporized and left in its wake was only rubble and empty space from where the planet was previously located. Though, zooming past the detection of Frieza’s scouters, was Gine fast asleep in her pod. She was dressed in her normal Saiyan outfit but Bardock was quick to knock her out in order to avoid any objections. He hooked her up in the machine so she would remain asleep during this time and she would get the proper nutrients to survive the long trip. Her being asleep kept her from being detected as the pod zoomed through space and towards the destination that their son was sent to. Earth.

Many years has passed since this moment and finally pod began zooming through the sky and crashed down in the middle of a forest in Earth, causing a crater in its wake. After a moment, Gine slowly began to awaken as she soon began to regain her thoughts. Her eyes went wide as she kicked the door of her pod and jumped out of it. She looked around and was marveled by the beautiful sight. She then remembered her last conversation with Bardock as he told her what he felt Frieza had planned. She fell to her knees in shock. This can’t be real. Her race… her husband… they all can’t be gone could they…?

Son Goku, a spunky young boy with a hearty appetite, was out fishing by the lake near Grandpa Gohan's house, hoping to catch something for both lunch and dinner. The day was serene until a sudden crash interrupted their peaceful routine.

Startled by the loud noise, Goku dashed towards the source of the disturbance, his curiosity piqued. Grandpa Gohan, not far behind, emerged from their cozy home, equally intrigued by the unexpected commotion echoing through the mountains.

As they approached the crash site, they were greeted by a peculiar sight—a large, round object with a woman nearby! Grandpa Gohan's heart raced as he cautiously approached, unsure of what or who they had stumbled upon. He attempted to keep Goku back while he invested...

Grandpa Gohan stepped forward, making sure to keep a bit of distance so as not to appear threatening. He kept a close eye on this person, unsure of how she would react or what she might do. While he was a seasoned hunter, he was not one to attack unless it was in self defense, and even then, he would be wary of his opponent's strengths

"Hello there..." He calls to Gine with a wave, carefully stumvling over the hole, he didn't know who this woman was or what brought her here but he didn't want to bombard her with off putting questions. "Are you okay my dear..."

As Gine was on her knees, distraught and heartbroken, a sudden voice made her look up. With no scouter, she was left completely off guard as she looked up and saw the young adventure. To Goku, she must look extremely strange with her wearing the foreign armor, which was dirty and slightly torn from the crash. She would also be one of the first females he has seen in person. “Kakarot…” she said softly as she got to her feet. She slowly began to run in his direction and pulled him into her arms in a tight hug, holding her tighter than she has held anyone or anything in her life. “Kakarot!” She exclaimed as she closed her eyes tight as she hugged him, tears leaking out of her eyes. As she hugged her son, she paid no mind to the old man standing nearby. She was too distracted with the reunion she was having

"My name is Gohan, you seem like you're troub--" Grandpa Gohan gets cut off midsentence as the woman grips Goku tight...so much so that he is unable to escape her grasp, he stood motionless, stunned by the sudden display from the stranger, and also quite intrigued. His interest peaked when Goku was embraced, and he watched closely, trying to read his expression and determine the situation.

Goku's eyes widened at this unusual behavior. He didn't even have time to react before the woman had clinged go him, she was so fast...

"Wha--what's a Kakarot? Is that something you eat?" He asks curiously trying to pull himself away from the woman but she was so much stronger than him. To her it was almost as if he wasn't doing much of anything.

He'd been hugged before but never like this, with this much force and tenderness. It was warm, and his whole body eventually relaxed as his mind went blank...this felt so foreign to him but familiar at the same time...

"Gr-Grandpa Gohan! Do something..."

Realizing that he wasn't going to get much out of simply watching, Gohan steps forward. He doesn't like to impose on people, but his curiosity and desire to help have overtaken his usual patience. As he carefully approaches, he speaks to the strange woman

"My goodness..." He says calmly, being careful to not interrupt the woman, he was quite surprised actually that Goku was asking for him to help...Goku was actually even stronger than he was physically and it seemed like this woman was ever so effortlessly holding him in her arms. It was rather fortunate that she didn't seem hostile though... "Excuse me, but do you know my grandson Goku somehow?"

Gine held her son tight, tears in her eyes as she squeezed him. If this was a normal human, he definitely would have a few broken ribs by now. This confirmed without a shadow of a doubt that he is her Kakarot. “I can’t believe I found you…” she said softly. Suddenly she looked up at the old man as he called for his grandpa. “Are you the one that looked after him?” She asked, loosening her grip enough where Goku could escape if he so chose. While the mother and son may be reunited, they never had a chance to have a relationship or bond so it’s probably going to take a bit of time and hard work for them to have any type of familial relationship

Grandpa Gohan let out a deep breath of relief as the woman gradually loosened her grip on Goku, creating enough space for the boy to easily escape her embrace. He was fairly sure that he wasn't going to be able to get Goku free with his own power.


Goku could barely get air as he was held in this tight grip but slowly could as her hold on him loosened. Breathing heavily he looked up towards the woman, still slightly dazed by everything that had just happened. Once Goku was finally able to slip out of her grip, he quickly made his way over to his Grandpa and hid behind him while still keeping a watchful eye on the woman. He was never this nervous before so this whole experience was new and confusing for him.

So many things were running through his mind as he looked the strange woman up and down. Her outfit was foreign and strange but somehow familiar at the same time. Just how did this woman know him? Why did she know him? And he couldn't pinpoint exactly why but she reminded him of himself...

"Yes, that's right...my name is Son Gohan. I've taken care of him since I found him as a baby." The older man replies to the woman, nodding gently while answering her question. "How do you know my grandson...and why are you dressed in that strange armor? And...who is this Kaka-rot you mentioned earlier?"

Though his question were plentiful, he seems very genuineand kind in his tone. Not trying to overwhelm the woman, but more or less clear up any misunderstandings that they've had thus far.

Gine frowned as she felt her son wiggle and struggle out of her grip and go run and hide to a safe spot. But not wanting to get disappointed or upset, she smiled softly at him and extended her hand. “Come on Kakarot… you bothered this nice man for too long. We best get out of his hair.” She said, trying to be considerate to the old man, not knowing their relationship. But as she talked about leaving, she had no idea where to go. The ship was completely destroyed and even if it wasn’t, their home planet was gone so they’d have to find a different home world. But it’s not like that matters any more. And plus, this planet seems nice enough and very beautiful. Upon her questioning, she turned the table on him and began to ask a question of her own. But in reality, she tried to play it slow with outright saying she’s his mom to avoid scaring him even more. “I believe he called you Grandpa earlier, what is that?”

Grandpa Gohan chuckled gently as he watched the woman interact with his little Goku...it was not every day that the wild child would actually ask him for help. He knew that if Goku had wanted to get out of someone's grip he normally could have easily, so the one time that he had tried and failed was pretty amusing given that the woman was being rather calm and friendly all things considered but it seemed like Goku was a little spooked. So he kept the boy hidden behind him.

"Oh, well...a grandpa is like a father but older I guess...you know what a father is don't you my dear?" He didn't say it with any malice though, he figured she was in need of some guidance.

Goku listened to the two intently as he leaned on his Grandpa's leg, trying to make sense of what was happening. The woman seemed so familiar but there was something really weird and sad behind those eyes… he just couldn't make out what it was about her that threw her so off and yet made her so...unique to him. When Gohan asked the woman the question, he thought he could answer her and make it easy for her

"It's the one who raised you! It's the parent that took care of you!" he said with youthful innocence.

Gine listened on as she stood there, looking down at her feet which contained her torn boots that were so damaged from the crash that her toes were sticking out of the left boot. “I do… we just never used that word Grandpa from where I’m from.” Gine said sadly as she was tearing up, her face scrunching and she quickly covered her face with her hands. “I have nothing left! My family is all gone! I-I never even met my father!” Gine yelled, clearly breaking down. Her race is gone. And with Kakarot unwilling to come with him, will she ever have anyone that loves her or cares about her in her life again?

Hearing the woman's outburst, Grandpa Gohan gently placed a sympathetic hand on the woman's shoulder, his touch as gentle as his voice. He had seen many things in his life and understood pain well.

"Hey there, it's alright," he said softly, trying to comfort her. "I can't pretend to know exactly what you're going through, but you're not alone. It's going to be okay. You've still got a life ahead of you, and there are always reasons to keep moving forward. If you are the last of your people that means its even more important that you continue on..."

Goku's eyes widened in shock as the woman began to cry. He didn't fully understand what was happening and stood there, perplexed. He saw his grandpa trying to soothe her, which only added to his confusion.

The woman who had seemed so strong now appeared defenseless and sad. Goku's curiosity was piqued, and he slowly approached her, his steps hesitant.

"Uh, um..." Goku started, scratching the back of his head. "Are you...okay?" The words felt inadequate to him. He had faced many battles and powerful foes, but this was different—something he couldn't just fight.

"I'm...I'm sorry," Goku said awkwardly. "I don't really know what to say. I'm not good at this stuff and I don't know who you are. But...I'm here. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know...I dont want you to be sad."
