Question~
Dose it HAVE to be colored? >.<''
I'm very bad at it with pencils but I can do layering on the computer instead if you have to color it...
I finished drawing my entry but its black and white.

I don't see any reason why coloration should be a requirement. People have different strengths: some are better at linework than coloring.

As for myself, I'd appreciate a suggestion on how exactly you're supposed to modify the picture. Seriously, I really don't know how everyone else does this. I don't have Photoshop, I don't have a tablet... What am I supposed to use, MS Paint?

Dr Weird, I got the same problem - I printed the picture out, traced it with pencil to another paper, and started erasing lines I didn't need while adding stuff like clothing and hair. ^^
Color was done with pencils, finally.

Not a perfect solution but what else can we do

Cross-chan has always done very well with paint :P
You should try it before knocking it~

As for the line-art. I already told him in PMs that it'd be fine, it was shown to me and I repeated to him that it was gradeA work.
I'm suprised it's not been posted already.

If you'd like a powerful and free program, I'd suggest GIMP

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

http://www.gimp.org/

I succesfully worked with that before I decided to buy Photoshop CS Student Edition. It has similiar features like photoshop. It may seem complicated at first if you never worked with a programm like that, but I think it's managable and if you take the time to look through a tutorial or two, you get good results quickly. I dare say the ability to work with layers is the most important. A tablet is not REALLY needed. One can get good results with mouse only (trust me).
And I don't think it takes more time than the whole printing and copying process Macha mentioned ^^

Aside from GIMP I sometimes use Macromedia Flash MX , because it has some nice properties and tools. (you can cheat and let the computer smooth your lines this way drawing with a mouse is not impossible for common people)

To save an image in Flash MX : File/Export Image

I think you can download a trial and play with it for a few months at their website
or here http://www.soft32.com/download_353.html (just sg. I googled now)

Of course if you're naughty you can download non trial versions also...

What I usually do is put in the picture I'm working on on one layer then insert an other layer and draw above the original.

File/Import to library (to get the original)
window/library (then drag and drop)
Insert/Layer (arrange layers in the timeline)

To draw normal lines with the pencil tool set the options to smooth or ink.

Have fun !

I'm incompetent enough at painting with pens, I don't want to reveal my true incompetence when it comes to computers.
Heck, currently I'm completely failing at even getting my drawing "scanned". I think the version I'll have to post will be very blurry -.-
