The Foreign Exhange Student (for Verity79)

It was a typically Saturday morning as flights were coming in and leaving the airport. It was a busy as ever as crowds of people filled up every inch of the airport. A sudden large crowd of people disembarked a flight from Japan as one young woman took her time.

Yoko was a 20 year old Japanese university student that was picked for an opportunity to study in America for a few years. She was excited for the opportunity but is also very nervous as she never traveled outside her home country, knows very little English and doesn’t not know any of the visiting country’s customs. She was wearing a pink blouse with a white skirt and knee high socks with her shoes. She was looking at her phone, already very confused as she tried to figure out where she was going

Her exchange family is waiting for her at arrivals. They consist of a 40 something couple, the man in a blue suit with salt and pepper colored hair, a short stubbly beard, and green eyes, the woman with red hair and bright green eyes, wearing a black dress with silver highlights, and a younger 18 year old boy. The father spots her after a few moments and steps over before in Japanese greeting her "Excuse me? Would you be Yoko? I'm Greggory Martez. Pleasure to meet you. If you'll follow me, I'll show you to the baggage collection so you can get your suitcase"

Yoko blinked as she looked up as the family approached her. She listened intently as he spoke as she smile. “Hello! Thank you for taking care of me!” She bowed politely as she spoke with a very thick accent to make it clear to everyone that she spoke to that she was a foreigner. The youngest of the group was Alex, an 18 year old who was obsessed with video games and anime. So the fact that a cute girl from Japan that’s close to his age is staying with him is a dream come true. He had on a pair of black shorts, a hoodie to cover his chubby belly with the hood over his head and earphones in so he could listen to music. Yoko got her suitcase before following the family to the car and the pair sat in the backseat

Greg smiles as he leads the girl to the car, starting towards the two story house they call home. He then parks in the garage, stepping out to help her with her suitcase, leading her around the house and then up the stairs where he shows her to her room. It's fairly sizeable with a queen bed, a desk, wardrobe and dresser. The walls are painted a light blue to contrast the deep navy blue of the bed

Yoko looked out the window as she took in all the sights of the foreign country, unaware that Alex would keep glancing at her and blushing. As they arrived, Yoko stepped out and followed her to the room she was given. She took a second to take it in before she turned to him and bowed once again. “Thank you very much!”

"Of course Yoko. There are still 2 days for you to settle in before school starts. Do you have a translator with you for your classes or is your English good enough that will understand them well enough without?" He asks politely, helping her set her suitcase up on her bed so she may unpack

“I think I’ll be ok!” Yoko said with a smile as she gave a thumbs up. But in reality she was not super confident. Meanwhile, Alex went to his room to watch some anime but he couldn’t get Yoko out of his mind

"Sounds good. I'll be in the living room if you need anything. Dinner is in 2 hours" He smiles politely at her and gives her a small, respectful bow before leaving her room to go sit on the couch, watching TV

Yoko watched him leave as she went right to work putting her clothes and belongings away. It took a few hours but her room was finally the way she wanted it and she was now putting her suitcases under her bed

As she's putting her suitcase away, the mother, Lily, steps in and knocks on the door "Hello dear. Dinner's ready if you'd like to join us down in the dining room? We'd love to get to know you better."
