Adam Asher got out of his used Honda Accord and stared at the house that used to belong to his parents. Even several months after the incident, he still had trouble really believing that his parents had died in a car accident.

It had been a very messy affair: the man who had been driving the van that slammed into his parent's Ford Ka was extremely inebriated at the time and became suicidal when he learned he had killed two people with his recklessness.
At the time he had been in the middle of the school year and though the faculty offered to re-schedule his exams on account of family tragedy, Adam chose to stay on campus and finish everything rather than come home just to despair.

Studying intently and without rest had been his way of coping with the situation. But now the semester was over and the summer break had just started, and his presence was desperately needed back home.
Not only were there a million legal papers he had to sign, but there was also the issue of his younger brother.
When his parents died, he became the legal guardian, but since he was studying in university, his aunt agreed to take care of him for the time being. Recently she had told him over the phone how the younger kid had become more and more unruly and disobedient during the past few months.

Adam pushed back his messy brown hair our of his eyes and he took his luggage out of his old car and started walking towards the house. He did not know what to expect.

Chris had been with his parents when the crash happened,and if not for his mother throwing her body over his he probably would have died too. When the Paramedics found him he was barely conscious,last thing he remembered seeing was his parents bloodied and dismembered bodies laying on the ground as the medics fought to save them.

Needless to say once he was out of the Hospital,the boy changed,he started out secluded from the rest of the kids his age,until a group of older kids and befriended him,quickly corrupting the fragile boy into doing their dirty work,stealing,getting answer sheets,taking the fall for their mistakes. His grades had started to fall and he was barely passing,not as if he cared anymore.

He had started staying up for days at a time,afraid to close his eyes,for every time he did all he saw was the blood and gore from the wreck, causing him to frequently wake up crying and covered in sweat when he did sleep.This was probably while he became moody and easily angered by the slightest thing, such was the case today.

"Get out!" he yelled from behind the dark black glasses and the plate shattered next to his Aunts head "I said get out you whore! I hate you!" he growled his ice blue eyes staring her down in anger from his black and purple hair the hung in front of his face as she backed out of the kitchen. He didn't have a real reason to be mad,all she had done was asked him to take out the trash and when he said no she tried to ground him.

Adam was really surprised to hear crashing sounds from inside the house as he approached the porch. He became worried, so he decided to drop the box with his belongings on next to the curb and ran the rest of the way.

He opened the unlocked door to see a scene he did not think he would witness: his little brother Chris violently throwing things at his aunt Suzie's head and calling her names.

Adam was dumbfounded: Chris had always had a short fuse since he was a child, but he had never acted so...wildly before.

He saw his aunt Suzie duck and glare at Chris, only to turn around and see Adam. She ran towards him almost desperately and embraced her nephew.
"Adam, I'm so happy you're here!"

She took his hand and quickly led him back outside, ignoring Chris's reaction.
"Suzie, what is going on in here? What happened?" The young man exclaimed.

"Your brother has been becoming more and more like this since...your parents passed away, Adam. I know I said I could handle him, but I'm afraid that is not true anymore.
I thought that since he is fourteen already he would be fine if he did not move in with us and on;y had me for company during the day. But as you can see, that did not work out."

Adam nodded, still very worried. Aunt Suzie had two children of her own, and one of them was a baby. He did not blame her for not spending a lot of time with Chris.

"Has he hurt you? How long has he been like this?"
"He has been very sullen since the accident, but this recent turn for the worse started just yesterday. Honestly Adam, if you had not arrived, I might have called the police. I don't know what to do! He's out of control!"

Adam was pensieve for a few seconds and the grasped his aunt by the shoulders.
"Suzie, maybe it's best you go back home for now and don't worry about Chris anymore. I'm going to deal with him."

"Are you sure? I want to help you however I can!"
"Well, unfortunately it's obvious he does not trust you anymore..."
Suzie looked sad, but she understood completely. She started walking towards her own car.

"Remember, if you two need anything, call me right away! And please be careful Adam!" She shouted back, looking with apprehension towards the house.

Adam nodded and waved her goodbye.

[Chris]

Chris ignored his brothers arrival and stormed up the stairs leaving the kitchen as a mess,slamming the door to his room and blocking it with a chair,turning on a System of a Down CD one of his friends burned from him,blasting BYOB as loud as the player would allow,before grabbing his leather bound book from the shelf and laying on his bed to read.

The only thing Chris had kept doing since the accident was reading original Latin books in a effort to preserve was sanity he felt he had left. Since the wreck he had quit his martial arts class,his piano lessons,and most other things. Now he spent most days locked in his room only coming out when he had two,which was not often,mostly to leave with his friends,and even then he normally climbed out the window.

Adam picked his stuff back up from the curb as he waves his aunt goodbye. He entered the house again, noting that this time it lacked the noise of abused tableware but now he could hear somewhat muted music from upstairs.

He put his box in the kitchen and made his way upstairs, knowing where his brother's room was even if it had been a long time since he had been at the house and the decor had been changed.

He politely knocked the door even though he knew it would be barely audible over the music before he tried the turning the locked handle.

"Chris?" He called loudly. "Chris, open the door. We gotta talk!"

[Chris]

Chris grumbled when he heard the shouting and shut his music off and moved the chair before opening the door "Get lost Fucktard,I don't need you around to piss me off too" he grumbled slamming the door in his brothers face before turning his music back on and grabbing his book,going back to his reading.

Adam could have slapped his little brother across the face for the welcome he got. Honestly, his parents had not raised him to be an asshat!

But before he could react properly over his shock at seeing Chris so profoundly changed, the younger slammed the door on his face and went back inside and turning the music on again.

Adam briefly wondered if Chris had forgot to lock the door on purpose before he stormed into the room and shut the stereo off before turning and facing his younger brother with a scowl on his face.

"Chris, what is wrong with you?" He demanded angrily.

[Chris]

"The hell is wrong with you?" Chris asked glaring at his older brother,if you could call him that since he thought school was more important to him,or so Chris thought

"Just get lost,I don't need you anymore" he said grabbing his MP3 player and putting the ear buds into his ears and turning on his A7X mix and continued to read,deciding to block his brother out for as long as he could.

Adam stepped forward and yanked the mp3 playes out of Chris's hands.

He folded his arms across his powerful chest, still scowling at his younger sibling. Adam had not only been studying like crazy, but he also worked out when he had any spare time, resulting in rippling abdominal and noticeable biceps. He would have no trouble subduing Chris by force if he wanted to.

"You were throwing things at Aunt Suzie and called her a slut! Whatever has possessed you to treat her so badly?"

Adam would normally have worried about his brother more, but he knew that if Chris was being violent, he could get arrested. He wanted to curb Chris's violent actions before he could get to addressing his younger brother's other problems.

[Chris]

"What the hell! Give that back" Chris said eying his brother over,figuring it best not to try and force it "Fine,you can have the house! I don't need it" he growled heading for the window,his book in hand,and throwing his legs over the windows sill.

More often then not Chris would spend the night at a friends place or if he couldn't he would sleep in the park,a bus bench,or under a bridge in one of the little holes,the later when it would rain mostly
