Gregory Matthews put the last box down and smiled. He was 42 and was of a slim stature. He had blonde short hair and blue eyes. He worked in a big office as a salesman. The man turned around to see his lifepartner Shawn. He was smaller than him and younger. He had dark brown short hair and had green eyes. Shawn Summers was 36 and worked half days at a music shop.

But the two men were not alone in their new home. They just moved here with their adopted daughter who was 15. So they had a teenager at hand. While Shawn had been the more laid-back parent, Gregory was a bit stricter. But both could be responsible at times. It always had been like that. Shawn put down another box and went up. He knocked at a door. "Hey! Are you settling in?" He asked as he opened the door.

Next door a 13 year old girl with shoulder long brown hair and grey blue eyes had watched the new neighbours with interest. A gay couple? Well there were two men. And there was a girl! She seemed not that much older than her. Sandy Jane Rush had been quite excited about that fact. Finally someone she could talk to and maybe befriend! She went down to look if her father had already seen or heard anything about the new neighbours.

The mentioned girl was just done with unpacking all the important stuff. She hadn't been to keen on moving here. Just because her father had to move for his stupid job...Nobody cared that she had to leave all her friends behind! Well, they didn't move too far, but it was another part of town and that meant a new school and new people. New York was big after all...

Phoebe Grace Matthews was a slim girl, with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. She loved to dance and was normally a good student and a well-behaved girl. But being 15 was difficult for every girl and so it sometimes happened that she acted up.

Satisfied with her work, she looked around and smiled, as suddenly her father came in. "Geez dad, knock next time, will ya?", she asked and put a strand of hair behind her ear. "I...am getting used to it...", she said, trying not to be too joyfull.

Dr. Nicholas Rush was busy working, and so he didn't notice anything that had happened so far across the street. Being a work-a-holic and always busy with something, he often used the time for work instead of doing something with his daughter. But he loved her dearly nontheless. He just wasn't always good at showing it openly. With a sigh, he looked up as she entered his room. "Didn't I tell you not to disturb me?", he wanted to know. As Sandy told him about the new neighbours, he sighed. A gay couple and a teenager! Great! "Well, that house didn't stay empty for long...", he mused and continued working.

Shawn chuckled. "Well I thought you were still busy getting everything done." He looked around. It did look like her room. "I am sure you will quickly live in. And maybe you meet some new friends here." He sat down. "I know that this isn't very easy for you." Gregory had already talked to Phoebe and explained about his new job and the opportunities.
He had felt bad for dragging her away but the new job made it possible that they got a bigger house. Shawn looked up. "Are you hungry? I am sure we can convince Greg to order something."

Sandy pouted slightly as she was scolded. "You're sitting here all day papa! You should take a break." She hugged him from behind and chuckled as he mused anout the house. "Maybe we should go and say hello? Just this time?" She asked nearly pleadingly.

"Well you should know that I am quick if I want something", Phoebe said jokingly and looked around again. "As if we had never moved...that is what it looks like at least", she said and sighed sadly. She missed her old room, even if this one was much bigger and had a nice view, it was still not her home. "Yeah, sure why not...", she mumbled, still a bit depressed because of the whole situation.

"I am deciding myself when a break is needed, thank you very much", her father replied sternly. As Sandy asked him about going over, he sighed. "Let them get known to their new home a bit before you drag me over there, will you? We can go tomorrow, or later today", he decided. "How about we order food?", he suggested.

Shawn squeezed her shoulder and got her downstairs into their living room. Not everything was out of the boxes yet but Gregory was trying to get their computer up. "Oh well. If that isn't my little girl. How are you doing in your new room?" He joked. Shawn sat and got his phone out looking for some food. "Phebs and I want to order some food. You're in or out?" Gregory looked at them. "I eat as well. That's a good idea."

Sandy sighed. Yeah as if he knew when to take a break. She was about to whine as he suggested some food. Sandy smiled. "Ohh yes! That's a good idea papa! I'm starving." She took his hand and pulled him to the kitchen where they had the papers.

Phoebe followed her father downstairs. As Greg asked her about her new room, she sighed. "Its not half as cool as my old room, you know?", she said, slightly pissed because of the whole moving. "Lets order pizza!", she suggested, talking to Shawn this time. Soon, they waited for their order.

Dr. Rush followed Sandy half-amused and got out the flyers. "What would you like to order?", he asked his daughter and handed her the flyers.

Shawn smiled. "Pizza sounds good." Gregory sighed at Phoebe but let it drop. He knew it would get difficult for her. "Very well. The usual for me please." Shawn tipped in. "And you? Still the same or do you want something else?" He asked Phoebe.

Sandy got the flyers and looked through. "Let's eat pizza! I haven't had one for some time. I want my chicken barbecue!" She said and smiled. "And you papa? Pizza Hawaii? Or Pizza with work?" She joked and chuckled.

The orders were made and Gregory asked Phoebe to help him get some plates out and put the table. "So it looks at least a bit decent here. Don't you think Phebs?"

Phoebe thought about it. "I want barbecue pizza please, with bacon and onions and corn", she said, in a bit better mood.

"I think I couldn't hear you clearly young lady, did you ask nicely for your food? I don't think so.", Dr. Rush answered and rose an eyebrow at her, giving her a pat on her bottom. "Watch your mouth. My work makes it possible for us to live here and order food", he reminded her, not to stern though. He knew being a work-a-holic wasn't what Sandy liked about him the most after all...

Soon the food was on the way and the girl helped her father to set the table. "Do you want an honest answer?", she asked and rose an eyebrow.

Gregory smiled and was happy when Phoebe was in a good mood. He got some of their plates out and looked for their glass. "Well you can answer honestly. I know you're not too happy." Shawn was sitting on the couch and watched them. "Give her time Greg. When I was her age, my parents already moved for the third time in a year. I wasn't pleased either."

Sandy pouted playfully. "Aoww! I only say it because I'm right. I know you earn a lot of money but remember papa, money doesn't buy you happiness." She chuckled and hugged him. Then they ordered and then had to wait.

The delivery arrived and Shawn took the order. He paid and got in. "Hmm two pizzas only?" He wondered. He then looked at the adress.
At the same time Sandy had three pizzas and was wondering about it.

Phoebe noticed that her father seemed slightly sad about the circumstance that she wasn't and she was about to say something, as Shawn told him to give her time. "It's... different. I don't like things changing, you know that...", she added and sighed. "But I will get used to it...I have to, it seems...", she added and rubbed her neck.

Soon, the pizza arrived and Phoebe looked confused at the delivery. "What happened dad?", she asked her father and looked up at him.

Dr. Rush looked at Sandy confused as she suddenly hold 3 pizzas in her hand. "What happened with the delivery?", he asked and checked the address. "Its from across the street. Go and give them to them, you can say hello then as you wanted it", he suggested. "And let them pay for the third pizza!", he called after her.
