Shawn looked at it. "Oh I think the delivery boy just confused us with people across the street.

Sandy got out and rolled her eyes. She happily got over and rang.
Shawn went there with the pizzas. He thought it was the boy, but a young girl stood smiling before him. "Uh I think you got our order."

Shawn smiled. "Yeah." He exchanged. "So you're living there? Just across." Sandy nodded. "With my father. I saw you moving her today and wanted to say hello earlier but my father is a workaholic you see." She chuckled. Shawn called Phoebe. He was sure both could be friends.

"This is our daughter Phoebe. And this is.." Sandy smiled. "I'm Sandy. Nice to meet ya."

Phoebe heard her father calling and wondered if she did something, but as she went to the door, she saw a girl standing there. She listened to her father and Sandy and thought that she must be one of the neighbors. "Hey, nice to meet you too", she said and smiled politely. "Is the delivery service always like this?", she asked amused as she handed Sandy her food.

"I don't know. We rarely order. I bet he was just confused by the numbers." She smiled and then said a bit embarassed: "Uhm my father wants the money for the pizza back." Shawn chuckled. "Of course. Wait." He went in.
"Sorry. My Pa is quite stingy sometimes." She then looked at Phoebe. "So uhm. Are you going to the Cascadilla School? I..uhm go there to because my father works for the University here." It would be nice to have a neighbour friend.

Shawn came back and gave her the money. "There." "Thanks Mister. See you Phoebe." And she went back.

Shawn got back in with Phoebe. "There. Finally we can eat."
Gregory looked up. "So? Was the delivery boy back?"

Phoebe watched her father disappearing. "It's alright, it is not your fault after all", she said and shrugged, knowing that Sandy must feel uncomfortable about it. "Well yes I think so...I am not sure though...but it could be", she nodded. Her father returned and Sandy quickly said good bye. "See ya", Phoebe said and closed the door. "Well, we met some neighbours already, that's something", she said to Shawn and went back. "Nope, it was our neighbour to bring the right food", she told her father and sat down. "Enjoy your meal!"

Gregory got his pizza and watched Phoebe. "Oh so? Who was it? Friendly?" He was curious to know about the surroundings. After all he knew how mean people could be towards them.

Shawn sat and got his food. "Well it was the neighbour girl. Seems nice. Think she lives alone with her father. They only had two pizzas."

Sandy arrived and put the pizza on the table. "I'm back and I got your money." She waved with the money bill. "Or can I keep it for the service I did?"

Phoebe started eating her food and listened to her parents. "Yeah she seems nice...I think we are in the same school", Phoebe said. "I am not sure if she got the whole situation about us at all...well...we will see how she reacts", Phoebe said and ate another slice of pizza. It was good, she had to admit that.

She feared school for all the things that already happened because of her parents relationship. She was totally fine with it, and couldn't understand why other people looked at them as if they were odd or unnatural. They loved each other, so what ? With a sigh, she stared at her drink and continued eating.#

Dr. Rush looked up from his work - which he did while Sandy was away - and smiled. "No", he said and took the bill from Sandy. "Let's eat.", he added and put the work aside.

Gregory tried to be positive. "I am sure it will be alright." He had talked with Shawn and they would try not to be too obvious in public, nonetheless he would introduce Shawn as his life partner and second father to Phoebe.

Shawn nodded. "She seemed alright. You'll see not everyone is fucked up here." He said and chuckled while Gregory glared at him. "Language please."

Sandy sat and pouted. "Aww come on papa. I want some allowance. I'd like to go to the book shop with you maybe? It would be nice if we could do something together." She said.

Phoebe listened and smiled nervously. "Yes...well...we will see...", she mumbled but had to smile as her father got scolded for his language. "Watch your mouth dad, really", she said, fake offended and chuckled. "There is another school nearby if it doesn't work out...", she added and stared at her hands, already afraid what would happen.

Dr. Rush looked at Sandy for a moment. Well, the book shop was at least something he could relate to. It wasn't such a bad idea after all. "Fine", he said and handed her the bill back. "But I expect you to buy something acceptable.", he added. "If you want...you can ask the girl from across the street to come with us...", he suggested reluctantly. He knew it was hard for Sandy that he worked so much, so if she found a friend he needed to encourage it.

Gregory looked at her. "It will be alright. We are here for you." He said. Shawn smiled. "We are...don't worry too much." They ate and Shawn got the plates into the kitchen. Gregory and him packed out some more and then decided to retire for the evening. While Shawn watched TV, Gregory went to have a look at Phoebe's new room. "Well looks like your old one, just bigger." He smiled.

Sandy smilex. "Yay! Thanks papa." Then she thought about it. "Oh that's a nice idea but..I dunno if she likes that. I..I don't want to bore her to death you know?" She appreciated her father's effort though. She just didn't know if Phoebe would then find her boring or say that she was a nerd and geek like the others said.

Phoebe helped cleaning up the plates and went into her room then. Luckily, she still had another day of weekend before she had to attend school. It didn't make things easier, but she was afraid. Back then, her classmates couldn't understand it...She hoped these people would. If not, she would punch them until they would!

Suddenly, she heard her father next to her and shrieked. "Knock for heaven's sake!", she barked and sighed. "Sorry, you surprised me...yeah...my old room was smaller but ... it was home...", she said and looked at her feet with a little pout.

Dr. Rush listened and shook his head. "Books aren't boring...they are the source of knowledge after all...everybody should read...there wouldn't be so many idiots if some people would simply read some more...", he said. But well, if she didn't want to bring the girl, he was more than happy to go alone with her. He wasn't good at socializing after all...
