"I don't know..." Natalie mumbled. She walked out into the corridor. "Ariana?" She called. "Are you here?"

Ariana came out of her room. "Yeah? What's up?"

"Where are Tielle and Isabella?"

"Oh! Erm... well..." Ariana looked away. "Isabella did something naughty, so Tielle took her upstairs to deal with her. About ten minutes ago. I guess they must still be talking about it."

Sam breathed a little sigh of relief when she saw and heard Ariana, and then also was informed that the others were still in the house. "D-do you know what we're going to have for dinner, Ariana? I'm super hungry..."

Her eyes widened a bit as she also realized she'd not fed Squirtle yet today. "Um, um, um, do you know where the Pokemon Food is? I just remembered Squirtle's not gotten anything today..." she muttered, blushing from her forgetfulness.

"We're having egg fried rice and don't worry about Squirtle, I've already fed him," Ariana answered with a smile. "So do you want me to get Tielle and Isabella?"

Natalie shook her head. "I'll cook the dinner. I need to show them some form of gratitude and this is a perfect opportunity." She carried Samantha back into the kitchen and set the girl down on her feet.

Samantha's bare feet touched the cool kitchen floor and gave her a bit of a shiver - but it was just as much a comforting sensation as it was a temperature startle. She partially naked little girl clung close to her Mother as she started getting organized in the kitchen, taking a moment to rub her bottom now that it was getting all the comforts of the cool evening air against it. It still stung, but at least the lotion earlier made it heal up a little nicer than it might have otherwise.

"I can't remember the last time we had fried rice mommy, can you?" she chirped inquisitively.

"Hmmm... I think it may have been a couple of months ago," Natalie replied, not really thinking about it as she prepared to begin cooking the dinner. "But I'm looking forward to it."

Sam wrapped her arms around her mother's waist gently, trying to not get in her way or trip her but still be close. "We used to have it all the time when I was little... I wonder why we stopped."

She sighed and watched Natalie fiddle around on the counter top as the ingredients were being set out and prepared. She seemed a little antsy there without her jeans and panties on, but that was probably more due to her getting used to the cooler temperature. With luck, the heating up of the kitchen from dinner would ease her back into a normal state. Barring that she could get a blankie and sit somewhere quietly while she waited for dinner.

Natalie ran her fingers gently through Samantha's hair. "It was your father's favourite," the mother said in a quiet voice, pain lacing her tone. She directed her eyes up to the ceiling for a minute before carrying on with the chore of dinner.

"Though, your father used to be terrible at cooking it," Natalie then remarked, a small smile curving her lips. She didn't want Samantha to completely hate her father--even if he did deserve it. "He looked so much like a little school boy when I would tell him off for trying to cook it. Then he'd apologise and give me this look that always reminded me why I fell in love with him. Before..." Natalie paused, wondering if Samantha should know this. It was hard for an adult to take in, let alone a child. "Never mind."

"B-before what, Mommy?" The little girl knew she probably shouldn't pry, but Natalie had broached the subject and it was going to bug the child until she had some kind of answer. It could be a lie for all she cared, but the prospect of her daddy doing something to make her Momma act like this was not a pleasant one. "I-I know it's not polite to be nosy... but I love you and I get scared when you say things like that... I just want you to be okay."

She squeezed her arms around Natalie's tummy extra tight (but not uncomfortably so) to emphasize her love and support.

Natalie was completely still and silent before gazing down at Samantha. "It's nothing you should know yet, sweetie. Don't worry about it. Forget I said a word."

"O-okay..." Samantha wasn't pleased to hear that cop out, but knew better than to argue. She looked down at her feet and pondered what to do next before nature answered that question for her.

"Um... Mommy, I need to go potty. Can I go on my own or do you want to come with me?" Normally this wasn't even an issue, but after running off like she had, Sam did not want to scare her Mother by going somewhere unannounced or without permission.
