Ariana brought Samantha into her arms tightly. She was surprised to find the girl was light as a feather, but then she wasn't even that tall anyway.

She felt really sorry for Samantha and sympathised with her greatly, as Ariana was all too familiar with the feeling of dread of future punishments, especially a spanking. Memories of her being not too older than Samantha came flooding back, ones she wished to keep forgotten. No one was ever abusive to her, but it was never nice to remember spankings.

"You'll have to point your house out to me," Ariana said as she began to walk towards the train station. She'd walked by it many times today already, so she knew which way it was. "I bet it's a really pretty house for such a pretty little girl."

Samantha rested her head on Ariana's shoulder as she was carried back. "Its... that one. The little one." she said, pointing at a little apartment complex not far from the station. "Apartment 12."

She turned her head back to Ariana's shoulder. "And... thank you for calling me pretty..." she said, almost a little embarrassed. "You're really nice..."

Ariana grinned at Samantha. "Well, you've got my mom and dad to blame for that. Wouldn't be doing a good job as my parents if I was mean and nasty, would they?" she chuckled. She was trying to put off taking Samantha inside, for Samantha's sake.

"So what's your mother like? Is she nice? Did you get your looks from her?"

"Yeah... she's pretty. She's really nice too, though she works really hard to take care of me... Since it's just her and me now... money's really tight. " She said looking at the door, feeling the anxiety of her punishment long before she even saw her mother's face.

"I thought if I became a Pokemon trainer, I could get out of her hair and not give her so much to worry about... since I'd be taking care of myself. She wouldn't have to save money for food or anything..." Little Sam muttered, gushing her inner most worries without really thinking about it.

Ariana listened to Samantha's rambling. "But, sweetheart, don't you think running off without telling would have just made her more worried? It sounds like to me she really loves you and only wants to give you the best in life. I don't think running away to become a Pokemon Trainer is the best way to show her you're grateful."

The older girl released a sigh as she looked with her blue eyes at the apartment again. "But, she definitely needs to know what happened today. So, let's get this over with." She took Samantha up to the door and rang for number 12. They were buzzed in instantly.

She must think it's just Samantha, Ariana thought to herself as she opened the door and entered the building. They must not get a lot of visitors.

Ariana carried the child to a door that presented "12" in gold, rusting numbers on it. She knocked on the door and tightened her arms around Samantha.

"You don't normally knock--" Samantha's mother began as she opened the door, but was cut off when she saw her daughter in the arms of some teenager. "Samantha? What's going on?" she enquired, her tone gentle.

Ariana's words rang true in her ears, and she was already starting to tear up. When she saw her Mom, she immediately started crying again and shook in the older girls arms.

"I'm sorry Mommy... I'm sorry... I was a bad girl an' an' *hic* I stole from the Poke Mart and I was gonna run away an' *hic* an' an'... I'm such a bad girl! I'm so sorry!"

The waterworks turned on full tilt and she sobbed and bawled into the older girl's shoulder, clinging on for comfort.

Natalie, Samantha's mother, let her little girl stay in Ariana's arms. It was obvious Samantha didn't want to be taken away from the older girl's arms, so there was no harm in letting her stay there. She invited Ariana in and shut the door behind her.

"Sit down, make yourself at home," Natalie said, giving a smile to the one comforting her daughter.

Ariana nodded and sat down, settling Samantha onto her lap.

"Come on, baby, it's okay," Natalie said, rubbing Samantha's back. "You're not a bad girl and Mommy's definitely not mad at you. I'm certainly disappointed but not mad."

"*hic* I... I'm sorry... I just felt... really bad *hic* and I wanted to leave so you wouldn't have to worry about me... " she said, sniffling and rubbing her eyes. "That's why Dad left, right? Cause of me... *hic* I... I just didn't want you to hate me... *hic*"

The little girl sobbed into her hoodie sleeves again, now covered with the tears and snot of two separate breakdowns. A little Pidgey clock in the kitchen chirped the hour of 6:00pm, followed by the sound of the Magnet Train zooming into the station. The sun was setting through the little window of the apartment, causing a beam of sunlight to glisten off of her tear streaked face.

"I'm such a bad girl... *sob*" she said, rocking herself in place on Ariana's lap.

Ariana raised an eyebrow when she heard the clock - she didn't think it was as late as six in the evening. Just how long had she been going around this big city anyway?

"Now you listen to me, young lady," Natalie said, her tone not one to be argued with. "Your father did not leave because of you. It was a mutual decision we both came to, one that would benefit you. We were fighting all the time, remember? It's no good to a child if she's in an environment where all that's happening is her parents screaming at each other." She gently took Samantha from Ariana's arms; she was grateful to the girl, but now her daughter needed the comfort of her mother.

"I already told you, you are not a bad girl," Natalie remarked. "You are the kindest person I know, sweetie, and I'm honestly not just saying that." She ran her hand down Samantha's brown hair. "If you left me without so much as a goodbye, I'd be awake all the time, worrying about you. I'd search every corner of Kanto for you so I could drag you back home. I could never hate you, even if you committed the worst crime in the world."

Sam was shifted from Adriana to Natalie without really any effort, and she cuddled up against her mothers bosom and cried softly. "I know... I hated him too... but... he was still my daddy... I just wish I coulda helped more..."

She sniffled and cried in her mothers arms. "I didn't wanna leave you, but... I know you wouldn't have let me go if I said something..." She then looked up at her mothers eyes with her own tear filled ones, trying to muster up her courage to bring up the topic of her punishment.

"A-are you gonna spank me, Mommy? I-I don't want you to, but I know I was a bad girl and I need to be punished..." She tried to keep her eyes locked on her mothers, but it was hard with her watery eyes causing her to blink so much.
