"Baby girl, you don't have to know how to look after me right now and I honestly hope you never do. You don't have to climb down a tree by yourself and you don't have to convince that little girl to behave."

Tielle sighed. "Then we'll keep trying until you don't want to try anymore... but if he never picks up ever, then he's missing out on talking the best little girl in the world" she said, kissing the child on the cheek.

"But I WANT to!" Samantha shouted, stomping the ground again. The child was starting to throw a right fit over this, even though she didn't really know why. It was just a bunch of bottled up emotions bursting to the surface all at once.

"Daddy doesn't hate me, does he?" Isabella worried. "Is that why he never calls?"

"Come on, baby girl, calm down for Mommy," Natalie soothed, pulling Samantha into a hug.

"No, he doesn't hate you Isabella... he just has a very weird way of expressing love to us, that's all." Tielle kissed the child on the cheek. "He was very upset when mommy passed away, much like we were... he didn't know how to handle it, so he ran away. But he didn't want us to be on our own, so he still gives us money, even if we really could use him here. He just works too much these days, that's all... he still loves us though, I'm sure of it"

"I DON'T WANT TO CALM DOWN!" screamed Samantha, pushing her mother off of her and running down the street angrily. She ran and ran and ran until she came up to a little alleyway and ducked in it, stopping against the wall and sitting down, crying in frustration. It seemed the crankies had taken hold of her and she just wanted to fuss... but now she felt bad for screaming at her mother and shoving her and running off. She was sick at her stomach and confused and scared and oh so very upset with herself. Why did I do that? she thought to herself. I'm such a bad girl sometimes...

"But if he really loved us, he'd check up on us..." the child reasoned. "Not just assume we're okay."

"SAMANTHA, COME BACK!" Natalie cried as her child ran off. She took off after the girl and was surprised to find just how much faster Samantha was than her. Eventually, Natalie lost sight of the little girl amongst the crowds.

And all Natalie could do was collapse onto her knees and sob into them. Nobody even asked why she was crying, figuring it was best to leave her alone.

What if she never saw Samantha again? The thought twisted Natalie's stomach and almost made her throw up. She couldn't live without her baby girl, she really couldn't.

"I know baby... I know." Tielle kissed Isabella on the forehead and sighed, rocking with the child in her arms.

Samantha pulled her self up and rounded the corner, expecting to see a very angry mommy... but she was nowhere to be found. The girl realized she had run a lot farther than she had thought and was suddenly overcome with guilt and fear. She gripped onto Squirtle's Poke Ball and started walking down the street, looking for some kind of landmark... if she could find the Pokemon Center she could find the Gym and Tielle's house was near there.

Slowly walking down the street, she looked around, very cautious of any strangers that came near her... for the first time in her life she was alone in an unfamiliar city with no one that knew her nearby (save her baby Pokemon). And it was terrifying.

"I'll ask Daddy why!" Isabella proclaimed. "And hopefully he won't yell at me..."

Natalie pulled herself together and walked around in a sort of daze, not really paying attention to her surroundings. Her eyes hurt from all the crying she did and all she could feel was the churning in her stomach.

"If he yells at you for that, then he's just stupid - no one in their right mind would have a reason to be upset over that question - especially from a beautiful little girl like you!" Tielle kissed the girl again and laughed.

The doorbell rang and Tielle put Isabella down and paid the delivery man for the pizza. "Odd... I thought Natalie and Samantha would have been back by now..."

Samantha wandered for a little while, equally bleary eyed and confused, but she eventually saw a woman in a police officer's uniform. "U-um, excuse me... I'm... I'm lost. I... got upset and ran away from my Mommy, and now I can't find her again."

"Maybe they got lost?" Isabella suggested.

"What does your mommy look like?" the police officer asked. She then gave a warm, comforting smile. "I'll help you to find her."

Tielle sat the pizza on the table and looked around until she found Ariana. "Hey, have you seen Samantha and Natalie recently? They said they'd be back before too long but they've been gone for over half an hour now if you haven't run into them."

Samantha tried her best to describe her mother, though it was hard for the specifics to get out there beyond 'she looks like me'. She grabbed the police officer's hand tightly and reattached Squirtle to her belt loop. She was going to be in so much trouble when her mother got a hold of her, but she didn't care. Suddenly all of her big girl bravado was gone and the little girl just wanted hugs and kisses from Mommy and be told so that the parent would never go anywhere ever again - and neither would she!
